It’s funny how important it is to us that sources of information agree with our interpretation of it. We require folks like Kunstler or The Saker or, fer the love of Hollandaise sauce, Raul Ilargi Meier, all three of whom are known for providing reliably accurate information and attempting to correct misinformation they unwittingly delivered, interpret the information they provide us with in the same way we do, using sufficiently similar confirmation biases as we prefer.

I got both in one hard slap to the jay from my old man when I told him to fuck off after he demanded he do something that totally contradicted everything he’d taught me about being a man, a human being, etc. (He was a great guy and felt horrible about what he’d done.)
But Orwell was just being asymmetrically cute. Where he fumbles, I feel, is in using the word ‘rebel’. All one has to do to become conscious is wander off on a different path for a bit — something we all do now and then — and then pay attention. Rebelling is a different, inherently reactionary act.
It’s the paying attention that’s so hard, imo. it is uncommon for people to see a thing as just the thing that it is, rather than what they’ve been taught and conditioned to believe the thing is or at least should be.
But that slap in the face was a great cognitive blessing to me, even if it trashed my home life and family relations. I thank those lucky stars, that I see whirling around my head post-slap, for that adamant rupture of my head from the anal cavity society/school/religion had been telling me was where it belonged.

I have no faith in Elon as a savior of what I deem good and just. I just see him as a thing doing things, things that currently by their nature will foment and support for a while a period of relatively expanded public discourse with considerably improved data hygiene. When I hear people sneer and say how foolish others are for believing in Person X to stand up for what people deem good and just, I hear the sneerer inadvertently/unwittingly confessing that he, too, is scanning the horizon for a savior.
Whether it’s Who to Blame or Who to Trust, I hear a yearning for Some One to fix things. (In that case, vote for me! I’ll fix your ass!) I too scan the horizon. I wouldn’t even object to a real live holy-rolling Savior come to cleanse the world yadi ya. But mostly I scan the horizon to enjoy its ineffable beauty while I still can.

Back in the wild-eyed 70s-90s, batteries as green energy solutions were to be giant lightning-harvesting wonders, not energy-burning capsules filled with toxic chemicals. Not technically very feasible, to say the least, but the basic conceopt still has potential if we bypass grid/electricity thinking.
Imagine using natural geology and a whole lotta lightning rods grounding electricity into large underground reservoirs of saline water, setting it up so there’s enough resistence to heat the water as the juice flows through it. Sort of a home-made geothermal energy source.
And then, imagine us not using aid energy to run machines or even simple water pumps, but “merey to keep a large chunk of acreage significantly warmer through the winter months after charging up on summer t-storms.
“Scienttifically” feasible? Me no know. But thinking outside the concept ‘energy-runs-machines-that-replace-slaves makes sense both morally and functionally.

Seabirds: I think that the medical journal you mentioned is white-washing how things covidiotic are going down in Russia. The things they say are technically true but lack a ton of rather terrifying context. I think the article is intended to make Russia look medically stupid by the standards of Western covidiotic medicine.
This guy does a good job of conveying unpleasant truths about Russia’s covid response and medical system in general. I don’t agree with his conclusions (‘it’s all a Davosian reset scam’!) but have never caught him lying.
My answer to my own question is that Putin is too busy winning a war of existential survival against the NATOstan bloc to deal with that stuff. If what Russia has done with covid is as as bad as what most NATOstan nations have done to themselves, then Russia will have wide open arms for immigrants to Russia, cuz it will have lots of room. Russia seems likely to become the world’s Last Great Haven, containing a population of feisty independent thinkers and people with congenitally superior immune systems who survived their nation’s attempts to save them from s ghostly bogey-man disease.
But that’s just my holding-place guess. Something we don’t know is going on, I believe. China has driven itself to the beginning of internally driven regime change by obsessing on covid above all other things. It’s insane, but insanity is symptomatic, not causative. Something about covid drives China NUTS, so I suspect it knows things about all this that we don’t.

Of course Elon is losing advertisers. I suspect that it won’t be long that he makes a vocal stand against the vakzines. Access to Twitter’s traffic alone should show him how much more opposition there is than official acknowledgments admit. He should be able to time it just swell, and then make those advertisers pay higher rates (if they’re still solvent; things are starting to crash fast. How would the average bloke know, seeing as how reality has been in freefall in the USA since we won most of Europe after WWII, and then enjoyed a few decades of global hegemony until 2014?) THe season is officially begun. THe malls have opened yet one more year without requiring human sacrifice, and many have bought their new, artificially colored Xmas trees:
“A woman was driving pastthe farm when she spied a purple tree among the traditional green varieties. So she stopped to take a photo and send along to her cousin, who loves the color purple.
That prompted the question, how does the tree turn purple?
She concocted a story, saying a special snail that only lives in Naples used to ingest the tannins from grapes that drop on the ground and then excrete the byproduct into the ground, which in turn leeches into the tree roots and gives the trees their purple color.
David Hanggi, co-owner of the family farm, said she put it on Facebook and the story went viral.
“That’s of course a joke and not really what happened. It’s a great story,” Hanggi said. “I took care of that girl when she came down to get her tree that year because our business exploded even more because of it.”
“It scared the bejeebers out of me, and so I went out and bought a lot more paint and painted a lot more trees,” Hanggi said.
The malls show no mercy when it comes to Xmas music and neither do I:
