On Thursday, an internal CDC slide deck was “leaked”. On Friday, an “official” document was presented. The first is more interesting, because it contains things that are ostensibly not meant for public consumption (how to present…). The second is made up of a lot of official looking terminology. What else? But both largely say the same thing: there is no difference between the infection rates of vaccinated and non-vaccinated people. Of course that is then dressed up again in calls to get vaccinated, they can’t help themselves…
In colorful language such as “the war has changed” and “Delta spreads as easily as chickenpox”, the CDC tries very hard to undermine -even deny- its own findings.
…Pfizer wants to give everyone a booster shot this fall. I was thinking they must have made some improved version against Delta, but no, it’ll be a third shot of the same “vaccine”. But wait, we just found it doesn’t work against Delta. The Israelis give it a 39% efficacy, which is not even enough to get an emergency authorization. Get it off the market then.

Camping in beautiful Dolores. Last night at the communal dish washing sink got into a conversation with a couple with a mild southern accent. They are ranchers. Like my partner and myself, Covid already swept through their family, with no deaths, no “long Covid.” Their kids barely noticed it. They went ahead and treated themselves to one injection each of 1 cc ivermectin after a couple of days, which seemed to help. They spoke about ivermectin like it was a commonly used word, sliding off of the tongue. Because it is. See, they keep ivermectin on hand, injecting it into all of the calves each year. Oh, yeah, they said, comes in injections and in topical preparations. On the veterinary medicine label it says for parasites and corona viruses. But some people were giving themselves too high a dosage — (I don’t recall how much) — but the amount they would give to a 1500 pound bull. A neighbor of theirs, Covid swept through his family and hit their neighbor’s mother pretty hard. After 4 days she was starting to have trouble breathing. The neighbor put 1.5 ccs of injectable ivermectin in his mother’s orange juice. The next morning she felt so much better she said that she felt like she could return to work. (!)

Some of my hens believe that I am god. One comes for a back scratching whenever I go to get the eggs. But not all of them. A few won’t even walk out of the way when I enter the hen yard to refresh their water!
My official position on covid is what deflationista called “excessive faith in (my) immune system”.
I deal with the following (see link below) on a regular basis. Some coronafied cousin of the flu with HIV rainbow colors and stitched-on bat wings is not going to touch me so long as I take care of myself and work to enjoy life and appreciate others. I take comfort in the idea some have that this is a planned populatin decimation aimed at the weak and infirm: I intend to stay strong. The virus doesn’t like the taste of strong blood, just like how dog fleas won’t jump to a human unless there’s no room left on the dog: we taste bad.

Of all the things I’ve heard advised to do against catching covid in a bad way, hydrating diligently, abundantly, and frequently is for me the single most important thing to do: keep that serum transport system running brisk. No global supply chain clogs. Keep those microships moving.
I’ll even quote the Bad Orange Man himself: “Don’t be afraid of Covid. Don’t let it dominate your life.”

Delta appears to be making a tentative debut in southern Wisconsin, especially in Milwaukee County. This appears to have began about a week after the Fourth of July weekend. Milwaukee County has ten times as many cases in three weeks, and Dane County (the state capitol and second largest city Madison is its county seat) six times as many. The numbers in and of themselves, though, are not yet what I would describe as alarming.
