So my point is, just as we don’t know it definitely, absolutely — and as Taibbi said, journalistic malpractice in shouting, as known, knowable FACT that it DIDN’T come from a lab, we also are not likely to know, as a fact that it DID come from a lab. It’s very difficult to prove.
Now I agree with scientists (huh??? what???) that look at the DNA anomalies that strongly indicate this is nowhere, not likely possible to be natural, sure. BUT WE DON’T KNOW. That’s life. So far, if this were a jury, I would convict on the evidence, overcoming reasonable doubt. But that doesn’t make it TRUE. Fact-checkers cannot Fact-Check — It’s IMPOSSIBLE — as top reporter Taibbi because when there is news, it just happened, and no one KNOWS what the facts are yet, because we only heard the very first reports. THAT’S WHY WE HAVE NEWS. That’s why unfolding stories go on and on, investigating. We may never know, but absolutely you’re vanishingly unlikely to know in the first 12 hours. To pretend you do, then reverse, then reverse again, because you beat a thousand drums that you KNOW, safe in your studio apartment in Williamsburg, having never left, “Liveblogging Arab Spring, From my living room!!!” and anyone who asks questions must be destroyed, only entirely discredits you, your paper, and your whole profession, AS IT SHOULD, because you are reporting things you saw, what was said at a particular point, by and to a particular reporter, as immutable, down-from-the-mountain God-like “fact.” You don’t know. You’re a fallible human. You ain’t all that. Get a grip. Especially when you were wrong about Clinton, Bush, Obama, Hillary, Trump, Clapper, the CIA, Iraq, F-Stan, and everything else since before you were in grade school.
So while I’m glad we can finally ASK the question in public, Fauci and China can investigate themselves for planet-wide mass-murder *again*, neither is it true that it DID happen.
And ESPECIALLY happen from Wuhan and not Langley, or Italian services, or out of Tokyo as a preemptive attack, or god-knows. We DON’T know. That’s why we ask questions. When the get answers THOSE answers will probably also be lies, misdirections, cut short. That’s why there’s free speech, since everyone — or perhaps reporters particularly — have forgotten, being too busy butt-sniffing their Vassar-graduating, Monaco-vacationing peers.
Back to the headline: Fauci said he wanted bioweapons research real bad, even if if killed every human on earth. He then funded it, both legally, and later, illegally, using fronts and pass-throughs, hiding and moving the scientists required to insure bioweapons went on. He then denied what he and everyone knew was a fact, then investigated himself, with China, and lied again.
I missed this as earlier, milktoast Tim Pool saying over, getting on the bandwagon of, “Fauci Lied: People Died” over and over again. “He is a dangerous, TV-only doctor” again and again. I think you’re losing them. Tim is pro-mask and doesn’t believe any criminals ever talk to each other or lie. And that was last week before this even broke.

All this was standard, boring journalism for generations. “He said” not “He furiously spat his bizarre conspiracy theory from Satan, without evidence”. “So and so said this, the documents said that.”, not “We asked some random officials who agreed with me, then spent the next six paragraphs ‘debunking’ equal officials who dared NOT agree with me.”

If you have a wrong opinion, “They just quietly move you in the company, and you just stop being on the front page, and before you know it, you’re not working at the NY Times anymore. And the people who do rise in the business are the people who tend to be conformists, intellectually uncurious, and they have that herd mentality.”

“I remember when CNN announced ahead of the (2020) campaign, that they were hooking up with FactCheck.org, so that they could fact check politicians’ statements. And I’m like, ‘It never dawned on Jake Tapper or anybody at CNN that THEY’RE supposed to be the fact-checking organization….??? That they have to go find an APP to figure out how to fact check? What does that say about the news media?”
Taibbi: “All that is a just a marketing campaign…the public just doesn’t believe what we report anymore. To deal with that the public has begun to clue in to the fact that a lot of corporate media has been politicized, they started dredging out fact checking organizations as a way of saying ‘Hey we’re really into facts. We’re into factuality and we have this shiny thing we even named ‘fact-checking.’ But you’re right: journalism itself is fact-checking, you shouldn’t need a separate thing. That’s YOUR job. It’s ridiculous.”
…To do your job for you because you won’t, or haven’t in years. And no one even notices. Inside or outside the industry.
“They’re not specialists, they have to get it out that day and they don’t have time to do this fact checking. …Once you get past names, dates...the worst kind of misinformation in journalism is to be too sure about anything.” That’s especially true with technical issues, or where official sources seem invested in eliminating discussion of alternative scenarios.
Dore: “I don’t mind that you repeating the government narrative or the establishment narrative, I know you’re going to do that, but the fact that you would shame people that have questions, which is almost the definition of a journalist, is to question the official and establishment narrative, ABOUT EVERYTHING, and you turn doing that into something disgusting and nefarious, and shamed, and that’s the thing I can’t get over.”
Taibbi: “Yeah, a lot of this has to do with politics. …The press has interpreted this that anyone who criticizes the news media is right-wing, is a lunatic, is a conspiracy theorist, and they should be shamed. We’re the GOOD people. They’ve gotten high on themselves. When people don’t believe you…it’s YOUR fault. You lost somebody’s trust.” Ego. TDS. TRUTH Derangement Syndrome. Fritz Haber was a German chemist who received the Nobel Prize in Chemistry in 1918 for his invention of the Haber–Bosch process, a method used in industry to synthesize ammonia from nitrogen gas and hydrogen gas. This invention is of importance for the large-scale synthesis of fertilizers and explosives.
Fritz also developed poison gas for the German army in WWI.
Fritz’s lab in the 20’s also developed Zyklon B. How special!

The development of the Haber-Bosch process to make synthetic fertilizer out of fossil fuel allowed the over population of the planet.
It allowed gross overshoot of natural resource to the point where the 8 Billion currently living on the Late Great Planet Earth would perish within a growing season or two without cheap fossil fuel, which is coming to an end.

Question for J.D. Is it possible Ivermectin’s effectiveness will eventually be compromised like Penicillin due to indiscriminate use? I now have a nice stash courtesy of Kachhela. Got to me almost exactly 2 weeks from date of order! Now, what to do with my apple-flavored horse paste….
Specifically, if one starts taking it as a prophylactic, can it lose effectiveness? How long should it be taken strictly as a preventative? (And if you should still catch Covid while taking it, you just go to the medicinal dosage?) And probably not necessary in the summer?
Anyway, very glad to have something since I will not be getting the vaccine. Though I will still have to deal with the craziness of being labeled an anti-vaxxer.

I read way back that the ‘Wet-market” in Wuhan is about 250yds from the Wuhan lab and that at other research facilities in China, lab worker would sell ‘excess lab animals’ into the local food markets to pick up some extra cash on the side.
Maybe the vector for the virus out of the Wuhan lab was ‘excess lab animals’ that were unknowingly infected being sold under the table.
