It’s all too little too late. But some like Katie Porter will chip chip chip away at it. Better to go down fighting for economic justice vs looking the other way.

    Good morning Ilargi,

The reference to Katie Porter above is incorrect. That piece should be attributed to Janet Porter. This “mistake” allows me an opportunity to share some of Katie’s recent work.

Note: I am inspired by Congresswoman Katie Porter of Irvine CA. She has positive potential for shaping the future.

“The Trump legal team doesn’t have to prove the voting machines WERE manipulated, only that they COULD BE.”

Not so fast. As I was coached by D Benton Smith on yesterday’s thread – “How (as in the step-by-step kind of “how”) could a scheme of such magnitude actually be executed is not a substantially useful question because It doesn’t matter if a specific crime is possible. It only matters if a specific crime was actually committed.” Then…”The real problem is not the evidence. The problem is the Gatekeepers.” We already know there was fraud to some degree/at some level/somewhere – so what’s gonna be done about it and who will hold “them” accountable? Ohhh nothing and no one. Yes, everyday is Groundhog Day in the USA.

As for the CHS posting Oversupply – right-on! As a long-time reader of his blog and numerous books, I am following a roadmap he has outlined; it provides a practical and simple Way forward. You can leave the cartels/monopolists behind by: banking with regional and local institutions, reducing/eliminating debt, taking good care of the things you own (I drive a 1999 Jeep and 2009 Chevy truck), growing food, eating home cooked meals, trading locally with locally owned businesses, thoughtfully engaging in your community, LOVINGLY caring for family/friends/neighbors, making music and art, going outside, walking/exercising/yardwork, living on PURPOSE, smiling around town.

Caitlin Johnstone has it right with today’s post: “Biden Will Likely Be Worse Than Obama. The Left Must Lead The Backlash, Or The Right Will.”

RE: What!!!! Those ballots did not have any votes for anyone or anything on the down ticket.
A judge would like to see the proof.
RE: This woman is a powerhouse.

    Hummm….

There are some folks out there who voted for President only. It happens. Who does this and how common is it? Could it happen randomly 450,000 times spread across numerous battle ground states? What are the Biden-only ballot numbers nationwide? How do nationwide numbers compare to battleground numbers?

Not sure how Biden-only ballots were identified by the Powell team. Is that information “published” by the States?

How about the Trump-only ballots? What are the numbers? What are the numbers compared to the Biden-only?

Just because a ballot is marked Biden-only it is considered suspicious?

In trying to determine if Biden-only ballots are truly legitimate, they would need to cross check them against the voter rolls including matching the signatures. Those ballots would NOT be in the system had they flunked the REGISTERED voter roll and signature checks. So in 450,000 instances across the battleground states these rogue, Biden-only ballots slipped through?

Would investigators have to go further by contacting those Biden-only voters for verification – verification that they submitted the ballot after selecting the Presidential nominee – and nothing else?

What would you need to do in order to “pull off” a President-only markup scheme? How would you find the ballots to mark up? They are not sitting around in piles at the Post Office. Would you go to shared mailbox spaces (like at apartment complexes or Post Offices) and ask folks to hand over their ballot so you could do what YOU wanted with them? Who would surrender their ballot? I just can’t wrap my head around how you would implement this “scheme” on a large scale. Can you?

Things are uncomfortable and unsettling – around here there and everywhere. Face it. This moment is for following the anguish (not ignoring or denying) – for shattering myths/beliefs and letting go.

It is surprising to discover/uncover the depths of our attachments to “ideas”. It requires courage to be objective and actually DO SOMETHING/CHANGE SOMETHING based on new insight. The revolutionary first step is to catch yourself in the act of holding on.

TAE community members are always free to expand the narrative; it is what I appreciate the most (after the ART) about this site. I am happy to see many references to Charles Hugh Smith as his POV is always well researched, contemplated and presented. I have a desire to cast a wider net, to go beyond the moment and reflect on root causes. We are where we are due to the influence of money and the moneychangers who manage it to their eternal benefit.

