Although 100 Billion Dollars has been promised for Ukraine how much actually gets through?
How many weapons are given to troops rather than being sold off? More seriously, how much money actually gets through to benefit ordinary Ukrainians? Finally how much humanitarian aid is not stolen?
My personal guesstimate would be that 20 billion dollars of aid actually arrives to those it is intended for.
anticlimacticParticipant‘Man made climate change’ was invented when activists realised global temperatures were likely to go sideways until 2030. This is due to an interaction between the solar cycle and ocean oscillations. This gives 30 years of warming and then 30 years of cooling. The cooling phase started in 1998 offsetting the global warming caused as the Earth recovers from the horrific ‘Little Ice Age’.
[An ‘oscillation’ is when large areas of warm surface water sinks below the colder waters beneath! This can be for extended periods, for example for the Pacific Decadal Oscillation these layers swap places every ten years! Real climate science is weird!]
There is no science supporting the idea that CO2 levels influence global temperatures. The only science shows the reverse. Current CO2 levels reflect global temperatures from 600 years ago! The data comes from ice and sediment cores.
Increased CO2 levels are a good thing. CO2 is essential for plants and they grow far better with more CO2. These huge Dutch style greenhouses often add CO2 to improve the plant growth.
Climate change is unusual weather that has happened before. There was a kerfuffle when part of Siberia reached 100 Fahrenheit. This also happened in Gnome Alaska in 1915. We just don’t appreciate the effects of 24 hours/day of sunlight for weeks.
These beliefs are likened to a religion and often means that followers stop using their intelligence. We are in the ‘New Dark Age’.
For example there is concern that rising sea levels will swamp coral islands, BUT sea levels have risen hundreds of feet in the past 10,000 years so why do these places exist? And why do they all happen to be at sea level? The answer is that they are piles of sand which rise and fall with sea levels. Some parts may sink and other areas will appear above the sea. A survey some years ago found that land area had increased by 50%. They are not going to disappear!
To add insult : the ‘greenhouse effect’ in actual greenhouses was disproved in the 1950s. Two identical enclosures were built with one covered in glass and the other with rock crystal. The glass covered area was 0.1C warmer, so an almost non-existant ‘greenhouse effect’. Greenhouses work by creating a barrier to the outside environment.
I feel sorry for those who have been brainwashed into thinking they must sacrifice everything to ‘fight’ climate change. They will achieve nothing apart from making a few people very rich and wasting huge amounts of fossil fuel!
‘Green’ policies are a bit like Jenga. They don’t seem to cause problems, but then things fall apart!
[Joseph Goebbels, Hitler’s propaganda minister: “If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it.”]
anticlimacticParticipantKill Switch
Saddam Hussein and Erdogan found out that Patriot missile systems ALSO have a kill switch, much to their surprise!
anticlimacticParticipantI was really surprised to see the BBC article about harvesting stem cells from babies. Then I noticed the date was 2006.
Nowadays the Ukrainians can commit almost any atrocity without comments in the Western media.
anticlimacticParticipantAn amusing anecdote from Ukraine :
Polish mercenaries are ordered to attack Russian positions around Bakhmut by Ukrainian commanders.
Poles point out it would be suicide as all previous attacks had resulted in death.
Commanders say Poles will be shot for mutiny if they don’t.
Poles immediately shoot and kill Ukrainian commanders! It may not be true but is very believable.
anticlimacticParticipantIRONY : COVID & FREE SPEECH
It is interesting that the suppression of free speech means that young left-wing zealots ensure that any doubts about the Covid Vaccines are suppressed. They are also those most likely to be vaccinated. The main people who experience ‘excess deaths’ are at the younger end. The conclusion is that the people suppressing free speech about Covid vaccines are the most likely to die as a result.
Neat.
Perhaps they should be nominated for the Darwin Award!
anticlimacticParticipantAs I understand it : Russian oil production costs 10 dollars/barrel. The oil companies keep 25 dollars a barrel and all the other money goes to fund the Russian government.
anticlimacticParticipantMACRON’S SINGLE GLOBAL ORDER
A World Government. The only fair democratic way to appoint representatives would be by country population :
China – 1.44 billion.
India – 1.40 billion.
United States – 334 million. …
Indonesia – 278 million. …
Pakistan – 227 million. …
Brazil – 214 million. …
Nigeria – 214 million. …
Bangladesh – 167 million. …
Russia – 146 million. …
Mexico – 131 million. …Errm! Perhaps not.
