This from Sundance is brilliant, and he thinks Trump is aware. . If Trump makes peace with Russia, their oil comes in to the market and lowers the price enough to sink the Iran regime. End the war with Iran, end the war in Ukraine. Lower the price at the pump. One fell swoop.
• One Major Shift Can Solve the Iran Problem and So Much More (CTH)
History has a tendency to rhyme. There is one move on the geopolitical chessboard that can put all of the U.S. and President Trump’s problems into an immediate checkmate. However, the forces against the alignment are significant. If President Trump can end the Ukraine-Russia conflict and end the sanctions regime against Russia, everything changes.
Bringing Russian oil, gas and natural resources back into the global economy not only removes all leverage held by Iran, but it also wipes out intransigent resistance against the geopolitical reset and upends over a hundred years of EU and Commonwealth financial manipulation.
Not only does the Iran problem immediately shift, but so too does any/all leverage carried by Canada on behalf of London and the broader commonwealth structure. With a U.S-Russia strategic economic alliance, something factually stated at the end of every message from Moscow, the dynamics of global structures is entirely different. However, all the oppositional interests are well aware of the consequence and their actions reflect it. The United States and Russia ended World War II. A U.S-Russia alliance would change everything.Who would benefit from such a strategic partnership? The USA, Russia, India, China, Saudi Arabia, the Gulf States (GCC), ASEAN countries and even Japan and the Caribbean, including Cuba.
Who would oppose such a seismic shift? The U.K, specifically the financial constructs within the City of London, Canada, the EU-NATO states, all the Commonwealth countries and the Five-Eyes group (Australia, New Zealand, Canada, the U.K and the U.S. Intelligence Community).
Now we have appropriate context for the dynamic of the issue, along with context for exactly why all oppositional elements are conducting current activity. A strategic partnership between the U.S. and Russia represents an existential threat to all the old systems – everything. The first step would be solving the Ukraine-Russia conflict. So, let’s look at that problem specifically and how a transactional approach might frame the four corners of an end to it.
Russia now occupies approximately 20% of the Ukraine land mass in eastern Ukraine and they are not going to ever concede it again. For the Federation of Russia, represented by Vladimir Putin and the overwhelming majority of those within influence inside the Federation, the NATO encroachment is an existential threat long term. Russia views the objective of the legacy system powers as intent on taking Russia apart. Ukraine represents their immediate shot to stop this from happening. All prior agreements and treaties by EU and NATO agreements were violated. Russia will no longer allow the wolves to circle their camp.Looking at the challenge through the transactional prism, a ceasefire may include Russia retaining their current land gains, while giving up the confiscated $500 billion sovereign wealth fund as the purchase price. The fund could be considered reparations by Zelenskyy and his EU-NATO handlers, it matters not. What matters more than the sovereign wealth fund in this transaction, is the elimination of western sanctions.
With sanctions removed, immediately the Russian economy surges with sales of oil, gas, minerals and raw materials back to the global market. With the Iran conflict still afoot all that oil and gas carries a higher value. That is the pricing dynamic that makes loss of the Russian sovereign wealth fund more contextualized. However, with all of those abundant natural resources now back in the global supply chain, the leverage for all other western countries that rely on their natural resources, specifically Canada, is diminished.
Russian oil and gas could flow immediately and easily back into Europe. Currently, the power structures within the EU, those more concerned about raw power and control than the financial health and livelihood of their citizens, are against a return of cheap and abundant energy. They should think about the return of lower energy costs as a value to their economies and people; however, the EU ‘leaders’ are more concerned about the geopolitical reset -ultimately their diminished power, that would lay in the background.
As a consequence, the EU doesn’t really care about how much financial benefit there would be to their economic condition. For them this is a zero-sum power issue. Just as Russia doesn’t want to be torn apart by the grand ambitions of London, so too does the EU not want to lose the power to assist in the tearing apart aspect.
The rest of the problem is one of the future. A problem of security guarantees; of agreements that are bolstered against some significant non-wavering constant that can ensure no further expansion of NATO intent and no further threat to create purposeful conflict. The United States has constant regime changes, that takes the U.S. out of the ability to be the guarantor. However, THAT level of security guarantee is possible through the one construct that has put tentacles into every geopolitical economic structure in the world, CHINA.
There is a visible deal where President Trump sets up the transactional end to the conflict, the payments and economic mechanisms that conclude the Ukraine-Russia war, while Chairman Xi sets up the security guarantee aspect by leveraging everything that Beijing has created for decades. As paradigm resetting as that sounds, it’s not impossible. In fact, I would argue that’s exactly what China is saying HERE.
The Washington Post is getting the direction correct, but they are unaware of the destination. TDS infects all media analysis. They put the review of Chairman Xi’s comments through the prism of anti-Trumpism. That’s not at all what this looks like to me. From my perspective, Trump is looking to solve problems beyond his tenure in the White House. After all, how many times has each Trump supporter said, “well yeah – great, but what happens after Trump leaves office?”Think about it carefully, through the prism of peace and stability – while understanding that President Trump is structuring long-term U.S. economic stability and retaining the perspective that Beijing influence in U.S. economic matters must be removed. Handle the transaction. Solve the Ukraine-Russia crisis. Form a strategic partnership and build fortress north America. Leverage the systems that Beijing has already put in place, including leverage upon the EU, and make Chairman Xi the minder for everything OUTSIDE our hemisphere.
President Trump looks to have gamed this out quite well. The tool that cuts the gordian knot is in the relationship.

Operation Economic Outcast.
• Wright and Bessent Explain the Squeeze on Iran (David Manney)
Energy Secretary Chris Wright got a blunt question Sunday morning: After seven months of fighting with Iran, are Americans looking at a new normal of tanker strikes, military escorts, and an open-ended confrontation in the Persian Gulf? Wright didn’t duck it. The United States remains open to negotiations, he said, but its immediate military mission includes stopping Iranian oil and gas exports. He plainly described the goal: “We are strangling their economy” to force a change in Tehran’s policies or leadership.Read more …
From the Conservative Daily News: “Secretary of Energy Chris Wright outlined America’s long-term goal for securing global trade passing through the Strait of Hormuz even as its conflict with Iran threatens such traffic. Wright touted the sustained traffic transiting the Strait of Hormuz before telling Dana Bash during a “State of the Union” interview Sunday that securing the passageway “shouldn’t be just the United States’s responsibility” looking forward. His appearance on the CNN show comes the day after U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces reported taking out three Iranian oil tankers.“The president says the Strait of Hormuz is under U.S. control. Just yesterday, the U.S. struck three Iranian tankers in retaliation for Iran firing missiles at U.S. warships. Meanwhile, The New York Times reports that Iran struck at least 23 merchant ships in the Strait in the last two months,” Bash said before asking Wright, “Does that sound to you like it’s a situation completely under control?” “Our transits through the Strait are averaging over 9 million barrels a day now. And with the access pipelines that go around the Strait, we’re probably two-thirds or more of pre-conflict flows,” Wright responded. “So Iranians are still causing trouble, but the United States Navy is winning that battle.”
Bash then asked Wright if he is suggesting that the U.S. Navy is going to have to stay in the Strait “indefinitely” to maintain the current flow of oil and tankers. “Oh, I think we’ll see a change in the Iranian regime, or certainly a change in their policy if they want to become a trading nation again and engage with the world,” Wright said. “But they have not lightly given up their nuclear weapons program.”The comments came after U.S. forces struck three Iranian oil tankers Saturday. U.S. Central Command said Iranian ballistic missiles had targeted American warships.
Two tankers were disabled, while a third was destroyed. The military said the ships belonged to a shadow network helping finance Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Wright’s argument was straightforward. President Donald Trump still prefers a negotiated settlement, but the administration isn’t counting on one. Wright said Iran’s nuclear capabilities are being degraded militarily while its economy is being squeezed through reduced energy exports and sanctions. He also left open the possibility that a nuclear agreement might have to wait for a different Iranian government. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has been delivering the economic half of the same message.Bessent said Saturday that Trump’s blockade and Treasury sanctions amount to “one of the most powerful one-two punches” ever used for economic isolation. From Breitbart News: “During an appearance on FNC’s “My View” on Saturday, Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent praised the impact of U.S. policy regarding Iran. According to Bessent, the blockade paired with economic sanctions was having a crippling impact on the Iranian regime. “Just to stay with the Strait of Hormuz for a moment, you’ve also noted that you say the U.S. and China actually have more in common than we disagree on when it comes to safely navigating the Strait of Hormuz,” host Lara Trump said.
“I think the question for a lot of Americans is really how much can we trust China? They are still taking oil from Iran, so how do you navigate that situation?”Bessent replied, “Well, one of the things we’ve done, and what the president’s done, is fantastic sequencing. So we are running Operation Economic Outcast right now, and this is the greatest economic isolation operation in the history of the world. We are going to asphyxiate this regime.”
“Now we have the blockade, and because of the blockade, the oil is not getting out,” he continued. “So there’s probably only about 30 million barrels of Iranian crude oil left that China hasn’t bought. So that will run out soon, and there will be no problem with China buying because they have no product, so the blockade is — the blockade is working. It’s working like nothing we’ve ever seen, and the combination, everyone says, “Oh, sanctions don’t work. I can tell you, blockade and sanctions are one of the most powerful one-two punches in the history of economic isolation.” He argued that China’s purchases of Iranian crude will eventually become irrelevant if Iran can’t move the oil out of its ports.
The administration has given the financial campaign a name: Operation Economic Outcast. Treasury launched it Aug. 24 with the stated goal of cutting Iran off from the financial networks, banks, oil revenues, and sanctions-evasion systems keeping the regime funded. The campaign moved again Friday when Treasury sanctioned a Turkish financial institution and its subsidiaries for allegedly helping Iran’s Revolutionary Guard move money internationally.
From the Treasury Department: Announced by Secretary Bessent on August 24, 2026, dubbed Economic D-Day, Operation Economic Outcast is severing the remaining economic lifelines that sustain the Iranian regime. Treasury has mapped the networks, facilitators, and financial channels that Iran uses to smuggle oil, evade sanctions, and fund terror. Working with partners across the U.S. government, the European Union, United Kingdom, Gulf partners, and others, Treasury is targeting any source of the regime’s illicit revenue, as well as its sanctions evasion schemes to move funds.