“If there’s a figure who could compete with Mark Zuckerberg for the award of most destructive influence on modern American political life, it would be Charles Koch. He and his late brother, David, are the hard-right, libertarian gazillionaires behind almost every cruel, malign, extreme, divisive campaign that the GOP has run on in recent decades. Anti-regulation. Check. Anti-union. Check. Anti-healthcare. Check. Anti-environment. Check.”

RE: “Americans Spooked By Black Man In White House’ in itself perhaps just a tad racist? I mean, how is that different from saying ‘Americans Spooked By Orange Man In White House?”

The two are not the same. An equivalent might be – ‘Americans Disgusted By Liar In white House’.

Obama’s bottom line stated above is very intentional, especially with the choice of the word “spooked”. He is identifying the deep repulsion that existed at all times during his stint – and therefore drove the hate. Trump played his part in developing the fear early on (even before he started running) by stoking the whole Muslim and birther angle. It festered and was carefully massaged and managed. The result was seen in its full glory during the 2012 campaign; remember the lady at the John McCain town hall?

Obama’s bottom line was written in response to a line of self-questioning and self-reflecting on – how did/what did I do that created the conditions for a Trump to emerge? It was not written as an excuse for his failures (and there were many).

On a parallel note: Anything that you have a deep aversion to – that remains unaddressed – will eventually develop into something very destructive.

@ Dr. D – well said! This particular observation rings true to me…

“The more fraud, the more likely it is, the more NECESSARY it is, the more required, demanded, the more LEGAL it is, that they discard the vote. So the more windows the DNC boarded up, the more election monitors they ejected, the more certain it was Donald Trump would win via Legislative action. And that’s why he’s playing golf and not leaving.”

@ Mr. House – capturing my imagination!

RE: Tucker – fraud exists and some dead people voted. You should be worried!

I get why he is the “most watched news guy” on teevee. His formula for story telling is brilliant, including his style and strategic implementation of the topic. He draws you right in! What is left behind (intentionally) is the big picture perspective directed at quantifying the size and scope of the problem and the potential solutions for solving it.

Yes, there is voter fraud – it exists and it happened. And yes dead people voted as there appears to be evidence that some of those ballots were returned (Tucker does not say how he verified this). Here is the part of the story he failed to trace/examine in detail: who filled out those ballots, what could the impact have been, what could/should be done about it and who is responsible for implementing the improvements?

It is likely that the ballots of deceased folks were filled out by everyday people and not some organized fraud operation (unless it is discovered that all of these ballots went to the same address). So the problem is random. What is the scope?

Well…it’s easy/essential to bump the Social Security data file of deceased individuals (and you know those SS guys are on top of that list) within the last X years for any given State up against their 2020 Voter Data file. You would quickly determine EXACTLY how many questionable ballots were mailed in this cycle for any given State. This is basic data management 101 – and I am certain that your Boards of Election/Voter Data managers already take this step. Hell, when my husband passed in 2016 the Social Security folks let the bank know within days and our house payment drawn on his bank account would not process; if banks can ID the dead so can the Registrar of Voters! My guess is that these numbers are very small. Given the complex nature of the “systems” in place and the level of co-ordination required to manage them effectively, I can see how a few dead souls would still be hanging out on the voter rolls.

Tucker says that 41,000 people (in NV) were identified as not having voted and or did not update their registration in the last 10 years (so you are able to make queries and manage the data?!). Then the question becomes – should this group receive a ballot? Did they? I would NOT have mailed them one. The way to handle this group of potential voters would to have had the Registrar of Voters/BOE mail them an “update your voter information to receive a ballot” postcard in September. My guess is that this is done in some States but not all.

So Tucker, why not use your mighty platform to solve problems and not just talk about them? That means you have a responsibility to offer up potential solutions. How about asking your viewers to weigh in? They are on the ground and have additional expertise and insight. The numbers indicate that many people (on both sides) believe the election was not fraud free – so why not harness this opportunity?

