Today, March 1st, the Hong Kong government got rid of all mask laws. Up until now there was a 5000 HKD (630 USD) fine for not wearing a mask in a public place, unless it was on public transport where the fine was 10000 HKD (1260 USD, for the mathematically retarded).
I went into the center of Hong Kong this afternoon, I was surprised to see almost 50% of people not wearing masks, but then I went to Kowloon and there were over 90% of people still wearing masks. Yesterday I was speaking to a nihilist – something I generally try to avoid doing – who asked me whether I had heard the saying “The problem with faith is the faithful”. Of course I have heard that in vacious forms and the saying probably goes back centuries. But faith is inherent in humanity because faith is belief. We all believe stuff that we take on trust. Taking things on trust is a form of belief. For example, when you see a map of all the nations of the earth, you probably take it on trust that the map is approximately right, even though there is no way that you personally could check out all those borders. Sure, people will argue about the difference between faith and belief, but it is all semantics. Some people honestly believe in astrology, some in herbal medicines, that is as much a faith or belief as believing in God.
I replied to the nihilist that this is a very unhelpful statement as all humans have faith in something and therefore that statement implies that humanity is the problem. Her reply was “Exactly”. Unfortunately our conversation was cut short and I was not able to understand why she thinks humanity is the problem. Any military op to place explosives onto four pipelines, explosives placed manually by divers, would have completed the job successfully. These are some of the top divers in the world, how would they miss a pipeline and only get three out of the four? Of course, if the explosives were dropped into the approximate area from above then you could well miss a pipeline, but manually placed by military divers? I think not.

DeSantis is a good example of the principles of political leadership. We discussed this some time ago in the comments, but the principle is basically this. The wannabe leader must earn support by offering the people what they want. Leaders cannot generally change the theinking of their targetted audience, instead they promote themselves by doing what their audience want them to do. They are led by their audience, not the other way around. Obviously at some stage they then use that power to also do things that benefit their friends, but they have to earn the leadership first.
You can see this in the very ambitious DeSantis. He is doing what the Trump supporters want, implementing changes in Florida to attract the Trump voters. He is backed and owned by the same old RINO financiers, the Koch brothers, but he is being funded in order to draw votes away from Trump. It is quite an obvious play and appears to be working. I am sure that the likes of Soros will also fund him as he is controlled opposition, rather than the real Trump opposition.
I am sure that many Democrat financers will get behind DeSantis as it becomes more apparent that the Democrat party may not win the next election. TDS is their game and DeSantis is their Jesus.

How the hell do you know what Putin thinks? If we was a real communist then why didn’t he take Russia to communism – I would say “back” to communism, except it never was at communism – rather than to aristocracy disguised as democracy? Calvin lost his truck because he was not willing to fight for it. He opted to be a coward. Moe knew Calvin was a coward and would not fight, that is why he challenged Calvin to a fight. Calvin should at least have started to fight Moe to see how it goes, to call Moe’s bluff. You could argue that Calvin’s problem was that this situation rarely happens – had not happened before – so he was not prepared. Unfortunately Calvin’s evaluation of the situation after the event is also not going to help him, he does not focus on how to prevent this happening again – learning to fight – but on how hard done by he is; he focuses on his role as the better person, the victim of his own goodness.