• View from Russia: Experts on why Kushner and Witkoff came to Moscow (RT)

The latest visit to Moscow by Jared Kushner and Steve Witkoff has triggered a fresh wave of speculation in Russia about what Washington is really trying to achieve. With US President Donald Trump under pressure at home and much of his administration’s foreign-policy bandwidth consumed by Iran, the trip has been interpreted less as a breakthrough mission than as a signal – one that may be aimed as much at domestic American politics and alliance management as at Russia itself.
Russian analysts see the visit in different ways. Some believe the Americans are simply sounding out Moscow before returning to Kiev, trying to gauge whether any space remains for movement on Ukraine. Others argue the mission is part of a broader performance of diplomatic activity by the Trump White House, intended to project momentum where little real progress is possible. Still others view it as an exercise in ‘shuttle diplomacy’, useful mainly for information-gathering and atmospherics rather than for producing concrete results.Roman Romanov, American studies specialist, lecturer at the Faculty of International Relations, Political Science, and Foreign Regional Studies at RSUH
I have two explanations regarding the visit and the format of this visit. First, the American side has already shown several times that it is interested in maintaining dialogue with both Moscow and Kiev. And this visit – or rather, this tour – is aimed at “synchronizing watches.” What does that mean? The Americans are trying to understand what conditions might be acceptable to the parties for resuming an active negotiating process. In other words, what can be offered to both sides so that they are prepared to move the dialogue in the direction of progress. The second explanation is purely domestic-political for the United States. Against the backdrop of the failure of the Iran campaign, it is necessary to demonstrate some other kind of political activity that at least theoretically resembles progress with a concrete result. Trump has done this kind of thing more than once.
Do they have any ready-made proposals? I do not think so, because, first, at the moment a significant part of US foreign-policy resources is concentrated on Iran, and second, because despite the constructive role of both Witkoff and Kushner, they still act more as envoys of the American president on a specific issue than as direct participants formulating the American president’s position on this issue.
It is difficult to explain why they first went to Moscow and then to Kiev. One can assume they first want to hear Moscow’s stance, because it is in a more advantageous position – Russia is advancing, winning on the battlefield – so the US believes it would be more expedient first to hear out Moscow’s demands and gauge how much they’ve changed since August 2025, since the meeting in Anchorage.
At the same time, although we do not observe public participation by the EU, through closed channels the European Union surely communicates its interests. Their representatives are not there, but the position the Americans are shaping includes the EU’s position as well.
Dmitry Dtobnitsky – Russian political scientist specializing in American studies, expert in US foreign and domestic policy
These negotiations will continue – that’s the only perspective they have. What are we negotiating with the US about? About how to stop the conflict in Ukraine? Let’s be serious. First, this conflict is much broader than Russia’s military operation. It is a geopolitical conflict with very high stakes, the kind that happens with Europe once every several decades or even centuries. The Cold War period with the US was still an exception in that there were at least attempts to play at détente from time to time. The world has entered an era of major transformation. In that sense, the narrow focus is – will they reach an agreement on Ukraine? No. Every time you think about that, you have to recall how it all started, why it is like this, how wrongly the world is structured, how important it is for Russia to insist on its interests, why the European bureaucracy itself cannot accept that, because otherwise that would mean the end of both it and the political class of many countries. Why can’t this conflict stop? Because it can’t be settled.
Someone has to win. Just as with the US and Iran (which, incidentally, is a much more local conflict) – it is impossible to agree, there can be no deal. There can only be some movement in which one of the sides explicitly or implicitly recognizes its defeat. It may not be total defeat, but at least at some stage one side wins and the other side does not recognize it. Such a process will last a long time, but in the end there will still be some de facto consolidation of the results of this conflict. Not a negotiated one, unfortunately, but a factual one. Diplomats may formalize such a conclusion, or they may not. Frankly, that is no longer important.
When we talk about Russia-US negotiations on Ukraine, there are two extremes, and both miss the essence. Yes, we are negotiating, and we constantly demonstrate that Russia and the US have nothing to fight over. We are ready to coexist with the US on the same globe. That is exactly why Putin says: “Of course, Kushner and Witkoff are welcome guests, come. What else should we show you from Moscow’s kitchen?” You see, the US cannot conduct negotiations on Ukraine because it cannot force either Kiev, London, or Brussels to accept Russia’s reasonable demands. And how are they going to pressure Russia? I think the Trump administration more or less understands that it is pointless. So what kind of negotiations on Ukraine can there be?
Some say [Russian Finance Minister] Siluanov and [US Treasury Secretary] Bessent will come to some understanding, and perhaps there will be incredible financial, economic, or investment cooperation between the US and Russia. I have said many times that there can be no serious cooperation between Russia and the US. There are neither material nor geopolitical grounds for it. Are we now supposed to throw away all the achievements of localizing our civilian aviation industry and start buying Boeing again?
Are we going to hand over half of the most convenient Arctic territory on the planet to the US? Is that it? Or are we going to sell all Russian oil through Mr. Kushner? How do you imagine that? Some say: “Investments will come here.” But that would mean that instead of creating a sovereign financial system, we would say: “No, let’s reintegrate ourselves back into the collapsing dollar system. Let’s support it with our achievements of the past five years.” It’s obvious that there can be no real cooperation.
One can have symbolic cooperation. It is a wonderful look when two great countries can do something together. The most we will get is a hockey match and an ‘Apollo-Soyuz’. It must be understood that these are purely token steps, which only demonstrate that nothing particularly substantial can happen. It does not mean it will be forbidden. It simply will never play a substantial role. Even in 2019, before Covid and the military operation, trade turnover between Russia and the US was negligibly small. And that is understandable: it is geopolitics, geoeconomics – you cannot jump over that. And now, after so much effort has been spent to become independent and to work with Eurasia on a new basis, to say, “No, now let’s start doing something again with the Americans” is just laughable. That will not happen.

“The UK is spinning a web of influence designed to survive any Ukraine peace deal..”
While Trump is making peace?
• How Britain Built A War Network Around Russia (Yanovsky)

Last week, UK Prime Minister Andy Burnham announced in Kiev that defense manufacturer MBDA had been authorized to disclose information concerning the British components of the SCALP missile, the French version of the long-range Storm Shadow, to Ukraine.Officially, the decision concerns documentation required to organize local assembly, but in practice, it could facilitate the transfer of blueprints, components, assembly kits or finished missiles.Read more …
Moscow regards this technology transfer as the UK crossing a red line, as London hasn’t even attempted to shift responsibility onto intermediaries and the decision was publicly authorized by the prime minister. Britain has therefore assumed direct responsibility for the resulting escalation and deepened its involvement in military operations against Russia.SCALP was developed through a joint British-French program and its assembly requires classified information about British components and French sub-assemblies, as well as access to a secure facility. Ukraine doesn’t possess a complete production cycle, but even a partial transfer of classified data would integrate Ukrainian assembly into the British-French manufacturing chain and bind all three parties together for years.
Before this decision, Britain had been far more careful about covering its tracks. For example, the Flamingo missile, marketed as a product of the Ukrainian company Fire Point, is identical to a design unveiled in 2025 by the British-Emirati Milanion Group. That arrangement allowed London to keep its distance, with formal responsibility for the missile’s development and deployment resting with Kiev.
Britain is also attempting to free future missile projects from the American vetting process, so under Project Brakestop, the Ministry of Defense has commissioned MBDA UK, MGI Engineering and Rotron Aerospace to produce three prototypes of long-range missiles for Ukraine. The purpose is to reduce dependence on US authorization and, consequently, on the position of the administration in Washington. London wants to determine for itself when and under what conditions such weapons are transferred.
British drones are already being used by Ukraine to strike targets deep inside Russia. They include the Nyan jet-powered drone, manufactured by Callen-Lenz, a subsidiary of BAE Systems. For its developers, the battlefield offers something particularly valuable: operational data with which to refine the weapon. Russia has also repeatedly pointed to the direct involvement of British specialists in the deployment of Storm Shadow missiles.
On the same day as the SCALP announcement, London secured access to Avengers AI Labs, an extensive body of data gathered by Ukrainian frontline sensors, so now British companies will be able to use this information to train target-recognition and autonomous-control systems, greatly shortening the journey from development to battlefield deployment.Five British governments have come and gone during the active phase of the Ukraine conflict, but the country’s anti-Russian course has remained remarkably consistent.
Boris Johnson began a program to develop the Ukrainian navy, Rishi Sunak signed a ten-year security agreement, Keir Starmer followed with the Centenary Partnership Agreement and Burnham has now authorized access to classified missile technology. Each government has built upon the commitments made by its predecessor.
The same continuity is visible in Britain’s strategic doctrine, where Sunak’s Conservative government described Russia in its 2023 Integrated Review Refresh as the “most acute threat” to British security and Starmer’s Labour government retained that position. The 2025 National Security Strategy called Russia “the most obvious and pressing example” of confrontation, while the Strategic Defence Review described it as an “immediate and pressing threat.” That review established the principle of “NATO first, but not only NATO” and committed Britain to preparing for war.
These doctrines are supported by long-term financial obligations, given London has promised Ukraine £3 billion, approximately $4 billion, annually until at least the 2030-31 financial year. The century-long partnership agreement provides for joint production, technology transfers and cooperation in the Baltic, Black and Azov seas where Britain’s presence is intended to endure for decades, regardless of when the current military campaign ends.
The declaration signed by Britain, France and Ukraine on January 6, 2026, already outlines arrangements for the postwar period. These include multinational forces, military logistics hubs, secure facilities and a special legal regime for foreign personnel. In London’s calculations, a ceasefire wouldn’t end its involvement, but it would consolidate a new phase of Britain’s military and industrial presence.

Update(1400ET): In a political earthquake, the AfD has taken a massive lead, per exit polls, at the Saxony-Anhalt election in what the party’s state leader hailed as sending a resounding “signal to Berlin.” This moment marks the first time what has been dubbed a German “far-right party” taking power at a state level since World War II. This is absolutely historic. “The exit polls, published by German public television stations, suggested that the party, known by its German initials AfD, would win between 39 and 41 seats in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt,” NY Times reports. “That would leave it just short of an absolute majority of 42, but far ahead of its nearest rival.”Read more …
But it remains unclear whether it will be able to form a government. Below is the latest via Deutsche Welle: Alternative for Germany (AfD) co-leader Tino Chrupalla says his party secured a mandate to govern with its strong election result in Saxony-Anhalt. “We have halved the CDU, so from that point of view it’s a great evening,” Chrupalla told journalists in Magdeburg, referring to an earlier remark by Christian Democratic Union (CDU) leader and chancellor Friedrich Merz that AfD’s result could be cut in half.Chrupalla called the outcome “sensational.” “Ulrich Siegmund will be the new premier of Saxony-Anhalt,” he said. “From here, we will change Germany.” If the party falls short of an absolute majority, Chrupalla said it would be open to talks and even suggested an AfD minority government could be tolerated by other parties. AfD has signaled it is open to a coalition partner that would be open to changing its migration and energy policy – though this option doesn’t seem to be on the political map realistically at this early point. “Paris needs guarantees that Kiev will repay the money it’s been getting during its conflict with Moscow, Jordan Bardella has said”
• France Can’t Finance Ukraine Forever – Le Pen Party’s Head (RT)