Time for complete and total election reform! Time to develop national standards for maintaining Voter data that States are responsible to implement. If in-person voting is identified as more secure then make polling places convenient and available for everyone everywhere (no more standing in line for 4 hours). If there is to be “all in one day voting” then make it a paid, national holiday.

RE Kunstler: He’s a wise individual with an accurate interpretation of the transactions that have lead us to loincloths and machetes. His message would be much more effective by casting a wider net in lining up transgressions and expanding the timeframe (going back to at least 2000). It would BENEFIT us all if his next wave of commentary was inclusive and not exclusive – as this one-sided, limited focus is perpetuating division and resistance AND neutering his message. I truly believe Kunstler has something valuable to add to the conversation we desperately need to be having.

Our downfall is the result of an accumulation of lies + all-consuming tolerance for lying. It is not the lies of one President or one party. As long as we are only holding ONE side accountable we ALL lose.

For example, the group JK calls The Resistance is no different or more disruptive than the earlier versions. Dick Cheney was The Ultimate Resistance. Nobody was gonna stop us from marching off to war and nobody ever answered for the many crimes of the Iraq War (and never will). The lying slatterns (had to look that one up, seriously JK that is cave man talk) Colin Powell and Don Rumsfeld are leading cushy lives and doing just fine. Nobody ever faced an inquiry over their janky schemes and Julian Assange is in prison. Nobody paid any price for lying their asses off.

Next example, taking the playbook of the Newt-ster – Boehner, Ryan, and McConnell were a self-declared (and effective) Congressional Wall of Resistance. Much of that resistance was used in protecting sacred individuals/covering up the lies. When all the bandwidth is directed at “protecting” liars and lies there is nothing left over for working together to solve problems. The MSM and Tech monopoly power grew right under our collective noses.

    Anyway you get the point.

“No consequences for these actors in a rough and dirty game, but great consequences for the USA — a now lethal loss of faith in the essential fairness of American life and the institutions that were created to insure it. Shame on us for letting it get this far. “

Yea, shame on us. One half of America fully supports an openly lying liar for President. The other half fully believes their chosen one has complete integrity. But as long as their side is WINNING – as long as they can BLAME the other guy – then no one is ever accountable. Sounds like a perfect set-up for us to fail.

What I LOVE about Gustav Klimt Pine forest II 1901: how masterfully LIGHT is used to give the forest scene its all-encompassing presence. Can you feel the forest floor’s mothering energy in the pale green glow? Do the densely packed trees form a cathedral in the warm orange-brown woods? Do the glimmers of light shining through the windows of the woods invite you to pause? Resting…restoring….I am there.

    Thankfully we have Greenwald…

And Charles Hugh Smith (CHS) – “ALICE will find a way to escape the bonds of neofeudal serfdom.” Agree: ALICE will be leading the revolution lurking on the horizon. It doesn’t matter who wins the Presidency and the Senate, either way – ALICE will UNITE the factions and prevail.

One angle Gundlach is missing: The “enthusiasm” factor is present, disguised as quiet determination – and it is intensely high for removing an unfit President Trump.

Costco is WINNING with this one? Curious to see how consumers will respond. Direct access (on demand) to a high quality/reliable test is appealing. You might have thought that our private insurance companies would have stepped up to provide on demand tests for their customers. We know why they didn’t – because customers would have demanded that it be FREE (considering all that they are paying to have the insurance in the first place). The idea that a company could/should add VALUE to the lives of their customers – and the implementation of a value proposition – shows why Costco is respected and insurance companies are despised.

RE: Hunter. We need to see the bank statements. I am not convinced that the deliverables were in alignment with all the big talk. For those of us who have family members with “challenges” (bipolar, drug/alcohol addiction) – we KNOW there is an endless path of destruction that seems to follow them. Their promises never match the reality on the ground. It’s looking like the email evidence is damming – however how much talk was converted into hard cash?

Arttua: You give me a reason to acknowledge the lovers parting “cartoon” dots (featured above) – whose business is graphing the detachment of wages from productivity.

