Maxwell, it’s hard to say what goes on behind the scenes, and we can’t hope to get in someone else’s head (despite the number of people who seem to live in Putin’s head … surprised the guy has room for a brain in there).

I get the feeling Desmet stays in his lane because that’s what he has studied, researched, and feels confident speaking about. Maybe more people need to stay in their lanes.

Btw, Desmet talks about what motivates the “leader/elites/etc” (whichever obnoxious term you prefer). He says that although they don’t believe the narrative they’re spouting, they do believe the “idealism.” (I take that to mean … saving the climate, fighting for Ukraine’s democracy, etc., etc.)

I just bought Desmet’s book, still need to read it. I find it interesting he’s now being denigrated and, shocker, fact checked (lol), etc. What he says in interviews is more in keeping with The Markster’s summary. With the added note that people were first feeling isolated in their lives (hard to argue that considering the past couple decades) and had free-floating anxiety because of that, that couldn’t be pinned to something specific. Until covid … which gave them a place to pin the anxiety and a “cause to fight.” What followed (the battle cry, so to speak) of lockdown, mask, social distancing, vaxx is the result. And also, the “ritual” to prove you’re in the fight, and I don’t think any of us would argue that 6′, one mask, two masks, plastic face shield, hand sanitizer, bleaching groceries, mask standing up/not sitting down in restaurants, etc, etc, can be defined as anything but rituals.

I’ll stick with Desmet. He’s smart, he seems to care, he makes sense. I haven’t read any of the stuff written in opposition to him. I’m wondering why it’s being done … now.

If this has been posted before, my apologies. Jerm Warfare interview with Ed Dowd on Aug 31. Yes, a lot of it we already know but it’s interesting to listen to in one conversation.

VV: “The only country that is successfully combating the coronavirus pandemic is China.”

Huh? Agree with AFKTT’s push back on this. I’ll go a bit further … what pandemic [that China is combating] are we facing at this point?

We’re heading toward 3 years into this. The “pandemic” (I’ve become uncertain what that term actually means) was over ages ago. And I’m in NY – the place they decided would be ground zero of this particular pandemic. I’m hoping they pick someplace else next time they need to launch this sh*t.

AFKTT: #115630. Discontinuity. Good summary. [Human] time frame unknown. πŸ˜‰ But that does appear to be what’s happening. A few conversation(s) I’ve had recently with those highly tied into “the system” who state, “my retirement funds have taken a hit with the economy, but my advisor said it’ll be ok in the long run.” (People are in their early 60s …)

When I mention Russia and China paying for petro outside the US dollar there is silence. Not only have they not heard about it, they don’t understand the ramifications.

Armenio, yes. I understand that perspective. But she isn’t the only stupid person that rose through the ranks. Harris, for example. I don’t know as that’s sinister or it’s indicative of the fact the stupid ones make it easier for someone else to be puppeteer. Perhaps just a difference in how you and I define? πŸ™‚

John Day, here’s the rub. When Biden says “[they] don’t just threaten our personal and economic rights, they embrace political violence… They threaten our very democracy.”

He’s actually looking in a mirror and doesn’t quite realize it. πŸ˜‰

Keep it up, a**holes. You’re doing a great job!!! [thumbs up emoji]

I still maintain — it had to get this bad before ordinary people would actually believe it is this bad. More info related to TAE’s Epoch Times article today about the Fauci, et al, communications with social media regarding covid censorship. This one straight from the horse’s mouth, so to speak, as Brownstone authors are plaintiffs in the suit. Of note:

“The Constitution never allowed an exception for an administrative bureaucracy answerable not even to voters to collaborate with large-scale private corporations to obtain the same result by other means. It’s still a violation of free speech.”

I’m left wondering why any administrative bureaucrat has privacy privilege for work-related communications. Unless they’re involved in highly sensitive state secrets (CDC? FDA? What – Trump gave them the nuclear codes??) it seems they should have the same expectations of privacy we have when communicating with employer-owned equipment and services. Which is … none.

@DBS, I see what you’re saying. I’d rework that particular aspect to make clear that you’re talking about authentic value. I read it as the provider of a good/service always being in the right, which is inherently not true. πŸ™‚

@phoenix, I was going to leave this alone, but … “There is a family that I knew years ago that was hiding (drug dealing) income to get Medicaid.”

So it is acceptable to commit fraud (and felonies), keep your money in your pocket to spend on the things you want, and let others cover your health insurance and healthcare costs?

And, ” … it was difficult for me to categorically say that this family should be cut off from Medicaid because the father was hiding his illegal income …

This is at the core of why people are [more and more] feeling like they’re chumps for working hard, being honest, and being forthright in their interactions with society.

Dr D points this out all the time. Starts at the top. Leaders pull this sh*t and get away with it … so it keeps on rolling downhill. And here we are … drug dealers deserve free healthcare because it would be too hard on the family to take it away.

DBS: interesting assessment of relationships and the role of respect. I’d push back on this particular observation: “Such fights are ALWAYS caused by the recipient of valued goods or services not showing the correct amount of respect to the provider of those valued goods and services. “

There are times when the recipient gave the provider respect [and value for the good or service], but the good/service did not live up to the provider’s stated claim of value. At which point, it isn’t the recipient that is showing lack of respect, is it? Didn’t the provider show lack of respect for the recipient by providing a shoddy good/service well in advance of the ensuing argument? Always and never can be difficult to support.