I am sure Macron means a government controlled by the West, but I am not sure how that could be implemented. By GDP perhaps?
anticlimacticParticipantFound Ballots
In the 2020 election there were the two famous USB sticks which appeared many hours after the polls closed, both with over 100,000 votes 100% for Biden. Statistically impossible.
After the polls close it will be known who has voted. More importantly who has NOT. All that is needed is to ‘vote’ on their behalf.
Did the GOP check with any of the ‘voters’ on these sticks to ask if they actually voted?
anticlimacticParticipantMUSK & THE EU
I think Musk could make it awkward for the EU, for example asking them to pay for all the costs of the censors, or offering to feed all tweets to an EU censorship bureau.
Failing that he could shut down Twitter in the EU with a link to a document explaining why he shut it down, a list of all those demanding censorship, a complete list of all censorship requirements, and a suggestion that they use VPN to access Twitter without censorship.
He could also give a list of all companies which have withdrawn advertising but saying that Twitter users should ‘not’ boycott them!
anticlimacticParticipant‘Earth can regulate its own temperature’
Yes, obviously.
Life has existed for around 3.5 billion years – it is not a fragile system. There has to be feedback loops to ensure its continuity.
For billions of years it was mainly cyanobacteria which created stromatolites and a poisonous [to them] waste gas of oxygen. For 500 million years this oxygen was consumed by most of the Earth’s iron turning to rust, but eventually it built up in the atmosphere.
Then came multicellular creatures – the Cambrian explosion [when CO2 was fourteen times more than today]. Life never looked back although almost all species that ever existed are now extinct [99%]. Extinction is just an opportunity for more successful species.
Reconstructions of global temperature over billions of years shows there is a definite upper limit, several degrees warmer than today. This is most likely down to water vapour, especially in the form of clouds. Higher temperatures means more clouds which increases the Earth’s albedo, reflecting more sunlight back into space and keeping the Earth cooler.
We have a reference point – the Moon, where surface temperatures range from 100C to -150C, but Earth is built to keep temperatures in a much more tolerable range.
anticlimacticParticipant“The strike has resulted in the neutralisation of the production capacities for nuclear weaponry.”
The last threat by Zelensky before the Russians invaded was that Ukraine would create nuclear weapons. This was not an idle threat as they had the means of production. I believe that this finally prompted Russia to take action.
anticlimacticParticipantMH17
Within minutes of the aircraft being hit Ukraine claimed it was brought down by the rebels
The rebels did have a captured BUK missile launcher, but did not have the radar and missile control units so it would have been impossible for them to down the aircraft.
The US can detect any missile launch from the Earth’s surface and found no evidence [at the time] of a missile launch in Ukraine.
A BUK missile would leave an exhaust visible for 60 miles and no one noticed any such trail.
Just before the incident a Spanish air traffic controller working in Kiev tweeted that they were going to ‘bring down a plane’. He ‘disappeared’.
MH17 normally flew over southern Ukraine but on THAT day it was directed over the war zone.
The tape with the conversation between Kiev ATC and MH17 was seized.
The UK recovered the voice data from the black box but never released it.
After looking at a large chunk of aircraft debris an OSCE observer said it was full of bullet holes.
The crash investigation was carried out in the US when it should have been done by Malaysia.
The most fundamental question is what would the rebels gain by bringing down a passenger aircraft? Ask any normal person and the answer would be ‘nothing’. There is absolutely no reason to do it.
The ONLY people who could possibly gain are the Ukraine authorities as a false flag propaganda exercise.
The most plausible explanation of what happened is that a Ukrainian fighter fired an air-to-air missile, which failed to bring down the aircraft, and it was finished off using cannon fire.
I used to think of Holland as a civiised country but this shows they are as scummy as the rest. They serve a huge injustice to all those Dutch who died.
anticlimacticParticipantThe Poles seem to hate Russia even more than the Ukrainian Nazis. I can understand them hating Communist Russia but I have no idea why they have a hatred bordering on insanity for the current regime.
They are willing to support the Ukrainian Nazis who venerate those responsible for the murder of 60,000 Poles in WWII.
When these missiles fell their first thought was to try and invoke war between NATO and Russia even before any investigation had been done! [Hence the ‘insanity’ comment.]
I would not be surprised to find out that Ukraine fired the missiles deliberately in order to create an escalation.
anticlimacticParticipantThe US is ‘expecting a winter fighting pause’!
A bizarre statement considering how Russia has used winter for their most effective fighting. They think of winter as their friend.
Temperatures in Ukraine can drop to -20C during winter. Russia builds weapons able to stand low temperatures as standard. Are western weapons equally capable.