Agree that the Greater Depression is the elephant in the room (for the moment). One more factor playing into the mix is the divergence of wages and productivity that started in the 70’s. This issue alone would have made the future of paying work grim – now add in Covid – and you hit a wall. The growth of the working-age population WORKING is not gonna happen organically unless we reorganize the Way money is created and earned/distributed. No matter who wins the election, they will be making a hard pivot to addressing the economic needs (demands) of the people.

I think we need the whole Beatles song today.

    Verse 1]
    Oh yeah, alright
Are you going to be in my dreams
    Tonight?

    [Drum and Guitar Solos]

    Love you, love you
    Love you, love you
    Love you, love you
    Love you, love you
    Love you, love you
    Love you, love you
    Love you, love you
    Love you, love you
    Love you, love you
    Love you, love you
    Love you, love you

Pablo Picasso Self portrait 1965: is the perfect metaphor for our failing systems.

We’ve created our own near death experience through endless lies – with 9/11, WMD, Hope/Change, DNC non-hack hackiness, Russia Russia, Assange/Manning/Snowden, Covid leading the way.

It seems like the laptop is legit. We all understand why it turned up now.

You can be certain that Trump will relentlessly hammer Biden about it during the Thursday night debate (despite mic off). It would be very good strategy for the Biden campaign to acknowledge the following pre-debate: 1) confirm that the laptop belongs to Hunter 2) question the validity of the contents 3) distance himself from responsibility for the activities/actions of an adult child. “we all understand the impacts of drug addition on the lives of their family and friends” 4) Condemn influence peddling/revolving door activities, vow to fight it in a Biden Admin. + give examples of how this would be accomplished. The Biden camp could turn this into a positive but they don’t have the guts to do it.

Many women are natural collaborators, coordinators, cooperators. Their efforts to facilitate change on a local level, from the ground-up, are the most common – and potent. This article from The Intercept is a beautiful demonstration of women in positive action. (Even the pictures are powerful).

“Khaddit Beirut’s vision sets it in direct opposition to the dynamics of partisanship, dependency, and corruption that have defined Lebanese politics for the last 30 years. Geha and her colleagues posit a “big picture” that would overwrite the current, sectarian system — an alternative that poses both danger and hope. “We won’t get through this without the entire community working together — our fates are intertwined,” said Geha. “This makes the government nervous.” The more civil society rises to the task, the riskier the work becomes. “It’s one thing to say we hate our politicians — and it’s another thing to show that we have the abilities within our community to solve these problems without them,” she added. “That’s when they really start pushing back.”

If women had been in the majority in politics over time, would the outcome(s) to crisis have been different? When/where has this ever been the case – women completely dominating politics of a country? I am not confident that the next gen women leaders like Amy Barrett and Kamala Harris can transform the system – as top down solutions are only one half of the answer. If we work it from both ends we might have a chance.

Notice the difference – when examining the records and translating their meaning – of Amy Coney Barrett and her future potential impact on the Supreme Court vs Kamala Harris and her potential impact on the country as VP or President. How nasty we are depends upon which side you’re on. Both women are accomplished and both have potential for the future.

Unlike Pelosi, both women are of a younger generation. They will move forward in a different way – and make an impact that will be felt to our core. Let’s let them lead.

The days of Pelosi, Feinstein, and Hillary (to name a few) are coming to a close. Just like RBG who could not let go to insure an Obama nominated replacement, these women do more damage to their accomplishments by hanging on. Why not go gracefully into the night?

@Dr.D: nice riff on Time.com article.

Most everyone I know is voting to end Trump’s reign – I do not know anyone who is voting for Biden/Harris because they support their “platform”. The 2016 Trump voters in my circle are quiet (never were the MAGA hat wearing folks) – and are on the fence. People are not advocating for a Presidential candidate yet they are advocating enthusiastically for specific Senators and House members in and out of state. Interesting. Note: I am in rural NoCA in the mountains/forest, small towns, county govt. (no incorporated cities), sawmill and county education/gov are the largest employers, we run on volunteer power to bridge the many financial gaps.

