I just got a post in my Instagram feed from a local acquaintance (who I have not seen in some time as he and his wife have been staying home a lot) showing a screen shot of the page on his phone that you go to to cancel your premium plan on Spotify. I am so tempted to post that Neil Young: Under 30, 31-60, 61 and up meme in his comments section, but why bother. How can you reason with people that are all in on an aging, irrelevant former rock “star” determining what they can or cannot read or hear or see?

That has been the surprise to me–assuming most of my friends and acquaintances are, if not against these “vaccines” at least anti mandate, anti squashing free speech, anti censorship anti cancel culture.

Nope. For example my friend who owns a bar restaurant in town that I patronized all through the pandemic while 7/8 of the town was afraid to come out of their house, who decided a few weeks ago to VOLUNTARILY make his establishment vaccine passport only, just like NYC. There are a few establishments in town, plus the local movie theater, that have done this.

Of course a week later he had to shut temporarily because Covid was spreading among his fully vaxxed staff. And yet, still insisting on mandates. This willful denial and refusal to change even in the face of incontrovertible evidence is bizarre. I know the pat answer is mass formation, but there must be other forces at work on these people, because I know most of them to possess what we refer to as intelligence.

It has definitely changed my social landscape in a big way. For instance, the aforementioned bar restaurant was the main place I took my 12-year-old son to eat for the past 6years. While the mandate is in effect I have no decision to make–unless I want to let him know I recently had Covid and I presumably have natural immunity, will that do?

But at some point one would hope, since this is a mandate that was imposed voluntarily, that it will be rolled back. Do I then once again patronize the place? Suddenly my money is okay again? I don’t think so. Yet I need to be careful, because if you cut too much off, at some point you can’t function all that well in the community.

It took the CDC 2 years to figure out N95 masks work better than cloth? Of course not. So it’s curious why they suddenly announce this, during the least deadly variant wave yet. What a crock. It’s actually comical how most people wear their mask. I don’t wear one unless I simply can’t get away with not wearing one, such as work. Even at the height of the pandemic, when shopping I only ever wore a cloth bandana. Science my ass. Truly we’ve become a nation of hysterical retards.

I liked Neil Young for a little while 40 years ago. I even bought his “Rockabilly” album. He is in no position to offer any ultimatum that anyone would take seriously. Although it does seem like maybe he sorta tried to issue one but didn’t get the memo on exactly how to do it:
“Please act on this immediately today and keep me informed of the time schedule,” the statement continues. “I want you to let Spotify know immediately today that I want all of my music off their platform. They can have Rogan or Young. Not both.”
The last two sentences are an ultimatum. Unfortunately he canceled it out in the previous two sentences. Maybe that’s why he took the letter down from his website so his handlers can edit it for him. I’m sure Spotify is anxiously waiting to hear what Mr. Young will do. Weird that the whole Joe Rogan thing has been going on for months and Young just decided to make his big move now. I guess once you are a star, the need for attention never goes away.

    @lawfish Good one!

Also, that Smartest Man I Know and Stupid SOB is hilarious.

I’m only going for the funny stuff now. That’s why I like Jimmy Dore. Too tired of trying to keep up with statistics and variants of variants and all that crap after 2 years. At this point its like hitting my head repeatedly with a rubber mallet.

Meanwhile more genetic non-covid health issues to deal with, better do it while they will still let me into the facilities…

I have not seen the movies, but in the book, Frodo is unable to resist the power of the ring. It is only destroyed because Gollum bites off the finger with the ring and then falls to his death in Mt. Doom. Of course one could argue that Frodo’s compassion toward Gollum is what makes that denouement possible.

That Tom Hanks Biden promo is disgusting. Especially the end, when Biden comes on and says we can do anything, as long as we do it together. Vax mandates, war-mongering, trying to circumvent the Constitution, etc. etc. All together now.

Tulsi Gabbard as far as I have seen is definitely the most sane politician I have heard in a long time. Her going on Tucker Carlson a bunch, her not being afraid to mention God, not being afraid to be anti-war–these I believe are all very smart moves. Her peeps should call Joe Rogan when the time is right. I would relish the opportunity to vote for her.

There would have to be a hell of a lot of raw elderberry in those smoothies to be even mildly toxic. Maybe super sensitive might get a tummy ache. Big to do about nothing, due to the “newsworthy irony.” They should just switch to an extracted cooked juice form to get rid of the mild toxicity.

I’ve had personal experience with this. Last year my son and I watched this Monty Python clip:
    <iframe width=”560″ height=”315″ src=”https://www.youtube.com/embed/QSo0duY7-9s&#8221; title=”YouTube video player” frameborder=”0″ allow=”accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture” allowfullscreen></iframe>

    https://youtu.be/QSo0duY7-9s

Shortly after that, I was at the bulk spice section of my local natural market and I saw elderberries. I bought a few handfuls and took them home. After dinner I asked my son if he could guess what they were. I gave him some funny hints. Anyway, we then proceeded to eat some. I ate a bunch more than he did, as he thought they tasted bad. At some point I decided to google how you are supposed to use them.

I started to panic a bit when the results showed the berries to be poisonous when eaten raw. But eventually, way down in the results, I found out you really would have to try hard to make yourself nauseous and would need to consume an amount well beyond a reasonable serving, especially in a commercial smoothie where presumably cost of ingredients is a big consideration. Went to bed reassured but nevertheless prepared to wake up to throw up. The night passed uneventfully. If it’s on the internet, it must be true. Only problem is, which version?

I’m afraid this is just not true. Yes, we endlessly discuss the craziness, but I don’t think we’ll be leading a division carrying a TAE banner. We do what we can. My main thing right now is to go maskless in stores “requiring”masks. And to take note of local businesses taking it upon themselves to require a vaccine passport and photo i.d. Never again. Other than that, I’m heading to a school board meeting to take on the mask mandate. And I have tickets to see a bunch of Front Line doctors speakin in Poughkeepsie on the 29th.

Stopped into my local bikeshop today and the owner is getting ready to close and move to Colorado. He showed me some chatter on a bike biz board that the city of Taijin is about to be locked down. This is where a ton of parts are made. He has not been able to get Shimano or Sram parts for more than a year. Granted, the bigger shops still have some access, but the current buzz is that the coming shutdowns will be brutal for everyone not working with a mega brand. And in fact Trek is now opening its own retail shops, further crushing small indy bike biz.

The WSJ, on the shutdowns coming:
China Covid-19 Lockdowns Hit Factories, Ports in Latest Knock to Supply Chains
The potential consequences are more severe this time, economists warn, because of the highly contagious nature of Omicron, which has been detected in some areas of China. The variant is hitting the country as Beijing seeks to contain outbreaks ahead of the Winter Olympics, which are set to begin on Feb. 4.

“The risk posed by the Omicron variant is that we could take a huge step back in terms of supply-chain bottlenecks,” said Frederic Neumann, co-head of Asian Economics Research at HSBC. “This time, the situation could be even more challenging than last year given China’s increasingly significant role in global supply.”

Several economists said China may escalate its containment policy and some have touted the possibility of a nationwide lockdown, unseen since April 2020. Goldman Sachs on Tuesday cut China’s 2022 growth forecast to 4.3% from 4.8% in light of the latest Covid-19 developments.

Damn good question. A big hint is the source for the “hospitals near capacity” :U.S., government figures show. Like every other figure out of its database, always highly suspect. And from what I understand, even in “non-covid” times, flu season always threatens to stress the system.

Wasn’t there a link recently, a first person essay from a doctor, describing how even patients in hallways is mostly SOP . Now add in shortages because hospital staff are coming down with Omicron, or have been sidelined due to mandates, and that is why the qualifier in that lede “staffed hospital beds”

Just in case you thought everything was easing up, here are today’s NYT headlines (disclaimer: I did not read the actual articles):
Hospitals Nearing Capacity in 2 Dozen States as Omicron Spreads

The extremely contagious variant is fueling a coronavirus wave that is pushing hospitals close to capacity in several parts of the U.S., government figures show.
At least 80 percent of staffed hospital beds were occupied in 24 states on Thursday. I.C.U.s in 18 states and Washington, D.C., were nearly full. Here’s the latest.
(Well, now that the SCOTUS has okayed vaccine mandates for health care workers, the staffed hospital beds situation should improve. Wait…)

The Supreme Court blocked an employer virus rule but let a health worker mandate stand.
An “employer virus rule?” WTF? I guess “mandate”is too gender specific? But still okay to use for health care workers. So confusing!

No shots, no day care: Parents of children under 5 are wrestling with crises.
Ah, this must be the Nursery School Mandate. I mean Rule.
Novak Djokovic’s Visa Is Revoked Again by Australia
The decision adds another twist in a drawn-out drama over the tennis star’s refusal to be vaccinated against the coronavirus. Follow our updates.

Analysis: When Tennis Became a Stage for Right and Wrong During a Pandemic

The move to deport Novak Djokovic from Australia represents an enforcement of collectivist values against an athlete who sought to play by his own rules.

Wow. I almost want to read this one! Enforcement of collectivist values vs. playing by his own rules. Right vs. Wrong. Now there’s a compelling match! In any case, seems a bit beyond medical science at this point,no?