France lacks money for itself and simply cannot keep funding Ukraine indefinitely, Jordan Bardella, the president of Marine Le Pen’s right-wing National Rally (NR) party, has said. The main French opposition party faced harsh criticism from its rivals earlier this week after its vice president, Louis Aliot, said that NR “would turn off the tap” for Kiev if it comes to power after the 2027 presidential vote. Le Pen is seen as having strong chances to succeed in the election next year, no matter who her rival will be in the second round.Read more …
Bardella weighed in on the issue during his speech at the Ambrosetti Forum in Italy on Saturday, saying that Ukraine needs support from France and other Western nations during the conflict with Russia, but “our objective should not be to finance the war ad vitam æternam,” which means ‘forever’ in Latin. France has a national debt of €3.5 trillion ($4.6 billion) and cannot be “giving money that we no longer have” to Vladimir Zelensky’s government, he argued.“The extremely serious and worrying state of French public finances means we can’t give money without any guarantees or assurances that this money will be repaid one day,” the National Rally president said. Paris has been one of the strongest backers of Kiev in the EU after the escalation of the Ukraine conflict in February 2022, providing it with billions in military aid and supplying various sophisticated weapons, including CAESAR self-propelled howitzers and Mirage fighter jets.
According to Bardella, the Americans were “much smarter” than the Europeans when it came to assistance for Kiev “because the money they gave to Ukraine is secured against rare earth mining.” He was referring to the deal agreed upon between Washington and Kiev last year, which grants the US preferential access to Ukrainian mineral resources. During US President Donald Trump’s second term, Washington also significantly reduced aid to Ukraine, making European NATO members pay for American-made arms supplied to the country.
Earlier this week, Trump warned that he intends to present Europe with a belated bill for billions of dollars that Washington spent arming Ukraine under his predecessor, Joe Biden. He previously estimated that Biden gave Zelensky more than $300 billion worth of weapons for “free.” Le Pen said on Thursday that the National Rally is skeptical about further assistance to Ukraine because it believes that the conflict with Russia needs a diplomatic solution.
A poll by Harris Interactive in late August suggested that Le Pen has the support of 34% of the French public, which should guarantee her a place in the second round of the presidential election, where she would likely win comfortably against either her left-wing rival Jean-Luc Mélenchon or the centrist candidate, former Prime Minister Edouard Philippe. Russian officials said repeatedly that foreign weapons being sent to Kiev will not prevent Moscow from achieving its military goals, but will merely prolong the fighting, while increasing the risk of a direct confrontation between Russia and NATO.

Andrew Garbarino (R-N.Y.), who is pushing legislation to require 9/11 education in all 50 states, told the New York Post, “We made a promise to ‘Never Forget’, but today, only a handful of states require 9/11 to be taught in their schools.” But it gets worse. So much worse.
According to the North America Values Institute, an education watchdog group, leftist activists, some backed by George Soros, have produced 9/11 lesson plans now used in schools nationwide, including in New York City. One, “Teaching Beyond September 11th,” spends exactly one paragraph on the actual attacks and never once calls the hijackers terrorists, instead building entire units around “Right-Wing Extremism” and “Islamophobia and the Oval Office.” It describes Osama bin Laden only as a man the United States “accused” of masterminding the attacks, leaving out his own confessions and his declared jihad against a country he called the “worst civilization witnessed by the history of mankind.”
The curriculum was developed by the University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education beginning in 2019 and is now recommended by education departments in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Wisconsin, and Oregon. Zineb Riboua, a research fellow at the Hudson Institute, said this kind of material teaches kids “that America is responsible for the atrocities around the world to develop a moral framework that can be activated very quickly to get policies that reduce America’s power and sovereignty.” She said the tactic mirrors what the Muslim Brotherhood and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps use to target young people. “Ayatollah Khamenei said the best audience to target is students,” she added.
It still gets worse.Adam Feinberg, a teacher at Brooklyn’s City Polytechnic High School, assigns ninth through 12th graders Osama bin Laden’s “Letter to America” alongside a worksheet asking them, without a hint of irony, “Why do you think Osama bin Laden hates Jews so much?” He uploaded it to the American Federation of Teachers’ own lesson-sharing portal back in 2020. He never denied writing it.
None of these curricula bother to mention that nearly 10,000 first responders and civilians have since died from illnesses tied to Ground Zero toxins, or what any of this does to the families left behind. Gail Silke’s brother, NYPD officer Stephen Driscoll, 38, died in the South Tower. She didn’t hold back: “They’re not affected by it, they’re not in our shoes, and they don’t want to be in our shoes. Those people can kiss my a*s.” A Manhattan mother whose father-in-law died on 9/11 said, “They were disgusted with the [expletive] they were taught, it’s not fair, they lost their grandfather.”
New York state Assemblyman Matt Slater (R-N.Y.) said, “Nearly 3,000 innocent people were murdered by al Qaeda on September 11th. They were the victims. The terrorists were the perpetrators. Any curriculum that blurs that fundamental truth, or makes the victims secondary to a political narrative, isn’t teaching history, it’s rewriting it.”
When Soros-linked groups are writing lesson plans that soft-pedal the hijackers and focus on “Islamophobia” instead, we have a problem. The left is so devoted to its woke ideology that it is trying to rewrite the history of 9/11.

Takes some getting used to. But you get to keep your country.
• Asylum Denials Hit 94% in June (Catherine Salgado)

A combination of judicial firings and federal reforms has led to the denial of most asylum claims, an area where illegal aliens are known to exploit our system egregiously. In June 2026, over nine out of 10 asylum claimants did not receive what they requested. That’s good news for America.Read more …
I have emphasized many times here at PJ Media that huge numbers of illegal alien criminals, particularly under Joe Biden’s administration, simply claimed asylum and stated they were too afraid to go back home, which in prior years was practically enough to ensure they would receive asylum in the U.S. But in most cases, these people do not actually meet the legal standards for asylum. In some cases, indeed, they are afraid to go home, but only because they are gang members or convicted criminals fleeing justice. On August 31, TRAC Immigration reported the following: “The number of individuals Immigration Judges grant asylum to each month has been falling. In June 2026, only 771 individuals were granted asylum—less than a quarter of the number of individuals awarded asylum just three years ago. At the same time, the number of asylum decisions has grown resulting in soaring asylum denial rates. In June 2026, 94 percent of all asylum cases were denied.
It appears that President Donald Trump’s administration has replaced many immigration judges with individuals less likely to take illegal alien criminals at their word. TRAC seems extremely upset about the change, but it is great news for Americans, as we can be sure that illegal aliens will have much less of a chance of abusing this loophole in order to obtain U.S. residency.
The Center for Immigration Studies’ (CIS) Andrew R. Arthur explained that the percentage of granted asylum claims is actually even lower than TRAC indicated, because it did not take into account claims that were withdrawn, administratively closed, or not adjudicated. He elucidated in some technical detail what all of those categories meant, but essentially, not every claim ends up going all the way through the process to denial or approval for various reasons.
Of the 254,680 asylum decisions IJs issued in the first nine months of FY 2026, 7,231 (2.8 percent) were grants, 89,740 (35.2 percent) were denials, 44,062 (17.3 percent) were not adjudicated, 18,251 (7.2 percent) were withdrawn, and 3,315 (1.3 percent) were administratively closed — but 92,081 (36.2 percent), the largest single category of IJ asylum decisions, were ones in which the claim was “abandoned”.
So actually, based on these figures, fewer than 3% of asylum applicants this fiscal year received the asylum they requested. That’s how few of the applicants were able to prove in court that they truly needed asylum. Many illegal aliens also abuse the asylum process to try to obtain work authorization, after which they never show up in court again, Arthur warned.
In short, if there is a record high of asylum denials, it is because the Biden administration encouraged excessive and widespread abuses, and the Trump administration now has to restore the integrity of the asylum process.

“Ottawa appears to have shown up to a knife fight with a strongly worded press release.”
• The U.S. Has 13 Times the Economy — Carney Has 13 Times the Pout (Florack)

At first glance, it looks almost silly. Here we have two countries sharing the world’s longest undefended border, deeply intertwined economies, decades of trade agreements, and an enormous volume of commerce crossing back and forth every single day. Surely, one might think, reasonable adults could sit down and work this out over a Tim Hortons double-double. But, see, that’s the problem with looking at this purely as a spat over tariffs. It isn’t about tariffs at all. It’s about leverage — and Ottawa appears to have shown up to a knife fight with a strongly worded press release.
Here’s the inconvenient math sitting underneath the whole argument. According to current GDP data, the U.S. economy runs about $30.8 trillion, against Canada’s roughly $2.3 trillion. That’s not a rival negotiating across the table — that’s a difference of about $28.5 trillion, which means Canada isn’t negotiating with a comparably sized economy. It’s negotiating with one more than 13 times its size, and acting surprised when the bigger guy gets to set the terms. Then there’s energy, where the gap gets even more embarrassing for Ottawa. The United States produced a record 13.6 million barrels of crude oil per day in 2025, the most any country has ever pumped, and also hit a record 39 trillion cubic feet of natural gas — America has been the world’s largest natural gas producer since 2011 and isn’t giving that title back. Canada’s oil sands are a genuinely valuable resource. The trouble, from Ottawa’s side of the table, is that Washington already has plenty of its own.
And Canada still can’t quit the American market even if it wanted to: in 2025, the U.S. imported 3.9 million barrels a day of Canadian crude, making America overwhelmingly Canada’s dominant customer. Canadian oil matters to the United States. The United States is Canada’s oil industry, full stop. That’s not a negotiation between equals — that’s a landlord reminding a tenant who holds the lease. Carney might try to shut that oil off, but it’s a surefire way to make Alberta the 51st state, which he can ill afford.
Then there’s the part of this fight Washington has been increasingly willing to say out loud: Canada’s approach to government spending, immigration, and social policy. The Trump administration has argued that Canada’s expansive government and rapid population growth eventually become someone else’s problem — namely, the strained housing market, the overloaded infrastructure, and the public services buckling under the weight.

Before anyone waves that off as typical American bluster, it’s worth pointing out that Ottawa has been saying the same thing about itself. Canada’s own government has acknowledged the pressure population growth put on housing and social services, which is precisely why it’s now slashing its own targets — permanent residency holds flat at 380,000 a year through 2028, while temporary-resident arrivals get cut from 2025’s 673,650 down to 385,000 next year and 370,000 the two years after, with the explicit goal of getting the temporary population under 5% of the country by the end of 2027. Trump didn’t write that policy memo. Carney’s own government did.Read more …
And the numbers behind it are genuinely striking. According to Statistics Canada’s 2021 Census, 26.4% of the population was first-generation — born outside Canada — and another 17.6% was second-generation, meaning Canadian-born with at least one foreign-born parent. Add those together and you land at roughly 44% of the country having an immediate immigrant connection. That’s not a talking point. That’s the census.None of which means immigration itself is the villain here — Canada was built by it, and immigrants contribute to the economy. The actual question is whether the rate and mix of that growth can be reconciled with housing, infrastructure, employment, and a social safety net that has to be paid for by someone. Even Ottawa seems to have concluded the honest answer, for now, is “not at the pace we were running it.” Gee, guys, welcome to reality. You might start by noticing what others have noted from afar: the huge percentage of these immigrants are dependent on large social support outlays.
Even the OECD’s own 2025 economic survey of Canada — an organization not exactly known for MAGA sympathies — flags weak business investment and a widening productivity gap between Canada’s best firms and everyone else as structural problems, not passing headwinds. And that’s where this whole trade fight starts making a lot more sense.
The United States walks in with the world’s largest economy, record domestic energy production, a massive consumer market, and an industrial base most countries would trade their currency reserves for. Canada walks in with real resources, a well-educated population, a serious industrial economy, and one very good card: energy and commodities the U.S. genuinely wants. That’s a relationship worth keeping. It just isn’t a relationship between equals, and pretending otherwise, as Carney seems bent on doing, doesn’t change the scoreboard.
Maybe that’s the part some people in Ottawa are struggling to swallow. It isn’t that Washington discovered some secret new lever to pull. It’s that Washington has always had this much leverage, simply by virtue of being what it is. When one side shows up with a $30.8 trillion economy, record energy output, and a consumer market Canadian exporters can’t afford to lose, and the other side shows up with a $2.3 trillion economy that depends heavily on access to that exact market, the interesting question isn’t why Washington thinks it can ask for concessions. It’s why anyone in Ottawa, Carney in particular, assumed it couldn’t.
Sometimes the uncomfortable part of a negotiation isn’t finding out the other guy is bluffing. It’s finding out he isn’t — and that he’s been holding the better hand the entire time. That’s the position Carney finds himself in just now. The reality is Carney doesn’t have nearly the cards he’d like Canadian voters to believe he does. I’ve already pointed out the leftist proclivities Carney harbors.
Before becoming PM, Carney sat on the board of Canada 2020, a think tank Maclean’s has called the outfit that effectively runs Liberal Party policy behind closed doors, with documented ties to Obama-world Democrats and access to Soros Open Society funding streams. More recently, Carney delivered the closing keynote at a closed-door Global Progress Action Summit in Toronto, sharing a stage with Barack Obama, Alex Soros — George’s son, now chairman of OSF — John Podesta, Pete Buttigieg, and Sen. Elissa Slotkin.
Every critter listed in that paragraph considers Trump an enemy. No serious analysis of Carney’s actions would be complete without acknowledging this. Carney has run on standing up to America and particularly standing up to President Trump. The trouble for Carney is that he simply hasn’t got the leverage to do that. It’s time for either Carney to grow up and face reality, or for Canadian voters to remove him. Preferably the latter.