Regarding the Giotto art of the day:

From the WebGalleryofArt:This is the fifth of the twenty-eight scenes (twenty-five of which were painted by Giotto) of the Legend of Saint Francis. When Francis’ father accuses his son before the episcopal tribune of squandering his fortune, Francis returns to him even the clothes he is wearing, and repudiates him. Giotto illustrates this sensational public separation, which signifies the decisive step towards the saint’s future life of poverty, by means of the two groups of people on opposite sides. The buildings further reinforce the gulf between the two worlds.

What is RENUNCIATION? What role does it play in modern life, if any? People of today rarely “walk the talk”, their actions (deeds) are not in alignment with their thoughts and words. Who today is willing to give up any worldly comforts to prove the integrity of their intentions?

    @generic and JohnDay:

I understand why you wrote in your preferred candidates; both Tulsi and Chafee are great choices. If you are serious about their potential to lead, then please reach out to both of them – and offer your services (talent, treasure, time) to help them create and facilitate a dialogue and model for the future. Better yet, why not identify and include local leaders who may be seeking a ROADMAP for building the Way forward?

I no longer believe that top-down effort for the change we need is possible. The current systems in place are beyond reform/improvement; the incremental change “solutions” being offered up by those in control will fail. We all know it. So why not focus on the few glimmers of potential in the Senate/House while rebuilding from a local/regional level?

Yesterday’s post by Charles Hugh Smith – “Why We’re Doomed – Our Delusional Faith in Incremental Change” says it all.

“As everything runs to failure, the only acceptable path is to do more of what’s failed spectacularly, a default to low-risk incrementalism that only accelerates the final inevitable collapse. ”

Both Biden and Trump are more of what has failed. However, I believe the Dems have a slight edge on potential in the existing system; the large group of young women they currently have in the House of Representatives (emphasis on Katie Porter) provide optimism. For that reason, my efforts are focused on younger, smart, new Senate and House candidates while I am building mentoring relationships supporting local leaders in my county/region. Until the final failure of current systems, I’m playing in both the old arena and on/in the new frontier.

Eyes wide opened this AM. The ‘Kidnapping Dissent’ article is today’s show stopper. The FBI is leveraging opportunities created by “extremist capitalist oligarchs” to exploit us – you can see it in real time unfolding in the Whitmer case (which is beginning to look like entrapment with the FBI leading the charge). Examining the role of the FBI in this case should be enlightening.

The article starts out by handing us the answer to yesterday’s question: How is it that folks come around to support issues/candidates/parties/banks/markets/industries/institutions/media/individuals that undermine their own self-interest?

Answer: “Stoked for decades by an extremist capitalist oligarchy which has slowly and methodically disabled the levers of democracy to achieve its interests, the latent racial tensions that haunt America’s collective psyche are being exploited in ways never before possible with the advent of online disinformation mashups, like QAnon, Antifa, BLM and others along the spectrum of modern-day social media constructs.”

The extremist capitalist oligarchs stole the “American settler” culture myth and used it against us. Divide and conquer – mission accomplished.

“A white separatist and former Marine named Randy Weaver would be targeted by federal agents in what came to be known as the Ruby Ridge standoff; a landmark event in the formation of an anti-government subculture in the U.S., underpinned by a loose framework of White Supremacist ideologies rooted in the foundational myths of American settler culture and encouraged by their radical billionaire patrons who built a political machine at their expense and have set the stage for our current political reality.”

How effectively the extremist capitalist oligarchs and the FBI work together to shape-shift our destiny. Durham and Whitmer cases have a common thread….the WINNING beneficiaries are not us.

Good morning and THANK YOU ByronBishop.

Your well written piece offers precise clarity on the root dynamics behind the “American nightmare” without taking us down the rabbit hole. Yes, billionaires and CEO’s rule in an emergent system where there is “broad public acceptance of the righteousness of policies” NOT in our best interest. All of their energy and money is focused on the promotion of these ideas (basically your entire bullet point list) while our precious, exhausted bandwidth is directed at fighting one another while chasing rabbits.

