Veracious Poet and oxymoron, I very much appreciate your posts. I think you are the two people I most identify with in this thing.

I don’t feel fear, but I do feel a constant feeling of foreboding anxiety.

“He said – look at everyone pretending we aren’t in a rapidly unfolding fascist state where food and essentials are about to go through the roof and social credits means everyone here is only as wealthy as their good behavior provides.”

Exactly this. It’s extremely hard for me to be in groups of people that don’t really see what’s going on. It’s a bit crazy, I work at a land grand research university in a town full of very highly educated people, yet none of them see. My husband is a machinist, and nearly all of his friends, the blue collar, country folk around here who hunt and fish and work with their hands, they all do. And they are the dumb ones? We live in a topsy-turvy world, don’t we?

Looks like today gave me some time. Am I a horrible person for wanting to make it another 5 years to when I can retire from the grind? That said, I’m willing to die on this hill, I’ll not be coerced.

I too am at a state land-grant university surrounded by idiots/sheep. For 4 years before I moved here I worked at the #1 US Public Research University in the world (so they say) surrounded by idiots. It’s what finally really spooked me. It’s what made me see this was all planned and all bullshit.

Anyway, thanks for keeping me sane and strong for more than 10 years now. I have to admit, when covid first hit I was pretty worried about this blog, it’s been interesting watching it evolve from March 2020 to now.

Great news! UFC president Dana White is officially COVID-19 free … telling TMZ Sports he tested negative for the virus, and he’s crediting Joe Rogan’s suggested treatment plan of monoclonal antibodies, NAD drip, vitamins, and Ivermectin for the swift recovery.

oxymoron, thank you for that post. You are very brave. I often wonder,is it really that bad over there? It’s hard to know what’s real anymore.

My work is still preparing for the mandates, but not acting on them yet as the lawsuits are pending. At least there is that. They do keep reminding us we need our first shot now if we are going to make the 1/4 deadline.

It’s so strange at work, I’m so busy, I’m leading a large team and massive projects. They just hired me a year ago for this major transformation. I just keep moving forward and trying to pretend like this all isn’t happening, but I may just disappear in a few weeks! At the university they just reported a record number of students are failing their classes. This is a mid-sized land-grant research university in a red state that is more “normal” than most, yet the students and faculty and staff are silently losing it. And everyone feels it. I don’t think people can take much more, but I suppose that’s the point. Well, better get ready for work.

Mr House, I am so sorry. I too am just waiting for the date. I’ll certainly apply for an exemption, and I have a small group of people who will be applying as well (and are helping one another).

My state is part of the lawsuit, but they really have no balls. I have little hope.

I’ll not get vaccinated with this shit though, no matter what. This is it for me. They have gone too far. This IS the hill I will die on if necessary. What a nightmare.

I moved to this state as a refuge from what was going on in my extremely blue state that had (and has) gone off the rails. Yes, I have a support system here I didn’t have there. I am in management and and will be be expected to play a key role in rolling out the vaccine mandates. There are certainly some refugees fleeing the blue states to come here because of politics, but I have been shocked at the number that are bringing their politics here, especially at and around the University. There is definitely a majority (in town) that support mask and vaccine mandates. It certainly doesn’t help that we are right on the border of one of the worst blue states that has had quite a bit of press for firing high profile vax resisters at the University in that town.

Anyway, I’ll do my best. My management are all in on the vaccines as are most of my staff (one told me in a one on one that the unvaxxed should be left to die, that was fun).

Half the people here I am honest with, the other half I am terrified to let them know my opinions. That’s better than living in constant fear in my old state/job. The sad part is that many of the people resisting the vax will get vaxxed when their job is on the line.

    Kassandra,

Are they allowing religious/medical exemptions? Are you going to submit one?

Yes, I assume so, and yes I will submit one if they do. I am at a University in a red state in a blue town (surrounded by red). Unfortunately this state has a very large influx of people from blue states at the moment.