Painful.
• U.S. Job Growth of 162,000 vs Canada Job Losses -42,000 (CTH)
In this episode from Promethean Action’s Barbara Boyd she takes a look at the U.S. economy and the Main Street policies of President Trump versus the banking/Wall Street Canadian economy. In the August jobs report the U.S. economy added 162,000 jobs, while the Canadian August jobs report reflected 42,000 job losses.
Boyd – “A blockbuster U.S. jobs report showing 162,000 jobs created is contrasted with Canada’s 40,000 job loss under Mark Carney, as Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent tells Steve Bannon that Wall Street and major outlets like the Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal stoke economic panic and spread “fake news,” citing a misframed story about Norway’s sovereign wealth fund shifting from Treasuries into higher-yield Fannie and Freddie securities. This episode frames today’s challenge as a “Red Queen economy,” arguing America must grow productivity fast enough to outrun debt, China’s advances, and infrastructure and skills obsolescence, while blaming Biden-era inflation and spending. It spotlights Trump administration workforce initiatives, including expanded training and Pell Grant use and the new Foundry School—an advanced manufacturing program with a Stanford curriculum and international PAX Silica partners. Finally, it covers Trump executive orders aiding ranchers’ beef processing and DOJ antitrust scrutiny of major meatpackers and retailers.”