The Ukraine troops will have a miserable time, dependent on a steady stream of food and fuel which may have problems getting through.
anticlimacticParticipantCOP OUT
I remember reading reports about previous COPs. The delegates arrive on first class flights or private jets, stay in 5 star hotels, and are driven round in limousines. It is very much ‘do as we say not as we do’. I doubt that any of their meals include insects [unless you include prawns and lobsters as insects!
anticlimacticParticipantMUSK COULD HAVE IT ALL!
If Musk is successful in opening up Twitter he could look to do the same in other areas.
What if he started a Youtube equivalent which does does not demonetise users or ban videos.
What if he starts a Facebook equivalent which does not censor or ban users.
What if he starts a Paypal equivalent which does not steal people’s money or ban organisations.
What if he starts a Patreon equivalent which does not ban users.
He may [initially] not have a great many content providers but they could each attract large followings making them commercially worth much more than the outlay in costs.
anticlimacticParticipantMETHANE
Clare Daly shows how ‘believers’ lose all intelligence when talking about the environment. They do not question but just blindly spout the dogma.
It took me a few seconds to find out that methane is only 2 parts per MILLION in the atmosphere and so it is not worth spending a single dollar in ‘fighting’ it.
It surprised how little methane there is as it is a byproduct made by microbes as they recycle organic matter, which will be occurring over most of the Earth. A different mechanism creates vast quantities of methane below the Earth’s surface.
I would have thought that 1 part in 500,000 would be about a day’s supply. Methane is extremely flammable so I would not expect it to last in the atmosphere for long, and it obviously doesn’t.
It is disturbing that something that is so obviously ‘not an issue’ has joined the list of boogy-men created to frighten us into making sacrifices which diminish our lives.
anticlimacticParticipantGoing Nuclear
Recently Russia claimed that a nuclear weapon would be exploded in Ukraine and blamed on Russia. Russia would know the weapon would have been supplied by the West and would assume it would be used as a pretext to send a nuclear strike against Russia. It would not be unlikely that Russia would decide to strike first. Instant WWIII!
A ‘Dirty Bomb’ could conceivably be created by the Ukraine without outside help so could be regarded as less threatening. If carried out it would depend on how severe the result was. It may be that Russia would feel the need to respond, perhaps by nuking Kiev. The West would then have a short time to decide whether to start WWIII or not.
If the result of the dirty bomb was extreme then Russia may feel the need to go further. Russia has claimed that the UK is involved and Russia promised their first nuke would be aimed at London, so they may feel the need to target London. Again the West would need to decide whether to sacrifice themselves to avenge an attack on London.
In Syria Russia often published details of planned false flag operations in order to make it suspicious if they still went ahead. I assume this is what they are trying to do here, hopefully with success.
It is incredible that any of the above is plausible. The risks far outweigh any possible rewards.
anticlimacticParticipant“Russian Language Should Become Extinct In Ukraine”
Shouldn’t be a problem when all the Russian speaking areas become part of Russia!
anticlimacticParticipantUrsula von der Leyen – Soros Puppet?
Whenever Ursula von der Leyen is mentioned I keep thinking back to her strange election. France and Germany had got together and agreed on their candidate. Suddenly their candidate was nowhere and this woman was plucked from obscurity to become president [much to the relief of the people who worked for her!] Her views strongly coincide with Soros and quite a few people think it was his doing.
anticlimacticParticipantChinese Chips
The US does not want to create the situation where China does not gain from the chip plants in Taiwan.
They could be destroyed in a moment OR it would be a MAJOR incentive to invade Taiwan and take direct control of these plants.
It would be devastating for the West.
anticlimacticParticipantDeveloping deadly strains
Covid is not the only thing :
World’s Deadliest Virus: ‘Spanish Flu’ Reverse Engineered, Recreated
It is not just the possibility of accidental release, it is also the possibility of deliberate release!
Some people, like Bill Gates, think the human population should be less than a billion. What if they had the opportunity to ‘make it so’. Ebola was touted as one of the best ways to reduce the human population, then three different strains appeared in three different countries around the same time.
The US has dozens of biowarfare labs dotted around the world, like the ones in Ukraine. Who knows what horrors are being created? Again, the worry is accidental or deliberate release.
Is there ANY oversight? If brief descriptions of all of the lines of research were presented to the public how many would be approved and how many would be regarded as ‘crimes against humanity’!
anticlimacticParticipantIndonesia makes a good point. If local currencies are not really used outside the country then the exchange rate is easy to manipulate. Some years ago Turkey’s GDP fell 1% and the Lira then fell 15%!