    Annd, right on que:

To Fight Covid, We Need to Think Less Like Doctors

Now that’s confusing, too. Because the majority of doctors haven’t been thinking like doctors. So do they mean we should think less like those doctors–so, like “real doctors?” Or less like the few doctors that still think like doctors used to think?

I’m not an anti vaxxer. I am anti this mRNA therapy. Although not harmless, I don’t expect it will cause hundreds of millions of deaths. My biggest concern is the way it is being forced on populations, and how weak the objections have been to this point. I think giving life to exaggerated claims can do great harm to the fight against mandated vaccinations.

“joe Biden” said: America doesn’t need to settle for less. We need an economy that has the capacity to generate more growth, more jobs, and more opportunity for all Americans.”

Sorry “Joe Biden.” Wrong answer. America needs to learn to live with waaaay less. But of course we won’t go there willingly–not the politicians, not the technocrats running the corporations, not the people. We’ll be banging around like a blind bull in a China shop with the lights turned out, assuming some mad actor doesn’t release a real disease, or we don’t start WWIII with Russia.

Regarding the Australian tennis star, here is an interesting take that evolved from the Antonio Brown incident last weekend. For those who don’t follow football, apologies. But the commentator spins from there and talks about Tom Brady being a coward because of what the commentator says is Brady’s untruthful stance regarding the vaccine. Lots of interesting ideas here. I came across this guy (Jason Whitlock) by “chance” on my feed. I have not even googled him. He is probably famous, I picked up that he is Christian. Anyway, here is a link to where he starts in on Brady, but I recommend the full video (though the guy he is talking with needs to do something about the terrible sound quality. As I explained in an earlier post, I have mild symptoms. But it still has me thinking of ways to conserve energy, including mental and psychic energy.

A lot of us here find it difficult not to respond when directly challenged. I think it might be part of the same set of traits that has us here in the first place. But when we continually take the bait of someone who has shown a disturbing fixation on disparaging viewpoints expressed here for courteous discussion, we only give oxygen to his desire to …. to do whatever it is he is trying to do.

More on this general idea of wasted time on futile and unworthy pursuits in a future post. For now I would simply say, Do what you always do, get what you’ve always got. Nothing frustrates an attention seeker more than being ignored. I am taking my oath right now. Not even a third party reference or acknowledgement. Just too wasteful. And to what purpose? I started feeling sick Thursday, got in an appointment for a PCR on Saturday, but they said not to expect results for 2-5 days due to backlog. I’m against the fixation on testing, but need to for work protocols. Got my hands on a rapid home test last night, came back quite positive.

I’m feeling pretty good, took my 3rd dose of IVM this morning. Also continuing with my VitD and Zinc, which I’ve been doing since early on. And aspirin, and an antihistamine with 10mg Loradine.

Light fever comes and goes, occasional headache, runny nose, muscle and bone aches, loss of appetite. The worst was a generalized lower back pain that was very uncomfortable.

It was all so mild that I amost did not go on the IVM, but I thought why not give myself all possible advantage.

All I know is, “stewpeter and stewpeter” gets me every time–the dry wit!

But deflationista is above taking on lightweights like Malone. When not posting photos of burning cars, he tackles the world famous Anti Vax Actress Krystal Tini. Wiki: Krystal Tini is an actress who is also a professional dancer, model, choreographer, costume designer as well as a make-up artist, and hairstylist. A multi-talented persona, Krystal makes her own line of hair accessories and yoga/dancewear. In 2017, she played Young Maria in the horror-thriller “The Crossbreed“.

Then again, maybe he’s starstruck. The vaxxers have Big Bird and Bill DeBlasio, our side has Krstal Tini. Go Team!

By the way, many of the doctors speaking out against the Pfizer etc. mRNA vaccines A. are not anti-vax, and B. in some cases (though they may now regret it) have been vaccinated themselves. The term is meaningless except for those interested in creating propaganda.

The sheer desperation and stupidity of using someone like Ms. Tini to, what, make your point about “anti vaxxers” being “stewpeter”? — is almost painful to observe. Let me know if you’d like to borrow my copy of The Real Anthony Fauci.

TDK: i have watched football (i.e. soccer) for years and have NEVER ever seen a match stopped for a cardiac arrest in the stands. i have seen three matches stopped this season, and read of many, many more.

That is certainly puzzling. Though it is not being mirrored in the U.S. on the college or professional sports level, which boasts an extremely high vaccination compliance rate, even when you account for phony vaccine passports. Maybe the Euro players are mostly taking a different vaccine? In any case, I would say the soccer player stuff is looking suspicious, but an EMS call for a football fan being ill is not worthy of a second thought at this point. Sometimes a heart attack is just a heart attack. Or whatever it was. Now, will they find out when or if the patient was vaccinated or boosted and report or record that info? Almost definitely not. So that’s an issue.
