As usual, many aspects of the latest disaster were avoidable -but local Deceit and Crime organisations didn’t do the job the community needed them to do, like ensure drains and flood systems were clear of vegetation and obstructions- and now many people are left with ruined lives and no help.
Chipmunk will do plenty of posturing and deliver plenty of empty rhetoric, of course, as always happens, whichever Airstrip in Oceania is affected by a disaster.

Obviously, severe storms raise remediation costs and to the extent they are insured, insurance companies pay those bills. And with reinsurers wary of taking on more risk, the insurers themselves face higher risk. Premiums are rising. By just how much was revealed by IAG in some public filings today. In New Zealand they raised premiums by +10.1% last year and said that was “largely due to rate increases” rather than winning new clients. As a consequence, they report their “insurance margin rose to 15.2%, up from 11.4%”, although to be fair that was before these latest rise in ‘perils’. They used the general ‘climate change’ narrative to bolster margins significantly, and from a dominant market position. Given that front-running, it is their turn to absorb the current spike in claims costs in 2023. They will do that, however they will undoubtedly use these events to hike premiums aggressively again. Front-running is a wonderful position for a dominant insurer. Oh, and by the way, IAG said its after tax profits rose +170% from the first half of 2021 to the first half of 2022.’

What has been missing from recent discussion is the deliberate manipulation of the populace of Airstrips by corporations using the techniques developed and promoted by Bernays, nephew of Freud, from the 1920s on.

In essence, agree with that stance.
On the other hand, since many humans are nasty, manipulative creatures that like to feel superior to others and like to try force others to conform to their unscientific (anti-scientific) preconceived narratives/opinions and to denigrate anyone who disagrees, it is good to be reminded of that fact that not all people are well-informed, kind and cooperative. Indeed, a substantial portion of any population is uninformed, stupid, manipulative, selfish, greedy and cowardly and yet potentially vicious.

My manipulative, uninformed, psychotic neighbour took to firing water over the fence yesterday evening because I decided to move my lawns at around 5pm. That is the neighbour who was taken by ambulance, following a heart incident.
We know that one of the symptoms of the death jabs is impaired cognitive capacity. Indeed, a combination of impaired capacity to think and a stubborn refusal to look at the evidence is what caused so many to line up for the death jabs in the first place.

I am well away from the path of the latest storm, halfway up the South Island, a bit north of Christchurch. Here the weather is fine, just a somewhat stronger than normal easterly (as per the website Germ kindly linked).
Whilst other storm system in other parts of the world have recorded lower millibar readings, one should note that here in the South Island the pressure is about 1010 mb. So the gradient is of the order of 40 mb.
Also of note is the fact that much Airstrip Five landscape is V valleys cut into soft rock and clay, following recent [in geological terms] uplift. Soft rock + heavy rain = slips. V-shaped valleys + rain = washed out roads and bridges.
Also, 5 to 7 metre waves could be a ‘problem’.
Not likely to be much loss of [human] life. Just a lot of mess. mess on top of the mess from the last drenching, which has yet to be cleaned up.
Meanwhile here in North Canterbury, the stream has dried up. So some rain would be welcome.

On the matter of Canadian Prepper, today’s comments highlight the danger of providing warnings about what is likely to happen. When it doesn’t happen, or happens on a different time, scale people immediately declare; “You’re just Chicken Little, telling everyone the sky is falling when it isn’t.”

I think of it this way.

Therefore, the general populace is at war with all of them -banks, politicians, bureaucrats, economists. And the banks enforcers, the police and private security companies, whose job is to protect the bankers and their agents.
That said, the politicians, bureaucrats and economists have been playing mind games for such a long time they believe their own bullshit. And the bulk of the uneducated, uncurious populace believes the same bullshit. So they don’t know who the real enemy is. Probably never will.
It all makes it very easy for the controllers of ‘advanced western [fake] democracies’ to keep promoting the short-term interests of the banks above everything else and to keep lying to the masses until the who fake system collapses.

With regard to the temperature graph covering hundreds of millions of years, I wonder what proxies were used to estimate the temperature at various points of time, since there are no actual temperature records before around 1650.
Whatever the proxies were, we can be pretty sure that by desequestering enough of the ancient carbon via the burning of coal, oil and natural gas, and by converting limestone into cement, industrial humans will rapidly increase the average temperature of the Earth by 3oC-to-8oC, whatever fake systems of ‘carbon trading’, electric cars, biofuels, ‘hydrogen economy’ or any other of the utter nonsense promoted by the bankers and their agents gets implemented between now and when it all collapses.

Regarding stocking up on rice and other basic foodstuffs promoted in the video: since the total quantity of food is finite, buying larger quantities of what is in store educes the total stored quantity and means that another person will go without/starve.

The correct response to looming food shortages is to produce food in home gardens and within communities. However, the controllers have been trying to stamp out home food production and local foraging, whilst promoting increased reliance on corporate systems, for centuries -except for a brief period when Airstrip One’s globalised food systems were nearly brought to a standstill between 1940 and 1943: then the controllers were very much in favour of home gardens and local foraging because they needed to ensure there would be cannon-fodder in the future.
The local Deceit and Crime organisation (Hurunui District Council), the local local government sector of Airstrip Five, remains fully committed to promoting future starvation via the conversion of pastoral land into concrete-and-asphalt dystopia, accompanied by the mandatory planting of trees that produce no edible fruits.
Also, very high on the priority list of the various Deceit and Crime organisations that constitute government on Airstrip Five is tourism, especially that involving long international flights and involving long journeys on roads facilitated by the use of fossil-fuel-powered vehicles.
Judging by what is happening both internationally and locally, it all comes to an ignominious end some time over the next year or so.
That said, we are always amazed just how adept the controllers are at shifting the deck chairs on the ‘Titanic’ to make it appear that it is not sinking very rapidly.

A couple of days ago I heard what sounded like a squadron of Spitfires moving up the state highway 9300 metres away). Pity those who live on the state highway.
The noise was so loud it was audible for five minutes, which I estimate to correspond to a distance of at least 5 kilometres. Presumably, a gang of motorcycle enthusiasts riding bikes with all the exhaust baffles removed. Apparently legal, or not actionable by officialdom.
Saturn was up before most humans on Airstrip Five today. I saw it this morning in the predawn sky, beating the Sun by about an hour.
Thankfully cloud arrived a little later to protect us from the Sun. Yesterday was a real scorcher: 33oC in the shade and 40oC in the building I have been constructing; 52o+ in the attic despite ventilation. Surfaces too hot to walk on. People were ‘dropping like flies’ and those who could congregated in and around rivers.

I’ve never been to Sweden but do know there is a meme that the Swedes get their clothes off and run around outside stark naked. Some even break ice and jump into freezing water before getting ultra-warm via wood stoves.

I understand that by not imposing destructive (self-destructive) Covid policies, Swedes have done a lot better than other industrialised nations throughout the fake Covid pandemic.