Russia’s insistence of payment in Rubles has shown what a dramatic effect it can have on a local currency, but how many countries have goods so needed that they can demand payment in their currency?
I was wondering if China could use its trillions of dollars to buy out dollar debt from various countries and replace them with debts in the local currency, and have payments in the local currency.
anticlimacticParticipantThe EU IS a garden and most of the people are regarded as weeds. Only the favoured are nurtured and the rest are only fit for compost or burning.
anticlimacticParticipantIn politics does ‘left’ and ‘right’ mean anything?
in the US :
The left are pro police state, with censorship and personal surveillance.
The left are against free speech.
The left are pro-war.
The left do not object to the accumulation of wealth by the 0.1%.
The left are keen to do the bidding of oligarchs like Gates and Soros.
The left are keen to promote COVID vaccines to fill the coffers of Big Pharma, even though they cause death and injury to [mostly] Democrats. Are they DINOs?
I think the confusion is that politics is a wheel, so the extreme left are adjacent to the extreme right politically, with similar aims and objectives.
According to the Collins Dictionary, fascism “is a set of right-wing political beliefs that includes strong controls of society and the economy by the state”, but communism is a set of left-wing political beliefs that includes strong controls of society and the economy by the state.
I like the quote attributed to JK Galbraith : “Under capitalism, man exploits man. Under communism, it’s just the opposite.”
anticlimacticParticipantI did read that Big Pharma controls 60% of the US advertising budget.
I am not sure how much this influences Twitter and Facebook’s attitude toward Covid vaccines.
anticlimacticParticipantPLASTIC PEOPLE
In the UK recycling centres often bale up plastic [using plastic] and ship it to Sweden where it is burnt in incinerators to produce electricity. As one person commented ‘Why can’t we do that here?’. Burning plastic produces toxic fumes so the incinerator must have efficient scrubbers to remove them.
Burning plastic removes it from the environment, produces electricity and remove the toxins they can produce. It is more energy efficient to burn plastic bags and make new ones but activists have insisted they must be recycled which is why they are shipped thousands of miles away. A TV program about this showed that some of this plastic waste can be commercially recycled but some is not and is just dumped in the open. One shot showed most of one pile were shopping bags from the UK.
I think all domestic waste should be incinerated rather than go to landfill. Even the ash may be able to be recycled in breeze blocks or added to tarmac for road surfacing. Existing landfill sites could also be used as fuel.
When it comes to plastic waste in the ocean there was an article on TAE some time ago which claimed that 80% originated from Chinese rivers and 10% from the Nile [If I remember correctly]. It should be easy to prevent this waste entering the oceans.
Another area of concern is food waste. It could be fed to pigs but that is banned because there is a remote chance it could contain foot and mouth disease. It would need heat treating first, but it may be possible to do this using waste heat from the incinerators. This waste heat could also be used for district heating to further maximise energy efficiency, depending on the siting of the incinerator. The pig manure could be used in biodigesters to produce methane and the leftovers used as fertiliser.
The technology exists to deal with waste, and an integrated approach could increase the benefits.
anticlimacticParticipant“The United States declares war on Russia, Germany, the Netherlands and France”
This article shows how weak Germany actually is. It has no friends and any power it had in Europe will soon be gone.
Hungary and Poland have been given a hard time by the EU in recent years. It is well known that Soros wants regime change in these countries and I am never quite sure how much influence he has in the EU.
Hungary and Poland seem to have sorted themselves out in term of gas supplies for this winter, so two fingers to the EU.
anticlimacticParticipantPUTIN
Replacing Putin has been an aim of the West for years, but who would replace him?
RT had an article a some time ago where they looked at all the popular politicians who could possibly replace him. One was on the left [Communist] but all the others were on the far right.
Putin has been incredibly restrained in his dealings with the West despite massive provocation. The article concluded that after Putin Russia would become far more aggressive.
anticlimacticParticipantNuclear Weapons in Poland
The Cuban missile crisis has always been portrayed as Russia threatening to install nuclear missiles in Cuba and then backing down.
It is only recently that I read that the US had nuclear missiles in Turkey at the time and that they were subsequently removed.
This indicates that Russia used Cuba to make a point, successfully.
Russia has said it would use nuclear weapons as a last resort. I interpret this to mean that if Russia was being attacked and conventional weapons were not adequate for defense then they use all means available to protect Russia, including nuclear.
If Poland did host nuclear weapons what would Russia’s strategy be?
anticlimacticParticipantSalient – A position where you have enemy forces on three sides
Killing Field – When the fourth side is closed off!
anticlimacticParticipantWhile the UK directly uses only a tiny amount of Russian gas it is still indirectly dependent on Russian gas. It has gas interconnects to Norway and Belgium and the currents situation means these supplies are limited and expensive.