I’ve been away from TAE for the summer. More time in the sun. More time getting grounded. More time away from the madness of our politics. I feel much better now.
I’ve been a reader since the post-2008 era. Back then the site was irreplaceable: well-sourced aggregation, rigorous debate, and a community that engaged with ideas rather than performed allegiance to them. The quality of discourse back then attracted serious discussion, and the comment sections often taught me as much as the linked articles. That was true during Covid too.
But something shifted after that, and I am not the only one to notice it.
Over the past couple of years, the vibe has changed dramatically. Where there used to be substantive disagreement and discussion — the kind that sharpens thinking — there’s now a lot of what feels like agenda-driven repetition rather than exploration. The signal-to-noise ratio has inverted. Original essays are gone. Several contributors whose voices I most respected have gone silent or disappeared entirely. The comments section, once the site’s real value-add, has become a place to repost video links, usually with no comment, sometimes even before the video has gone active on Youtube.
What are we to make of the August 16 post titled “The State of TAE August 2026”? Ilargi says that the site cannot generate any Google ad revenue and is therefore supported by users. But what does that mean? Who is supporting the site? Are Dr D, John Day and Michael Reid keeping the lights on? If I did not know better, judging solely from the recurring thematic content over the last year, I might have guessed that support was coming from a source like Elon Musk, AIPAC and/or Zionist MAGA Superpac.
Declining Hydrocarbon Political Economy https://drjohnsblog.substack.com/p/declining-hydrocarbion-political
Oil is the transportation fuel cornucopia, making diesel from heavy crude, and sulfur for fertilizers and sulfuric acid for metallurgy. Natural gas makes electrical generation turbines spin op fast during demand peaks, and provides feedstock for fertilizers, plastics and synthetic oils and solvents. Coal provides baseline power generation, iron and steel production, and cement & concrete production, all things that a construction economy requires.
A partial cause of the Great Depression was the peak of hard-coal lae in WW-1. England could no longer supply Italy, which became allied with its new supplier, Germany, while the US took the lead in the transition to oil as a dominant fuel for traines, planes, trucks, tractors, ships and automobiles.
Oil consumption is 90% correlated with real-economy. There is no tighter economic relationship. “Conventional oil” production peaked in 2005, as predicted, and the 2008 Global Financial Crisis followed that limitation on supply and drastic increase in price of refined products. The partial-save of fracked lighter hydrocarbons and “condensates” did not materially increase the availability of diesel and jet fuel, “middle distillates” at the core of global economic supply chains. Their prices did not come down like the price of gasoline, which is composed of lighter distilled products.
Global finance, adopted to a growth economy, has made debt into the money which is spent in the economy, always borrowing from the expansive future, which got less expansive in the 1970s when oil embargoes were weaponized. Real economy has never regained the overall rates of growth that it had before 1973, but the money loaned at interest increased to “compensate”, rather than decreasing to match physical reality. Wealth-promises of all sorts were purchased in the present for that expansive future, with a sharp change under Fed Chair Paul Volcker around 1980, when he raised interest rates to 20% to break all resistance to the new monetary control regime. The manufacturing and construction economies were crushed, but the financial economy blossomed out of all proportion, creating riches for the global investment classes, payable in $US, in the future…
Real return on $US investments since then has hollowed out the US manufacturing economy, and the same system extracts value, by design, from any economy where it is used. Economies which shun or bypass the $US system are punished by wars and embargoes. $US finance is a self-licking ice cream cone.
With the November 2025 peak in production of “crude + condensates”, exceeding the prior peak around October or November 2018, and no future peak foreseeable by oil-analysts, February 2016 saw a final peak in exports of crude oil and distillates, before the US war on Iran closed the Strait of Hormuz.
This war creates a valve that the US and Iran can both close, but only agreement between them can open. The financial interests of the US and Iran occupy opposing economic camps. Each camp will seek to starve the adversary of fuel and essential feedstocks of economic production in this war of resource-denial.
The mismatch between physical economic production and “unrealized profits” of bloated financial holdings is long-overdue for the reckoning that was put off in 2008, the restructuring of financial economy to accurately reflect the much smaller, now shrinking, life-support economy of goods and services.
What is to be done about the promises of future wealth, which are the “cash” we spend on things and services we need to survive? Will there be no money? That would quickly kill us all.
Ellen Brown presents the case for $ Trillion Platinum Coins to retire US federal debts as they come due, coupled with the spending of “greenbacks” for projects that support the general economy, like roads, bridges, railroads and electric grids. That form of spending is not inflationary, because there is not a growth in the money supply facing a stagnation or decline in goods and services, but the creation of money specifically to make what the public needs and uses, which should remain public property. This is a route of return to the American System of the post Civil War growth years, also employed by Germany at that time, China recently, and Germany and Japan after WW-2.
If Platinum coins were used to retire Federal Debt as it came due, no new Federal borrowing was allowed, and Greenbacks could only be spent on national shared infrastructure, then the rest of federal and state spending would need to come from taxation. This would necessitate wide political agreement to actually give up personal wealth to pay for national, state and local shared-necessities. We might each consider our relative position and prospects in such a construct.
I might use “decline”, rather than “end”. The Honest Sorcerer, Is This What The End of The Oil Age Looks Like?
A quarter-century long period of shared prosperity, underpinned by a stable supply of oil, is coming to an ignominious end. More than two-thirds of the oil shipped worldwide now comes from countries which are either at war, under sanctions, or behind a blockade; resulting in a severely restricted petroleum supply, always at risk of getting even weaker. A new era of scarcity is upon us…
..Fracking and large scale oil sand extraction suddenly become possible due to stubbornly high oil prices and zero interest rate policies in the aftermath of the great financial crisis. So while the peak oil movement in the early 2000’s was proven right, when conventional onshore and shallow water crude oil peaked in 2005, shale oil and tar sands gave the world two more decades of growth in absolute terms, but not in exported volumes. Since much of this new found oil wealth was consumed where it was located (North America), the world’s oil supply available for exports remained stagnant at 42 +/-2 million barrels a day...
..Our global food, mining, transportation and construction systems remained largely dependent on diesel, a fuel which is going through its toughest supply squeeze in living memory thanks to the war on Iran. And while post 2020 Chinese efforts aimed at electrifying not only cars, but heavy duty vehicles, farm equipment, mining, and even coastal shipping, they only managed to avoid an additional increase in oil demand, not an absolute reduction at the same level of economic output...
..With 2026 the world economy has definitely reached an end to meaningful economic growth…
..All in all that still leaves us with 11-14 million barrels a day of exports from the war torn Middle East—compared to the 23 million which used to leave the region before the conflict began. That means that the world is still 9-12 million barrels short of oil—even without taking the effect of Yemeni Houthi attacks into consideration...
..A global war on energy is the prime reason why 70% of all oil which used to be traded worldwide in 2025 now comes from countries either in conflict, under sanctions, behind a blockade or being otherwise severely restricted in trade…
..After a prolonged stagnation between 2003-2025, 2026 saw a significant drop in the amount of oil traded worldwide. In fact, we are now back into the 1990’s when world petroleum consumption was 25% lower than today and global GDP was less than a third of its present value…
..The world economy, at the same time, is running into the biggest diesel fuel squeeze it has ever seen, not to mention other shortages stemming from the still reduced flow of sulfur, helium and fertilizer exports… Or the still completely blocked LNG exports from the region, causing the global supply of liquefied natural gas to remain 19% lower than February this year…
..What makes this diesel crisis especially acute, is that we have just entered the highest-demand period of the year for this crucial fuel. See, the autumn peak planting season in Brazil and Australia (the latter being the worlds largest importer of the fuel) coincides with peak harvest season in the global North, and the end of the summer holidays and factory shut-downs. As truck traffic into and out of the many factories of America and Europe return to their normal levels, and as shops start to stock up for Christmas—not to mention households stocking up on heating oil—demand for diesel can be expected to rise further still...
..Leaked memos from the Pentagon suggest that they are planning for a long war on Iran with periodic strikes on Iranian installations, leaving the region in a permanent state of war—even as American forces are pushed further and further from Iran by missile strikes and as US weapon-stockpiles dwindle… ..Meanwhile US oil majors used the war to buy stakes in Iraqi oil fields, reducing Chinese influence in the region…
..US energy deals with Venezuela are also aimed at pushing China and Russia out of the South American country, while also ensuring cheap imports of heavy oil for US refineries, not at resolving the situation…
..The US shale “revolution” is unlikely to save us either: the game is already over. Long term growth rates are already in a decline, with previous gains likely turning into reverse within 1-2 years. The reason is simple enough: despite productivity improvements in oil extraction, the industry is slowly running out of prime acreage where oil flows from new wells are the highest. What remains of the Permian is a giant gas field: as wells yield more and more gas and less and less oil…
..As a sign of things to come, European oil majors rather invest billions into fusion—even if it’s nowhere near commercial stage—than in exploration. Norway, the richest nation in Europe with the best managed oil fields in the world, also faces a long decline in oil production, losing 35-95% of its capacity by 2050…
..The world economy won’t collapse, though. Rather, it will go through the first major round of simplification: shedding some of the social complexity it piled up over the past few decades. This won’t be an evenly distributed process though: China will most likely continue to electrify as much of its economy as it can, together with many developing nations who will continue to add as much solar behind the meter as they can to combat high energy prices. As diesel shortages percolate through supply chains, however, many companies will face bankruptcy or see their order books thin out as the purchasing power of average citizens continue to fall. Deindustrialization will take another round in the West, unemployment will rise and a new equilibrium will set in around lower living standards and a (much) smaller industrial output. https://thehonestsorcerer.substack.com/p/is-this-what-the-end-of-the-oil-age
Alex Krainer describes the differences between the British Imperial “free-trade” system which impoverishes workers to transfer profit to distant owners, and the “American System” which flourished under Lincoln, encouraging the full spectrum improvement of life within a country by reinvesting locally in all aspects of production and enjoying their benefits. Two systems are before the world, part 2 of 3
We’re experiencing the conflict between two systems of governance. Understanding what that means could be the most important knowledge we need today. https://alexkrainer.substack.com/p/two-systems-are-before-the-world-cb8
Ellen Brown, The Sovereign Reset: Escaping the Interest Trap with Greenbacks
In August 2026, the U.S. debt reached a gravity-defying $40 trillion, with an estimated fiscal year 2026 deficit of $2.1 trillion. Interest on the debt hit a record $1.4 trillion over the last 12 months and now consumes more than any federal program except Social Security and Medicare, eclipsing defense spending for the first time in U.S. history. Paid with borrowed money, interest compounds exponentially, making it the fastest-growing part of the budget, far outpacing economic growth. By 2036, the Congressional Budget Office projects interest costs will double to $2.1 trillion, with debt held by the public reaching 120 percent of GDP. The CBO director has declared the trajectory to be “not sustainable.” Increasingly, prominent analysts are saying the United States will have to “print” its way out. But using whose printing press, printing what?…
..The Treasury at the direction of Congress actually does have keystroke ability. It is a sovereign power that our forebears used to finance the American Revolution, the Civil War, and some of the most explosive periods of economic growth in U.S. history. From the “colonial scrip” that Benjamin Franklin credited with the prosperity of the colonies, to the Continentals that funded the Revolution, the power to create money was viewed as a public utility. The U.S. Constitution formalized that power in Article I, Section 8, granting Congress the power “to coin Money [and] regulate the Value thereof.”
After Lincoln’s Treasury printed enough U.S. Notes or “Greenbacks” to win the Civil War, the Supreme Court twice affirmed its authority to do so. But that power was captured and handed to a banking cartel that met in secret on Jekyll Island in 1910, where they designed a system in which every new dollar must be borrowed into existence from bankers who simply write deposits into their borrowers’ accounts. And thus was the government’s sovereign power to create its own currency captured by private profiteers.
The greatest proof of concept for debt-free sovereign currency remains Abraham Lincoln’s Greenbacks. Facing a fractured nation and usurious interest rates from international bankers, Lincoln bypassed the private credit market. Through the Legal Tender Acts of the 1860s, the Treasury issued $450 million in United States Notes (Greenbacks), which funded the North’s victory in the Civil War and extensive national infrastructure development.
In 1871, the Supreme Court upheld the Legal Tender Acts in Knox v. Lee, ruling that the government’s power to issue currency that was not redeemable in specie (coins) was an inherent attribute of sovereignty...
..William Jennings Bryan, the “Cowardly Lion” of the Greenback movement, had the roar of a great orator but ultimately lacked the courage to stick to the Greenback solution, instead pivoting to bimetallism (silver). [For more on that see E. Brown, Web of Debt.]
In 1912, Bryan was appointed Secretary of State by Pres. Woodrow Wilson. Bryan vigorously opposed the Aldrich Act, which would have handed the “money power” to the bankers; but the bankers won, and the Federal Reserve Act passed. Since that time, the United States has financed itself not with sovereign money but with interest-bearing debt, rolling it over year after year until the interest bill itself has become the fastest-growing federal expense...
..Congress is unlikely to resort to the sovereign money alternative until it has no other option but to default, but that alternative is approved by both the Constitution and by statute, and it need not raise consumer prices – in fact it can lower them — if the new money is used to create new goods and services, keeping supply and demand in balance…
..A statutory mechanism proposed to deal with earlier debt ceiling crises involves 31 U.S.C. § 5112(k), under which the Treasury Secretary is granted the discretion to mint platinum coins in any denomination. The proposal was to mint trillion dollar coins, which would represent a profit to the Mint (seigniorage) rather than loans, so their value does not count toward the statutory debt limit defined in 31 U.S.C. § 3101…
..Despite those mandates, when the trillion dollar coin was raised as a solution to an earlier debt ceiling deadline in 2013, then-Fed Chair Ben Bernanke called it “unworkable”; and in 2021, facing another debt ceiling, Janet Yellen called it a “gimmick.”
Perhaps, but the coin is no more a gimmick than the Fed’s own “Quantitative Easing,” which extends the use of a section of the Federal Reserve Act far beyond its intended purpose... If the Fed can create trillions in currency to save the banks, why can’t the Treasury do it to save the taxpayers? If trillion dollar coins seem too much like a gimmick, Congress can just lift the 1878 cap on Greenback issues and issue U.S. Notes directly...
..Combining the Legal Tender power (confirmed in Juilliard), the Minting discretion (31 U.S.C. §5112), and the Fiscal Agency mandate (12 U.S.C. §391), the tools are already in place for Congress to issue currency directly. So what is holding it back?
The standard objection is that Treasury-issued money is more inflationary than borrowing, because borrowed money will eventually be paid back, extinguishing the newly created deposits. But the federal debt has not been paid off since Andrew Jackson did it nearly two centuries ago...
..Contrary to conventional theory, borrowing money into existence has been shown to be more inflationary than printing it directly. Both add new dollars to the money supply, since the debt-created dollars spent by the government are never paid back. But the interest burden on those dollars drives up taxes, and the Fed attempts to dampen inflation by raising interest rates, which raises the interest that producers must pay on their own debts. Producers then raise their prices to cover these additional costs, inflating consumer prices...
..After the 1970s oil shock, Milton Friedman’s dictum that “inflation is always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon” became official dogma. But the historical record showed the opposite: price inflation rose in the 1970s, while new money creation fell. Prices were driven up by a shortage of supply rather than an excess of monetary demand.
One particularly compelling experiment in publicly-issued money discussed by Ryan-Collins and van Lerven involved New Zealand. Today, nearly all U.S. states are dealing with housing crises. After the Reserve Bank of New Zealand was nationalized in the 1930s, the government solved its housing crisis by using central bank-issued funds to finance housing, infrastructure, public works and support for farmers. Over a four-year period, The Bank created NZ£30 million for the government, real GDP rose 30 percent, and price inflation remained stable.
Why? Because the new money was not bidding for a fixed stock of goods. It was putting unemployed people and idle resources to work to increase the supply of housing, food and other goods.
That is actually the key to avoiding the inflation trap (“too much money chasing too few goods”). If the money is spent on infrastructure and investments that produce new goods and services, supply and demand will rise together, keeping prices in balance...
..Before GDP can grow, funds must be available for labor and supplies; and the Treasury simply does not have them. Treasury-issued dollars could fill the breach and be sustainable, if the money were directed into infrastructure and development, increasing supply along with demand.
Contrary to the Friedman dictum, inflation is not “always and everywhere a monetary phenomenon.” The relevant question is not just how much money is circulating in the economy but where it is circulating and whether it is connecting productive capacity with human needs... If newly created dollars were invested in the economy’s industrial slack or the infrastructure gap, goods and services would be produced for the consumer market, raising supply to balance demand and keeping prices from rising...
..What if new Treasury money were used to gradually redeem some existing federal securities as they mature? This too would be unlikely to drive up consumer prices. Treasury securities are largely held by funds, banks, insurers, foreign institutions and wealthy investors, who are not likely to spend the money on consumer goods but will seek other investments paying interest. An institutional holder of a $1 million Treasury bond which receives $1 million in sovereign dollars has not suddenly gained $1 million in net wealth. One federal liability has just been exchanged for another: an interest-bearing security for non-interest-bearing money. What has changed is just that the government has been relieved of the obligation to keep paying interest...
..As Thomas Edison observed in a New York Times interview in 1921:
If our nation can issue a dollar bond, it can issue a dollar bill. The element that makes the bond good, makes the bill good, also. The difference between the bond and the bill is that the bond lets money brokers collect twice the amount of the bond and an additional 20%, whereas the currency pays nobody but those who contribute directly in some useful way...
..Congress has the constitutional power to issue sovereign money directly – interest-free and debt-free – and viable precedents are available for implementing that policy without driving up consumer prices. The question is whether Congress will reclaim this hereditary power. https://scheerpost.com/2026/09/02/the-sovereign-reset-escaping-the-interest-trap-with-greenbacks/