@phoenix: your Medicaid health coverage type of story doesn’t just play out for Medicaid recipients. I wouldn’t even want to begin with the stories of those of us who “fall through the cracks” and earn too much for Medicaid, too much to qualify for “subsidies” toward purchasing our own coverage, and aren’t offered coverage through an employer (who increasingly offer worse coverage and pay less of the premium).

If you don’t fit The Model (maybe I should trademark that) … it’s pretty much a get lost scenario.

Perhaps. But not by the sitting “present dent” (openly admit to hijacking that from a commenter on a diff board). Sad that Democratic party members now find that acceptable. Hope they feel the same in the future [however long it takes] when the pendulum swings … I feel a bit of karma circling.

Hi oxy. It’s a tough time, isn’t it?

“I spoke out, but in a way that was critical of their choices rather than voicing simply my own truth”

Thank you for saying that. I’ve done the same thing and need to take a step back and think before I speak.

“Sometimes I can be β€˜a lot’ as I am enthusiastic and passionate about ethics and principles … so it comes off as rude (probably more insensitive)”

I’m guilty of the same. Unintentional, but you nailed it with that description. Another thing I need to do better about.

As far as med professionals’ awareness of, well, pretty much anything … my sister is an MD in a different state. I won’t bore everyone with the growling and snarling matches that have taken place over the past couple years, especially concerning the jabs. Although she did confidently state, not kidding, that the jab was better than natural immunity since natural immunity lasted only a couple months. I asked, based on what data? Silence.

When I gave my MD sister holy hell because my beloved 20 year old niece (her daughter) got vaccinated to attend college, know what she said? “Well, R**** doesn’t really want to have children.” (name redacted to protect the innocent). I was absolutely speechless.

I’ve done the same thing you did, poking at the local med professionals over the past couple months. It’s like talking to zombies. They hear it, blank look comes over their faces, and it goes right through them and keeps right on going. It’s creepy. I’m tired of it.

Bill7: “It’s possible to feel a little bit sorry for Joe Biden.”

I used to, not for joe personally, but because he was so obviously feeble and senile I felt bad, much like I would for any elderly person. Not any more. After being hounded, yelled at, berated, and threatened for the past year+ I’ve had enough.

I saw the “walk back” joe did on Friday. I suppose “walk back” is not a good description of what is being done but everyone understands it. I also don’t have a good link or would post it. I’ve seen where joe’s initial “speech” statement was played, followed by his statement to the press the next day. Lying sack of garbage. Yes, all politicians lie, but joe is particularly nasty about it. I don’t care he’s senile. He chose to take this on, let the cards fall.

Herr: the small homes here that have bidding wars are SMALL – like 1100-1200 sq ft or less ranches or similar to that. As long as they’re not in urban environments, they’re prime. I don’t imagine it’s just here. Times have changed over the past 5+ years. Long gone is the boom that took place pre-2008 … people can’t afford those big homes anymore. Btw, have 2 family members who work in high-end construction. They were ridiculously busy leading up to 2008. Could literally pick/choose their work, taking Friday afternoons off and no builders would question it cause they needed the help. That’s not happening anymore. One of those family members is now working in high[er] end renovation. People are keeping their modest homes and making them work by finishing basements, upgrading bathrooms, etc. He’s booked through the end of the year and turning away work.

Red: “Only too aware … Have been bitching about this since the eighties, too few understand this.”

lol. Figured you were smarter than that based on your comments – thanks for clarifying. πŸ˜‰

Have seen comments here and there from people thinking that maybe the Biden PR people didn’t realize how that set would come across. Uh, no. For crying out loud, people practice a wedding the day before it happens. You think the PR folks didn’t check out the lighting, etc, in advance? At least once? Twice maybe?? Seriously. Get a grip. Ahhh … oxy … best at this point to leave politics out of the family conversations, sad to say. It has gotten too polarized. It’s interesting that Biden’s speech is a talking point in Aus. What’s up with that?

Biden’s speech was wrong, just plain wrong, by any American standard, and that’s the rub. I don’t care what the twits are tweeting or CNN is spouting … aside from that insular group, even Dems know deep down it was wrong. Yesterday AFKTT posted a video about constructing expensive new housing that people cannot afford. I watched it (1.5 speed, goes faster and you can still grasp everything the guy says).

Our problem here in upstate NY is a bit different, but the same concept. We have a boatload of large, expensive houses …. 5000-6000+ sq ft w/5-6 bathrooms …that sit on the market for ages and unless they have a highly desirable attribute, the price keeps dropping and they don’t sell. This has been going on for years.

On the other hand, small ranch houses that haven’t been updated at all since the 1960s/70s … literally have bidding wars. The realtor will post the listing, pics, etc., about 10 days in advance of when the house is open for showing, then within 24 hours of opening for showings will have multiple offers over the listing price.

People don’t want large, costly to heat/maintain houses (not to mention our property tax rate here is sky high) … unfortunately, that’s all that was constructed over the past several decades.

Hello market, meet consumer. πŸ˜‰ Big disconnect.

Turley’s note, “The United States has long drawn a line between the work of federal employees in public service and the use of such employees for political purposes.”

I was wondering about that, also, when I saw a clip the other day of a different Biden “stump speech” that had uniformed police officers behind him. I understand the police can support whomever they choose, but didn’t think they could do that when in uniform?

Am I all wet on that?
