The growing trend I see is that credulous government skeptics, of the variety associated with redit etc., and/or bogus imitations thereof, are used to promote claims like “Japan approves ivermectin” etc., thereby giving vakzine proponents low-hanging false fruit to knock down.
Supporting disinformation (“Vakziznes are safe and necessary”) with disinformation (“did you hear what those crazy anti-vaxxers are saying now?”) is especially effective on the internet. This method shares basic underlying principles as GIGO and “Have you stopped beating your wife yet?” and the ever popular RussiaRussiaRussia nonsense.
The difference between a robotic human and a humanoid robot is that robots have no soul to exchange for money nor desire for same.

I said ‘claims to be a properly conducted study of ivermectin vis a vis covid’ because this hardly seems like a viable study (emphases mine):

There is no standard treatment for mild cases. Subjects are assigned to two groups, the placebo group, and the ivermectin group. The target number of each treatment arm is 120, a total of 240 cases. A single oral administration of 200 ㎍/kg of ivermectin or an ivermectin-free placebo will be administered on an empty stomach. Time to negativization of SARS-CoV-2 PCR as the primary endpoint with additional efficacy and safety of the process will be investigated.”
All of this goes against what I’ve learned about How to Use Ivermectin Against Covid and Not Get Sick and Die.
I know we’re really focused here on Covid, and the failure of the mRNA therapy, and rightly so. A doctor friend was fired this past Wednesday for refusing the shot, and another doc (family) is on the bubble now.
But as that medical technology (“progress”?!) seems to be building to a crashing crescendo (one hopes for stnning victory…or clear defeat, quickly) I am seeing a lot of other “progress” being pushed.
60 Minutes had a segment on a company trying to build the next version of supersonic flight (“Boom”) with United Airlines throwing in with them. NASA is working on reducing the sonic boom, and subsequent damage with an X-59 plane. The founder of the company, ex-Amazon, was viewing the end goal as “anywhere in the world in four hours, for one hundred dollars”.
And in the paper today, “Advanced Air Mobility” project featuring electric aviation. The graphic used shows a landing structure nestled in an older neighborhood that hearkens back to The Jetson’s, and maybe a little Dulles Airport”.
The dreams of “progress” seem (a) linear, (b) involve autonomous vehicles, (c) electric vehicles, (d) new controls over the laws of physics, and (e) unlimited resources.

Thank you. I like to think that the antibiotic analogy, exploiting a concept universally known via decades of messaging by the medical establishment (“beware breeding superbugs! use anti-Bs judiciously and complete your regimen!”), might help to create dialog about ADE that doesn’t chase its own tail.
Scientists deliberately use big language to obfuscate. “Publish or perish” being the mantra for success as a researcher who wants to actually get paid (i.e. receive grant funding and the like), your average scientific paper is therefore, these days, as much resume as objectively reported (and hopefully, objectively conducted) research.
Everyone lies on their resume, if only by using opaque requisite terms like ‘team player’ ‘objective’driven’ or whatever fashionable corp-speak currently is currently the popular evasive and obfuscatory Big Words/Big Ideas/Big Shit self-promotion drivel-of-driven-choice. I read in a book several years ago that in many Native American tribes that they acknowledged that some folks didn’t conform to heterosexuality and/or one of the two genders. One term used for such folks translates to “two-spirit.” I believe that this term is much simpler than trying to remember the letters in the acronyms “LGBTQI+.” It is simpler for the non-LGBTQI+ to have one blanket term that covers all who don’t fit into the usual mold that is not derogatory. I also believe that, in the long run, it is easier to simply have 3 pronouns: male, female, and unknown/undisclosed/other. We don’t need special pronouns for non-binary folks — we just need a neutral pronoun that is respectful enough to be used with humans. (“It” is not adequately respectful. “They” is sufficient. There is the plurality issue, however, “you/ye” was originally the plural 2nd person pronoun, with “thou/thee” the singular form. We say “a pair of pants” because a long time ago two leg-things were tied together at the waist. We can get over the plural issue.). The “binary” folks need pronouns kept simple. (I.e., if I’m not sure/don’t know, just use “they.”) It is my belief that we are making the LGBTQI+ thing bigger than it needs to be. Live and let live. There has always been a subset of the population that didn’t conform to heterosexuality and/or traditional gender roles. So what? What matters is the integrity of the person and how they interact with others publicly. (what they do with consenting adults privately is none of my concern.)

It is wonderful to see that some members of the clergy still have integrity. As a Catholic, it gives me hope.

Did anyone look at Michael Gunner’s penetrating eyes? (I remember when my ex’s eyes looked like that…it was frightening. I think that is one of the reasons why, to this day, when I am in the same room as my ex I avoid looking at him.) There is something not sane in eyes that have that look.

Pull up a Covid case history of Japan.
Roll out of vaccines begin Feb. 17th
The trough between the 1st and 2nd wave occurs around Mar. 7th. Around 1000 cases were reported that day.
The peak occurs about two months later, May 15th. About 6900 case reported that day. By this time only 1.9M people vaccinated (1.5%)
About this time, vaccination begins to accelerate.
There is a trough between the 2nd and 3rd wave that occurs around June 28th, around 1500 cases that day.
The peak of the third wave occurs 2 months later around Aug. 25th, 24K cases reported that day.
Sometime before the third peak, IVM becomes a buzz in Japan. Vaccination uptake is around 55M (43.9%)
There is around 100 cases being reported today, 96.5M (77%) people are vaccinated.
It’s good to draw and share your own conclusions.
My current take is that the virus will do what they due pretty much do irrespective of masks, social distancing and vaccination.
Vaccination campaigns seem to be counter productive. A new wave seems to originate following accelerated uptakes. Censored experts have discussed mechanisms behind this.
Japan is unique in some respects relative to western nations. For instance, not obese, more homogeneous in behavior.
Personally (I am no doctor), if Covid infection moved from respiratory to circulatory (things aren’t improving after 8 to 10 days) I would want IVM, HCQ, and some kind of corticosteroids on hand. As far as an antibiotic like AZ, I am pretty anti antibiotic, not opposed, just very conservative.
Triv: thanx for sharing your personal experience with vitamin D. With lungs as abused as are mine, it’s encouraging to think that the vitamin D I take might do more than help maintain strength in my immune system.