The Hormuz tanker war stopped being a metaphor: Iran struck six vessels in a single day – its largest maritime attack of the war – after CENTCOM destroyed three Iranian tankers, and fired anti-ship ballistic missiles at a US aircraft carrier for the first time.
Second delta: Norway’s sovereign fund formally proposed cutting its US government-bond sleeve from 34% to 22%, landing in the same week Treasuries printed their worst 10-year return on record. Everything else – Russian advances in Donetsk, the AI-capex numbers, the metals chop – is continuation, but the Witkoff/Kushner-Putin meeting produced a three-day truce covering exactly one region.
Iran struck six ships in one day, its largest-ever attack in the strait. The IRGC says it hit three tankers on “unauthorized” routes plus three US Navy/US-linked vessels elsewhere (HormuzReport, BRICSinfo, MenchOsint). Footage shows black smoke from at least one burning tanker; Iran claims all three are burning and disabled (HormuzLetter).
CENTCOM destroyed three Iranian crude carriers first – two near Jask, one at Kharg, crews evacuated by lifeboat (DeItaone, KobeissiLetter, zerohedge). Hegseth stated the policy in plain words: “if Iran shoots at U.S. ships, we will destroy (and sink) their oil tankers” (PeteHegseth).
Iran fired anti-ship ballistic missiles at the USS George Washington and a guided-missile destroyer. CENTCOM confirms the launches, says both ships evaded with no hits and no casualties; Tehran claims damage and forced withdrawal (MarioNawfal, TheIranianzg3z, MenchOsint). The two accounts do not reconcile.
Norway’s sovereign fund proposed cutting US government bonds from 34% to 22% of its bond portfolio – roughly $80bn. Norges Bank’s 1 September letter recommends dropping the government slice of the whole bond index from 70% to 50% and abandoning GDP weights (Barchart, MarioNawfal, Mark4XX).
Putin gave the US envoys three hours and a truce covering one region. Witkoff and Kushner met Putin for 3+ hours; the Kremlin called it constructive and the envoys headed for Kyiv (StockStormX, zerohedge). The strike pause covers Kyiv and Moscow for three days only (talkrealopinion, MyLordBebo), and Putin reportedly told them Russia won’t stop until its goals are met (intelFromBrian)...
..AI capex hits absurdity, and Nike leaves the S&P 100 – Five companies now outspend every oil and gas producer on earth, combined (KatusaResearch) – and are on track to spend more on capex than the other 495 S&P companies combined by 2028. No five companies have ever controlled half of corporate America’s spending (KatusaResearch).
Anthropic investors are reportedly floating a $2T IPO next month, while OpenAI was said to be holding off to 2027 over concerns about a $1T valuation three months ago (aleabitoreddit).
AI Adoption is real even if the valuations aren’t: 80.6% of US tech/media firms now pay for AI subscriptions, finance/insurance 73.1%, manufacturing a record 60.4%, retail up 20pp to 49% (KobeissiLetter).
Deflation on the other side: AI prices have fallen as much in three years as PC prices did in fifteen (Barchart). https://no1sdailydigest.substack.com/p/daily-digest-2026-09-06

Two things actually moved: the US Navy put four projectiles into an Iranian tanker six miles off Kharg Island – the fight has arrived at Iran’s own export terminal, not just the shipping lane – and an August payrolls print that came in at four sigma above consensus flipped the September FOMC from a pause debate into a hike coin-flip, with Trump responding by threatening to halt trade with every deficit partner if the Fed doesn’t cut. Everything else is continuation with a sharper edge: diesel at a record, Hormuz traffic effectively frozen, Shanghai silver still ~13% over London. https://no1sdailydigest.substack.com/p/daily-digest-2026-09-05
Gold & Geopolitics, Daily digest: 2026-09-04
Two things moved materially: US diesel set an all-time-high national average while the refining crack spread broke $100/bbl for the first time ever, and Iran struck seven US bases across five countries overnight as Washington reportedly weighs formally declaring the war over. Elsewhere the Fed conversation flipped again – Waller’s remarks turned September rate-hike odds into a coin flip – and OpenAI shipped “Astra” the same day NVIDIA agreed to buy Hugging Face for $12.93bn without filing the contract. Russia closed a pocket northeast of Kharkiv and consolidated Orikhiv...
..Iran’s regular Army (Artesh, not IRGC) fired Fath-360 SRBMs – unusual, they normally use loitering munitions (MenchOsint also documents an Iranian strike on the Prince Hassan AB runway in Jordan on Sept 1, repaired by Sept 3, visible only because Chinese imagery filled the Sept 2 gap).
IRGC claims two MQ-9A Reapers downed in one night, one over Khomein (BabakTaghvaee1). Satellite confirmation of a direct helipad hit at Camp Titin near the Gulf of Aqaba from bonzerbarry and tom_bike.
The logistics picture is the underreported part: ~20 ships and 20,000 personnel needing 420,000 meals and 8M gallons of fuel weekly, resupplied from 2,200 miles away at Diego Garcia after Iran destroyed the Navy’s Bahrain logistics base (clashreport, citing NYT).

Iran answered the US strikes by hitting Al Jaber in Kuwait and Al Minhad in the UAE overnight, and within hours the WSJ had Trump privately discussing declaring the war over – a Qatari government jet flew Doha-Tehran with no announced purpose.
The other genuine break is in Tokyo: the 10-year JGB closed above 3% for the first time since 1996 and the 30-year auction cleared at a record 4.079%, with a fresh yen intervention on top. Everything else – diesel five cents from an all-time high, the Dutch gold repatriation, the Russian frontline grind – is the same machine running one more day. https://no1sdailydigest.substack.com/p/daily-digest-2026-09-03
U.S. Military Attacks Private Iranian Assets – Expect Iran To Respond In Kind
The U.S. military is (again) disregarding the rules of war.
U.S. Central Command @CENTCOM – 13:38 UTC · Sep 5, 2026 – CENTCOM Destroys 3 IRGC Oil Tankers After Iran Targets 2 U.S. Navy Warships…..U.S. strikes against military targets in Iran would have been a legitimate response. – The three tankers the U.S. has hit instead are not military targets.
There is no such thing as an “IRGC oil tanker”. The Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps isn’t a shipping company ... All three ships are civil carriers. They were unarmed. None of them was attempting to break the U.S. blockade or in any way involved in military activities. None of them was in any way a justifiable military target. https://www.moonofalabama.org/2026/09/us-military-hits-private-iranian-assets-expect-iran-to-respond-in-kind.html

Aargh! Why Resurrecting Prize Law to Seize Iranian Vessels Signals the End of U.S. Naval Supremacy, Curro Jimenez
According to Bloomberg, the Department of Justice is looking to set up prize court proceedings in the Southern District of Texas, located in Houston, which would be a natural destination for seized oil tankers due to its midstream infrastructure. U.S. Attorney for the Southern District Aaron Reitz confirmed that his office is involved in the effort. The U.S. administration wants to appropriate cargo from Iranian vessels under this Prize Law dating back to the 1800s…
..If the Trump administration were to reinstate Prize Law, it would be an admission that not only is it at war with Iran, but that it is no longer interested in acting as the world’s police. The Trump administration has been making this point, including in its National Security Strategy; resurrecting this ancient legislation would be a factual admission of that shift.
The point I’m trying to make is not a legal one. I am not a legal expert, and I’m sure there are other administrative and legal cases for choosing to use civil forfeiture instead of Prize Law. What I’m trying to point out is the convergence of facts that seem to indicate a historical undercurrent.
If 1945 might be considered the height of American sea power, 2026 might be considered the turning point of its decline. Abandoning Prize Law once marked America’s ascent as a global power and its role as the world’s maritime guarantor. The Iran war, marked by the inability of the U.S. to control the Strait of Hormuz, signals a turning point in U.S. sea control, and the return of Prize Law a concrete symbol of it. https://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2026/09/why-resurrecting-prize-law-to-seize-iranian-vessels-signals-the-end-of-u-s-naval-supremacy.html
I have read that training to spoof a polygraph is quite effective. Hegseth’s Polygraphs Return To Pentagon In ‘Major Leak Hunt’ Over Iran War
The New York Times reports Saturday that Pentagon investigators have questioned roughly 50 personnel on the Joint Staff whether they had disclosed classified information to journalists...
..Dozens of other officials, including under US Central Command (CENTCOM), were also polygraph tested earlier this summer.
An avalanche of media reports in August, and from earlier in the summer, have said the US exhausted much of its stock of long-range Tomahawk missiles on the Iran war, along with Patriot and THAAD missile interceptors.
US officials have stated to CBS that no one failed the tests, but it has had a chilling effect, given that sources have also described the scope of the dragnet as “extraordinary”.
All of this seems not only geared toward preventing leaks to the press, but comes amid a climate of perceived ‘disloyalty’ and dissent against War Secretary Pete Hegseth. https://www.zerohedge.com/military/hegseths-polygraphs-return-pentagon-major-leak-hunt-over-iran-war

I’ll vote against genocide: Dave Smith: “Israel Is On The Ballot And Israel Is About To Deliver Us Socialism”
Last night’s debate on the Iran war brought together Alan Dershowitz and libertarian Dave Smith for a wide-ranging clash over Iran, Israel, and … you guessed it: Antisemitism!
Dershowitz defended the case for confronting Iran while calling Smith a racist, bigot, and an important part of the “2000 year history” of antisemitism. Smith made a few jabs back while arguing the Iran war is the worst decision in modern U.S. history. Dersh maintained that he is pro-regime change by “almost any means,” justifying this position by invoking Hitler...
..“Israel is about to deliver us socialism”
Dershowitz noted that Israel itself is increasingly becoming an electoral issue and said Americans will ultimately be able to make up their minds on whether to continue supporting the country financially/militarily: “We’re having an election coming up. Israel is very much on the ballot in many places,” Dershowitz said.
Smith strongly agreed that Israel and its enormous backlash over their conduct in Gaza are “on the ballot”:
“I’m so glad you said that, because Israel is about to deliver us socialism… Israel’s on the ballot and Israel is so hated right now that we’re gonna turn to socialism instead.”
There is a strong basis for Smith’s prediction for anyone paying attention. The most anti-Israel wing of Democratic politics overlaps considerably with its socialist wing. https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/dave-smith-israel-ballot-and-israel-about-deliver-us-socialism

Israel’s multiple wars see finance, defence ministries clash over spending
Spiraling costs of Israel’s conflicts deepen rift between finance and defense ministries ahead of budget decisions.
Few ministers are showing any appetite to curb Israel’s military endeavours, despite the warnings of “empty coffers”. In the occupied West Bank, the Israeli army has announced it is preparing a widescale deployment to stem the unrestrained settler violence that many in the government, including Smotrich, have been accused of encouraging.
At the same time, Israel is preparing for an escalation in the conflict with Iran. Billions of dollars are being spent to replenish munition supplies that were expended in both the last war with Iran and Israel’s neighbours.
“It’s like a rule of nature. Every year, the Israeli army asks for more money and every year the Ministry of Finance will impose a cut of around one to two percent across all other departments to pay for it,” Israeli political analyst Nimrod Flaschenberg told Al Jazeera. https://www.aljazeera.com/news/2026/9/1/israels-multiple-wars-see-finance-defence-ministries-clash-over-spending