I am intrigued by your musing on populism as a technique, and the emergence of “a true populist leader” from the state level. I agree that the local frontier (including at the county/community level) will produce future leaders as well as templates for a Way forward.

Wahhhhhh. Wahhhhhh. Wahhhhhhhh. Jim Jordan please shut up…..

The Obama/Biden (Bush/Cheney) Administration knew it was hoax.

They knew the Trump Campaign (Iranians) didn’t collude with Russia (Weapons of Mass Destruction).

They knew they were wasting taxpayer money (innocent lives).

    But they didn’t care.

Ya see….THOSE WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE ARE NEVER HELD ACCOUNTABLE….ever. Years later Assange/WikiLeaks gives us visual/verbal evidence of the SLAUGHTER OF THE INNOCENT and who ends up in prison?

Connect the dots across all the plots. He/She who has the courage to do it will prevail – the time is coming.

@madamski: you are correct, JK would not be rallying the Deplorables as it is unlikely they would be reading his works (books included). He is rallying on behalf of the Deplorables, smacking down those who put them in the basket in the first place. A smackdown well deserved!

ALERT: JKunstler in freefall. Consumed by the red swans of his own imagination, he hysterically claims we’re on a roll celebrating Trumps Covid diagnosis. If he really wants to rally the Deplorables, why not give them some sanity with their spittle? Defending the President’s bad behavior by not calling it out (like Trumps debate moment where he mocks Biden for wearing a BIGGLY mask) – is not cool. How much more fun could JK have had taking us down the KARMA road? I mean, how crazy is it that the guy who does a major mask smackdown in the middle of a Presidential debate ends up getting Covid a few days later?

The Assange Revenge Trial….say no more.

Gender Reveal marquee is funny…thanks for the laugh.

Free Julian Assange! Tulsi and Thomas are on board. Let’s support them by contacting our representatives. I always call their “field” offices (not DC) where the staff is more available to engage in conversation.

RE: The Turley LAMENT: I appreciate his efforts to speak up, however by not exploring the ‘How did we get here?’ and ‘Who is responsible’ angles he misses the point (and his piece is another boohoo). Honest discovery would take responsibility for WHO we have become – and WHY. Lamenting the “despicable level of dishonesty that motivates this type of banking of secret recordings” is only promoting endless finger pointing and churn! Where does that get us? CNN and Anderson Cooper are a symptom. The disease is Greed – and how greed envelops and warps all who are exposed.

Greed is the pursuit of self-interest at any cost – above all else.

What outcome do we expect when greed and self-interest are at the core of most everything? Between reality teevee, Twitter + the impact of in real-time media, endless lies/the suppression of truth – we have created an alternative reality live streamed into our consciousness in massive doses.

What do Cohen, Wolkoff, and M. Trump have in common? They all functioned in environments where the pursuit of self-interest was the key core value – and in the end, everyone realized that everyone else was in it for themselves; trust was extinguished. What do people do in those circumstances? They look for ways to protect themselves. When threatened, they fight back creating a negative feedback loop with ripples. Their tell-all books are symptoms of something much more important.

“There is a new sense of an absolute license to engage in any attack or distort any fact for the greater good.” Um, no. This destroy attack/distort strategy has been going on for a very long time; it really ramped up ahead of the 2016 campaign, and we are drowning in its outcomes. Donald Trump, master of mayhem is guilty of implementing destroy/attack/distort strategy. So is the Russia/Russia/Russia gang, the media, both political parties, The Fed, Deep State, the banks, Corporate CEO’s. One more thing…there is no pursuit of the “GREATER GOOD” among those just mentioned. It just doesn’t exist in their reality.

@teri: what gives a blogsite value – in addition to the host’s content – are the contributions from the posters. When folks like you open up and share from your own personal experience it provides meaningful insight while creating/building community. Your post from a few weeks back was heartbreaking. What I appreciate now is your desire to translate your loss into advocacy. You are in the early phases of grieving. Give yourself time. And no regrets friend – the Light is YOU.