The UK also has electrical interconnects with Europe, especially France. Again supplies will be reduced and expensive.
anticlimacticParticipantAre Green Parties ‘Green’?
Green policies don’t seem to make sense.
Spending hundreds of billions on fossil fuel to create ‘renewable’ energy. These energy sources have to be replaced every 10 to 30 years and are difficult to recycle, so mostly aren’t. This means using more fossil fuel to provide a constant source of new materials. The only thing ‘renewable’ is the power source : sunlight and wind.
The current ‘green’ push is for fully electric cars at the same time as they are trying to close down every reliable source of electricity! The German Green Party is still insisting on closing the last remaining nuclear plants this winter. Lithium batteries only last 10 to 20 years and are difficult to recycle, so mostly aren’t. This means using more fossil fuel to provide a constant source of new materials. The higher cost of fossil fuels increases the cost of these raw materials – lithium has tripled in price over the past year.
The European power grid was built as a stable source of electricity with built in redundancy. Like Jenga you can remove several pieces and it will still be stable, BUT at some point it will completely collapse. We appear to very close to that point.
Some years ago India banned green parties when they realised their influence was being used to prevent Indian industries from competing with US companies. Are Europe’s Green Parties similar trojan horses?
anticlimacticParticipantThere is a fascinating chart on TAE [July 7th] showing CO2 levels through the ages. It was FOURTEEN times higher in the Cambrian era!
It fell over 75% in the Carboniferous era for an interesting reason. Trees invented a new material : lignin. It took over 60 million years for nature to come up with something to recycle it. Trees grew and died but did not rot and ended up forming coal deposits.
The chart shows that at the moment we have the lowest of CO2 ever. Plants grown in atmosphere of 800 ppm CO2 are HUGE. If CO2 levels doubled there would be much more vegetation, more food, more life.
The seas will NOT become acidic. They are extremely alkaline and additional CO2 will reduce the alkalinity slightly. Above a certain level CO2 reacts directly with seawater to form insoluble carbonates – it will become a carbon sink.
Doubling CO2 would literally mean the greening of the Earth.
anticlimacticParticipantI live in the UK and am concerned about a Labour government. The party has recently declared that its primary aim is to fight Climate Change. They are also promising to nationalise all the energy companies.
While voters may think energy will become cheaper and plentiful it is more likely that power plants will be closed and energy will become more expensive and scarce.
anticlimacticParticipantClimate ‘Change’
Siberia hit 100 Fahrenheit recently – so did Gnome Alaska in 1915
Russia had a problem with crops some years ago due to a kink in the jetstream – it happened previously in 1889
Australia’s Victoria province has floods every 21 years. It was predicted by climate activists that they would stop coming. They build desalination plants and filled the reservoir meant to store floodwater. The floods came and people died
California has had droughts lasting 1,000 years. It only became wetter as Europeans were landing on the west coast.
The ‘predictions’ are that it will become hotter/colder/wetter/drier somewhere sometime. Wow! How vague can you get? Computer models written by activists are hardly a reliable source of information, especially when they refuse to share the source-code so it can be checked by grown-ups.
The bad weather may be unusual but has normally also happened in the past meaning it is not reliant on the current composition of the atmosphere. Predicting there will be bad weather and blaming ‘x’ is total garbage science.
anticlimacticParticipantExperiment to see if I can add a graphic!
anticlimacticParticipantThe ONLY evidence of ‘man-made’ global warming is that between 1970 and 1998 both CO2 levels and global warming were increasing. In 1998 global warming stopped, showing that the warming was a correlation and NOT causation.
A new ‘man-made’ disaster had to be invented : Climate Change. This is normally just unusual weather that has happened before.
It has been likened to a religion and the followers believe ANY prediction without the need for any proof [or intelligence!]. When predictions fail it is not a problem as new predictions will be made. The belief is based on ignorance so is incredibly difficult to argue against as they do not realise how ignorant they are. They ‘know’ they are correct so deny any facts which contradict the dogma. Unless people question they won’t find out.
Some say we are now living in a new Dark Age where science just becomes a matter of belief. Even the basic fact of male or female is now just a matter of belief to some.
It does make a few people very rich of course!
anticlimacticParticipantPart of Ukraine is now Russia but not all of this territory is under Russian control. There are in effect Ukrainian soldiers on ‘Russian’ soil.
I am sure that Russia will move swiftly and with strength to remove these Ukrainians.
I am still wondering about what Russia’s plans are for Odessa.