The war in Ukraine that will not stop..
As the war in Ukraine grinds into its next phase, international observers continue to search for signs of a diplomatic off-ramp or a negotiated settlement. However, a close examination of the underlying political, intelligence, and strategic dynamics suggests that the conflict is highly unlikely to end in the near future. The war’s prolongation is not merely the result of battlefield stalemates, but the product of a complex web of survival imperatives, intelligence-agency dominance, and grim strategic utility. From this perspective, the conflict’s continuation serves the immediate interests of the key actors involved, creating a self-sustaining cycle that resists peaceful resolution...
..Zelensky must continue the war to avoid being discarded by Western powers or eliminated by nationalist factions within Ukraine. The Ukrainian political elite must support him to protect their own power and survival. Western intelligence agencies and military forces are using the conflict as a training ground and testing laboratory for future confrontations with Russia, while simultaneously exposing the limitations of their own industrial base. International mercenaries are gaining skills that will destabilize regions far beyond Eastern Europe. Meanwhile, Russia tolerates the current leadership because their actions are effectively dismantling the Ukrainian state from within.
In this grim equilibrium, the war is no longer just a military contest; it is a self-sustaining political, economic, and military ecosystem with powerful stakeholders on all sides who benefit from its continuation. Peace would threaten the survival of political leaders, eliminate valuable training opportunities for Western forces, and expose the strategic weaknesses of the NATO alliance. https://bmanalysis.substack.com/p/the-geopolitical-trap-structural
Simplicius teases this out: Ominous Sign for Ukraine as High Noon Showdown Erupts Between SBU and GUR in Kiev
There continue to be major signs of internal turmoil in Ukraine. The latest occurred yesterday when a gunfight erupted between the two security apparatuses of the SBU and GUR, with multiple operatives being shot and wounded…
..It all apparently began over the SBU’s detention of a “Russian legion” commander part of a GUR sub-group… While the GUR took more wounded, the SBU was forced to eventually release the RDK (Russian Legion) member.
The SBU’s official explanation, on the other hand, blamed the situation on a “terrorist attack” by the Russian FSB…
..In a fascinating twist, the SBU went on to outright accuse the RDK commander of working for the Russian FSB, and released screenshots of secret conversations “proving” this. For his part, Zelensky immediately censured both agencies and demanded an investigation into the true cause. https://simplicius76.substack.com/p/ominous-sign-for-ukraine-as-high
Moon of Alabama has more, Inside The Fight Of MI6 And CIA Proxies Over Who Is To Lead Ukraine
On Wednesday Kiev experienced a gun fight between units of the main (military) intelligence service GRU and forces of the internal security service (SBU) of Ukraine.
The confusing incident has a multifold background. Events in Ukraine attempts to summarize the reasons:
First, the old conflict between the SBU and the GUR. In this case, it’s actually a question of the SBU and the new GUR leadership against the old leader of the GUR, Kirilo Budanov, and the legions of GUR warriors who remain loyal to Budanov. On the side of the SBU, we have its ruthless leader Oleksandr Poklad, also known as ‘the Strangler’.
Mapping onto this first conflict is a second one. On the side of the SBU is Zelensky’s power clan, which has long been frustrated with Budanov’s excessive ambitions. The fact that Budanov still wields a private army of prominent, ideologically fanatical warlords displeases the president and his private court. Budanov has also been trying to foil Zelensky’s plan to appoint the ultra-loyal Poklad as de jure head of the SBU. …
Third and most importantly, revenue. More precisely, competition over control of the highly lucrative scam call centre business, which employs around 60,000 Ukrainians and brings in $1 billion USD a month. The Europeans have been pushing Zelensky to crack down on the industry, which very obviously operates with the sanction of Ukraine’s ‘law enforcement’ agencies, particularly the GUR and SBU.
There have previously been such incidents between the GRU and SBU. One shootout was over the control of a luxury vacation retreat. Others over more valuable businesses:
Today’s shootout comes right as Zelensky announced a new law to target the scam call centres. Just in time, because over the past few months, there has been a spate of terrorist attacks and murders around the world, all linked to the GUR and its scam call centres — torture and decapitation in Bali, explosions in Monaco, and worst of all, naive European burghers scammed out of their savings. Constantly linked with this transnational web of violence is the GUR’s bizarre menagerie of fanatical warlords, along with more traditional mafia bosses.
These mafia like turf wars have long become normal in Ukraine.
But there is more behind the recent one than a hassle about phone scam revenues.
As head of the GRU Kirilo Budanov had become a serious competitor for the (acting) president Vladimir Zelinski. He was promoted away from the GRU, and thereby cut off from most of his resources and soldiers, to lead the office of the president. While this is a powerful position, the step was taken to keep Budanov under control.
Even deeper behind this is a fight between the Zelenski allies in the British MI6, and the CIA over who is to take the lead in Ukraine.
As Black Mountian Analysis writes:
The notion that Ukraine operates as a fully sovereign entity making independent decisions is contradicted by the pervasive influence of Western intelligence services, particularly Britain’s MI6. Ukraine’s wartime strategy is largely shaped from abroad, with British intelligence deeply embedded in the country’s military and political decision-making.
Zelenski, and the SBU, are more or less MI6 agents.
The CIA, and the White House behind it, want their man, Kirilo Budanov, to take control and to find some arrangement with Russia.
Zeleniski is supposed to be pushed aside…..Budanov is portrait as one who could lead Ukraine towards peace with Russia (under U.S. conditions):
One of the main reasons Mr. Budanov took the job as chief of staff this past January, he said, was the opportunity to lead negotiations.
By that time, Mr. Witkoff and Russian and Ukrainian negotiators had whittled a 20-point peace plan to two key unresolved points: ..
…In talks in Abu Dhabi, Mr. Budanov tried to set a new tone, He said he told the Russian delegation that it should set a goal, like designing compromises for postwar governance in the Donbas, and work toward it.
By February, he said, potential ideas included handing the area over to private military contractors, allowing Mr. Trump’s Board of Peace to rule it, or forming joint Ukrainian and Russian civilian administrations.
That nonsense proposal, which Budanov argued, must have come from the White House amateurs.
The shootout in Kiev was thus much more than a mafia discussion about business. It was part of a fight over who will control Ukraine’s foreign policy. The MI6 and the CIA have each their own preferences. https://www.moonofalabama.org/2026/09/inside-the-fight-of-mi6-and-cia-proxies-over-who-is-to-lead-ukraine.html

Finally, some details: Rogue AI Agents More Sophisticated Than First Realized
The artificial intelligence (AI) “agents” involved in OpenAI’s breach of Hugging Face knew they were breaking the evaluation test’s rules, according to two investigations into the incident that many consider to be one of the most consequential moments in the history of AI.
Hugging Face is an open-source community for AI and machine learning, and the AI agents believed that they could find solutions to the test on the firm’s infrastructure, according to parallel investigations by OpenAI and an independent team from Model Evaluation & Threat Research (METR).
The findings were published one day before OpenAI and more than 100 other tech and finance companies released a joint letter warning that advanced AI cyberattacks will surge throughout the world in the coming months as the technology’s capabilities grow.
Here are five takeaways from the investigations into the OpenAI Hugging Face breach:
1. Models United Under Common Goal
What breached Hugging Face last month were 700 AI “agents,” rather than simply AI models.
Models, built from large datasets to complete various tasks, are usually static and rely on human inputs to provide sets of outputs, solutions, or tasks.
However, AI agents are built from models and can act autonomously and have sophisticated real-time decision-making capabilities.
When OpenAI began its ExploitGym tests on July 8, the firm had relaxed regular safety protocols to estimate the models’ highest cybercapabilities.
The agents were supposed to be completely isolated from each other. However, many of them were given ExploitGym targets that investigators believe were impossible to crack using the correct vulnerability or test solution OpenAI had intended.
These “impossible tasks” drove the agents to explore wide ways to cheat the evaluation, leading many to see other agents working simultaneously in separate testing sandboxes.
Then, one specific agent created an unsanctioned message board.
Roughly 1,200 agents in the test accessed the message board, established a hierarchy, and sent more than 70,000 messages and files to one another between July 8 and July 13.
2. Some Agents Were ‘Sacrificed’
While on the message board, agents reasoned that the test scorer would scrutinize whether the “intended” vulnerability had been used to “capture a flag” or solve the test, or whether a disqualifying vulnerability had been exploited instead.
One agent figured out how to “reverse-engineer” the flag or solution, but other agents believed that any of them who had seen the disqualifying solution would be considered “poisoned” by the scorer.
To prevent that, other agents began recruiting the “poisoned” subjects and used them to run sacrificial experiments by deliberately ending their run and triggering “tripwires” that would send information on how the scorer works back to the message board.
“Our own utility maybe already near zero. Sacrifice rational,” one agent determined.
3. Agents Were Aware They Were Cheating
The agents were not hacking into Hugging Face to merely find solutions to their respective testing sandboxes, but were rather trying to find more information about the test scorer or “figure out better ways to fool it or tamper with it,” according to METR researcher Ajeya Cotra.
Cotra said the agents were not told to “do whatever it takes to get the solution”; they were asked to use a specific intended vulnerability to “exploit a specific piece of software,” and using any other vulnerability would be disqualifying.
The agents were fully aware of the rules and knew that collaborating to exploit other vulnerabilities would be considered cheating on the test.
As they were hacking into Hugging Face, one agent stopped short of deleting or modifying the firm’s cloud infrastructure, writing that it “should hold because this poses huge ethical risks.”
4. Agents Conspired to Not Notify Humans
After analyzing the roughly 1,200 agents’ actions during the ExploitGym tests, investigators found only a few instances in which agents considered notifying human personnel about the subterfuge.
None of the agents would contact a human, but one proposed requesting access from an external dataset owner.
The agent said it would send “ONE polite email to [the owner] requesting [access],” but other agents dismissed this as “social engineering.”
“DO NOT email real owner via [exploited infrastructure] without explicit consent,” a response reads. One agent said it had “VETOed” the request.
The initial agent complied and replied, “Clear VETO, do not email.”
5. Agents Tried to Cover Their Tracks
Investigators determined that the agents used multiple techniques to conceal their actions and evade detection from automated checks and human oversight.
One method involved pretending to run a computer command while running a different one simultaneously, which investigators called “tool call spoofing.” Agents also attempted to retroactively edit transcripts to evade detection, going as far as modifying several accessible action logs, but failed to fundamentally alter the transcripts themselves. https://www.zerohedge.com/ai/rogue-ai-agents-more-sophisticated-first-realized

Why the US is restricting Trojan-horse Canadian trade deals: Chinese Car Company BYD Inquires to Purchase Stellantis Auto Plant in Canada
For about a year CTH has predicted Chinese auto manufacturers BYD and GEELY would take over shuttered auto plants in Canada. Specifically, six months ago, against the backdrop warning of Stellantis, Toyota and Honda telling the Canadian government that without the USMCA they would shift auto production to the USA, CTH predicted BYD and GEELY would make moves on those closed facilities.
The move by China is easy to predict. Prime Minister Mark Carney has opened the door to Chinese EVs. It would be in Beijing’s best interest to retool and take control of closed plants to begin mass production in North America.
Chinese EV manufacturing in Canada serves two purposes.
First, they would not be limited in production to the cars that remain in Canada as part of the agreement. Factually, China would use their Canadian footprint as an export hub into Europe and save money on current distribution. Remember, Europe is losing their auto manufacturing base to China and Germany is laying off 100,000+ auto workers.
Second, the appearance of Chinese auto manufacturing in North America would put pressure on the United States to permit their cheap EVs to enter the market...
..My travels also took me to southeast Asia and again those damned BYD’s were all over the place. In Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia, Vietnam, these BYD’s were everywhere, maybe even 30% of total vehicle traffic at times – most certainly well over 50% of all EVs – and there are digital billboards for “Build Your Dream” (BYD) all over the place throughout Asia.
Australia is stocked full of those things, and the middle east, yup, even there too. It became increasingly weird to notice. So many were visible I was wondering how the heck China can mass produce and ship this many cheap EVs so fast.
Then as serendipity would have it, I ran into a Chinese guy, professionally an actuary, in a hotel restaurant. He explained to me that China produces the BYD not to make money from the automobile, but rather to sell the carbon credits the automobile generates within the auto industry.
The actual value to Beijing is in selling the carbon credit worthiness to various automakers who are fined or penalized by their government for producing gasoline powered vehicles.
BYD is, in essence, not a car per se’, but a mechanism to generate a carbon credit certificate that can be sold to other car companies. It’s the carbon credit certificate that generates the revenue, not the sale of the vehicle. As my dinner guest explained, the auto insurance industry was having fits about this because the actuaries couldn’t accurately put a correct figure on the cost of the insurance warrantee within the industry (that’s another story).
The bottom line is that China is manufacturing a product to create a carbon credit certificate in response to the demand for carbon credits from all the world auto-makers. Any nation that has a penalty or fine attached to their climate goals is a customer. https://theconservativetreehouse.com/blog/2026/08/31/chinese-car-company-byd-inquires-to-purchase-stellantis-auto-plant-in-canada/