I too am still looking at mandates (and unemployment) as I also fall under the “government contracts” rule.

This is the week hundreds of thousands (millions?) learn of the rest of the mandates in the US. At my place of work word is supposed to go out sometime between today and Wednesday. I spent the weekend mentally preparing myself for unemployment in December. And as a 51 year old, an old age in poverty, if I live to “old age”.

We also start injecting millions of kids this week.

    God help us all.

I knew it would be bad starting in 2020, I spent 8 years preparing as best as I could. I never thought it would be this bad.

Will you be privy to the process they are using to cull those claiming religious or medical exemptions?

Yes, if there is one. I will be submitting a religious exemption myself with a request to wfh, we’ll see what happens.

Is your employee using an outside agency from DC to guide them?

Not at this time. I was just called into a meeting to discuss how to legally (because of ferpa and hipaa) collect the vaccine information.

I just found out I may be losing my job on December 8th because of the Federal mandates. I am in a very red state known for being a place people go for freedom. We are being called upon in IT to administer the collecting of data. I asked my boss “are they trying to start a civil war”?

I think the answer is yes.

“Masks, sanitizer, distancing, regular hand washing, and more sleep have all made a huge difference to me — like night and day.”

What if it was just people not going to work/out/school when they were sick, like people always should have been doing? I’ve worked in office building in a major city most of my life, people showed up sick for work all the time.

I used to get sick fairly regularly, but then started doing a better job washing my hands after my commute (a 30 minute commute on a subway in one of the biggest US cities). For several years I didn’t get sick after that. No masks, no sanitizer, no distancing, just became more aware of touching my face, and started washing my hands with soap when I got to the office, and after the bathroom, eating, going outside, etc. Reduced my sickness by 90%+.

Oh, I do know of a person who has had a “mystery illness” that no doctors can figure out. They have thought it’s a mystery allergy or something, but she doesn’t test as allergic to anything. I know it started around the time the vaccines were rolling out, and she is a hard core covidian, I have zero doubt that she was vaccinated as soon as she could be. But I do not feel comfortable asking our mutual friend when she was vaccinated and when she started getting sick. My friend is 92 years old tries to shame me into getting vaccinated every time we talk.

I have a pretty wide ranging group of contacts. I have worked for a company of 150k employees, and at the outset of covid was working at a University with 35k students, part of a system with hundreds of thousands of students and 250k staff. I now (since 1/2021) work at a university with 10k students in a red state.

I know of one death that was an official covid death. In late 2020 my friend’s brother died. He was in his 50s, severely disabled and bed ridden and thought to have very little time left to live. He was rushed to the ER/ICU for some other issue, caught covid in the hospital, and died.

I know of one person hospitalized very early on during the pandemic. He was in his late 50s and a heavy meth and heroin user (the brother of another friend). He was sick and intibated in the hospital, and survived. We now joke that meth cures covid. This is especially seems true since before we moved we were in an area with thousands of homeless on the streets living in filth, sharing crack pipes and needles and we’d joke that they were all somehow immune. I mean where are all the bodies?

During the vax roll-out the majority of people on my team of 20 (and my peers, of which there are 5) called in sick for a day to several days post vaccine. I don’t know anyone severely injured. I do now know of several people I work with or that are one step outside my direct circle that have come down with covid in the last two weeks. The vast majority (at least 80%) are vaccinated.

Hi All, I have been reading this blog since…well I’m not sure but definitely since the old days with Nicole – (2009? 10?). Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say reading this every morning keeps me sane. Ok well probably not sane, but keeps me from totally losing it. You also all inspired me to completely transform my life, walk away from my career (working in the belly of the beast) and $$ and head to a red state in 2020. Thank God.

Wanted to share this with everyone. I love Zero Anthropology and it was really sad to see Maximilian go all covid crazy, but hey, he woke up. Some good stuff here