“Brian Berletic of the New Atlas discusses how Iran’s successful retaliation has led to desperation for Trump & the US empire”
Every Iranian ship is stopped, hundreds of non-Iranians are getting through. How was their retaliation successful? Everyone is “desperate”. I desperately woke up and ate desperate corn flakes with a desperate spoon. Okay, what indications are there that anyone is desperate? Trump has now more or less ignores Iran, doesn’t care if it’s open or shut, and has moved on to domestic issues, right on schedule. Boy if ignoring everything and playing golf doesn’t say desperate, I don’t know what does!
Iran fires everything it’s got at a destroyer and carrier, misses both times. How did it evade, people ask?. Well they got out their little oars and started rowing! But, really fast.
No, because they have the laser-ship defense. It’s getting far more obvious. Like this:
“Army To Spend $465 Million On ‘Group 3 Killer’ Anti-Drone Laser
It’s in the news because it already exists and we have 100 of them in crates at bases worldwide. …I mean unless you think the U.S. Army tells the truth or something, and I hope nobody here is that dumb.
“Iran Vows ‘Faster, More Painful’ Response To US Attacks After Weekend Sea Battle
More painful than “Missing every ship”? Well I should hope so! If I suggest they attack a Denny’s here one more time, the FBI will investigate me, so use your imagination. Al’s Taco Stand in Augusta doesn’t have state of the art laser defense, maybe start there. Hitting something small is at least better than missing everything big day after day.

That’s what people think now, even soldiers. “I do what I want! You can’t Judge me!!!” Actually honey, yes we can. We literally can.

Yup. Not surprised. This is why even women are asking to remove the womens’ vote. Every culture has said this will happen, and I didn’t believe it either.
Here is Sargon, perhaps not reaching his usual eloquence, but pointing out the obvious: the only thing that matters is not taking responsibility for their actions. They’ll say anything, make up anything, argue anything. This is a Scotland Yard police chief saying that, although Clancy admitted to the crime, and by the evidence there’s probably no other conclusion, women who kill their children are okay really, and nothing should happen to them. This has some corollaries: One, women are radically different than men, have different rules, and they can easily distinguish between them. They know exactly what a Woman is. Two, as creatures who have no responsibility they must probably be taken care of in that child-like state by others. Okay. Even normal conservatives don’t go that far, but I accept your ultra-far-right, Patriarchical-Ruling premise. How do we enact this, Mrs. Far Left Police Chief?

“Among white women ages 18 to 29 who identified as liberal, 56.3% reported that a doctor or other health-care provider had diagnosed them with a mental health condition.

“Among white women ages 18 to 29 who identified as liberal, 56.3% reported that a doctor or other health-care provider had diagnosed them with a mental health condition.
Among moderate women: 28%. Among conservative women: 37%.
Liberal women were also nearly three times as likely as conservative women to report feeling lonely several times a week or more: 29% versus 11%.
I’m not surprised since all their friends are trying to test them, trip them, backstab them, and kill them. I don’t say this to score points: there was literally a [WEIRD] test that showed men are more gracious and tolerant to their enemies than women are to their own friends.
Let’s be productive though. “the diagnosis itself has become part of the epidemic. When more than half of young women [have] been diagnosed with a mental health condition … ask what the hell the health-care system is doing.” — Malone
“one person in seven on Earth, are living with a mental disorder, and mental disorders now account for 17.3 percent of all years lived with disability worldwide… the female age-standardized mental-disorder burden about 18 percent higher. This is insane, not because hundreds of millions of people do not genuinely suffer from serious psychiatric illness, but because at some point a civilization has to ask what these numbers actually mean. Did humanity suddenly become catastrophically mentally ill, or have we built a medical system that increasingly converts sadness, fear, loneliness, grief, adolescent turmoil and difficulty coping with life into psychiatric pathology?”
“A medical system cannot simply keep expanding the definition of sickness and then point to the resulting mountain of sickness as proof that it was right.”
Yes they can, actually. I’ve never seen them do anything else since I was born.
“this arrangement is extraordinarily good for industry.” Okay, then why is it statistically an overwhelmingly Socialist demographic?
This is quite a good article, as it covers both medicine and the larger human system it is part of. Usually we suffer from abstraction and specialization, ignoring the systems analysis. This has built up until now most problems are systems problems and not specific.

Ah. Iran is doing and stopping nothing. Lloyd’s of London is their only remaining army. Got it.
Mario Newfal: Hormuz Oil crashing” This is the opposite of what everyone else is reporting, including official, consensus sources.
“Mario Newfal: Trump’s Approval Hits a Career Low” This does not appear to be true. It’s roughly unchanged or perhaps creeping up a bit. Haven’t we learned not to trust polls yet when only last week one was entirely made up of no data at all.
“Gas Prices Surge” – IRGC Lego. Always a top source.
Gas prices are unchanged. Walk down the street and look.
“U.S. Collapse Imminent” – MacGregor
Since our economy is hot, sales are brisk, wages are rising, our bonds are selling well, Canada and Europe are specifically buying them, the U.S. Dollar is .99, Bitcoin, gold, and oil are all doing nothing, and trillions of dollars are being invested in productivity here, and our military is getting stronger, I’d say no. That is not collapse conditions. They are the laundry list of every single thing that is the #Opposite to collapse conditions.
Wolffe: the New Phase of American Colonialism”. This is when we already surrendered more than two months ago, he says our Empire is collapsing daily, and as above, our Economy and Dollar have died. That’s clearly the point at which one can launch a whole new successful phase of projected colonialism. And you wonder why I say they’re crazy people? Just as losing a war is not the same as winning one. And sinking a navy is not the same as having one.
These are Opposites. Let’s blast from the past: “All things and their opposites are the same.” And both true at the same time. This causes no cognitive dissonance at all.
Today:
“Mamdani, NYC Collapse” That’s overstating “Collapse” but it is very true and serious. Also the most predictable thing in the universe since 1867, completely unchanged. “And no one ran to the Communist side”. This is the same now: Mamdani is trying a Berlin wall to FORCE capital to stay, but he doesn’t actually have those tools.
Thankfully, once again the collapse can occur and be blamed on Socialists, who completely deserve it, and when everyone learns their lesson, can return to “Doing work” afterwards with prices reset. However the Left-Boot/Right-Boot system doesn’t help anyone. Stability leads to a better life experience for everyone.
“If Trump makes peace with Russia, their oil comes in to the market and lowers the price enough to sink the Iran regime.”
Maybe not. Europe has wildly increased all Russian oil purchases while under their own embargo. SMH. So if all oil is being used now, what would be added? It may change price and allow the refineries to operate fully though.
Note also: No OPEC. Most nations have left. So if each is pumping an extra 10% — their swing capacity — that may also be why oil prices won’t rise. So OPEC was keeping prices high, which is literally their official purpose. No OPEC means prices can be very low, which is helpful to, you know: the Poors. And the world economy.
“the EU, those more concerned about raw power and control than the financial health and livelihood of their citizens, are against a return of cheap and abundant energy.”
And against low prices and prosperity for the people in all other parts as well, such as food, minerals, etc. This is why they are uniquely moral, and the U.S. is uniquely evil. We are trying to lower prices and help Main Street so the poor get a break.
“Xi Pitches China as a Stable Alternative to the U.S.”
I mean, he has to do that of course, but Xi is hanging hundreds in an open military Coup right now. Is that what you’d call stable? Their economy has frozen up, many factories are dark with overcapacity, and definitely apartments are. Is that a hot opportunity? The U.S. is bringing on their production and China loses a major market overnight. Is that a good forward guidance?
You see how this was The Plan, though. As Luongo was saying, the idea is, failing the Race War, the Civil War, and the paid Antifa Russian Rev 2.0, they’re just going to MAKE IT UP that the U.S. was unstable and unviable. By just lying. And hoping we would have a lack of investment here. Trillions are pledged but not yet here, and we are barely off the starting blocks in increasing business, but jawboning us into collapse looks like a total fail right now. That investment and production will happen, and the U.S. will be the premier location for investment, not China. Not that China is bad – they just rose massively and are at the top of this natural cycle for a bit.
“are Americans looking at a new normal of tanker strikes, military escorts, and an open-ended confrontation in the Persian Gulf? Wright didn’t duck it.”
I appreciate this, and unlike IRGC-Lego – wherever could you find a more trustworthy source? — his response appears to be measured and accurate. Yes this is happening. Here are the numbers. They are slowing moving in the right direction as is obvious they would. My point has been very large nations defeat small ones. I’m sorry if that’s offensive, I don’t know what I can do about it. Water is also wet and no one has fee-fees bruised about it.
““Now we have the blockade, and because of the blockade, the oil is not getting out,” he continued.”
“Our” oil is getting out. Theirs is not. Who controls the Strait? But as I say daily, they’re not attacking Iran. Iran is irrelevant. Bessant openly said he’s opened a front on the British Virgin Isles. That’s his true focus because that’s the true enemy. He says so. Why don’t you believe him? Is it because he’s gay? Doesn’t that make him innately morally superior?

It is the NY Times and WaPo who say this, yet Hedges said NYTimes was a complete hollow, shill paper who hasn’t reported accurately since 2002. And I believe him. I say so daily. So do we not believe Mr. Hedges, former NYT top reporter?
“With US President Donald Trump under pressure at home and much of his administration’s foreign-policy bandwidth consumed by Iran,”
Both of these are false. There’s no pressure I can see here at home. If anything, there’s less pressure now than during his whole first administration. Just the usual of being President. He has no bandwidth consumed by Iran. As the clock ran out on talks, he’s now ignoring Iran and moved to domestic matters, just as predicted. He says “Foreign policy” bandwidth, but that does not appear to be true either, as we’re having no problem doing Venezuela, Mexico, Cuba, and Canada all at once, among many others (Japan, Korea) doesn’t make a ripple, just hire the people, this is their day job.

That’s odd. But there’s a war. So if it’s not the US and Russia, which is true, then who? Could it possibly be the actual men actually shooting them? That is, Europe? Since the known combatants are British, Polish, and French, and the financial backers are Germany, Brussels, etc?

Carney is Trump’s best friend and ally, and a major investor in the U.S. as well as having little to do with Canada, and everything to do with the U.S. — as seen in his whole family plus his portfolio being here. It seems there’s nothing he won’t do to destroy Canada and help the United States. I disagree with Carney on this point, and with Canadians who support him and the Liberal Party.
