Gabbard makes some great points. how many refugees would be in Europe or coming to America if the CIA had stayed home and we did not have regime change. We may be better served by a wall to keep us in.

So Dr D. outside of immediate store of values food housing clothing. I guess the next level are things that let you keep what you have or protect against inflation, Solar panels lead iron garden land, the next level would be things that will have value to trade wine- food- gold – sliver. Real estate wont work your going to have to physically evict people with no money and because no one will have money it really wont matter. And gold and silver are iffy because you cannot eat or heat with them. The dollars feel like so much paper to me but I am struggling with how to store value. I can buy farmland but I cannot really defend it. Maybe a fishing boat or lobster traps but frankly every person around will be doing that.

Mark Carney rode Canada’s good economy to the Queen. THEY would like nothing better than digital currency then negative interest rates could go way negative. no way to find a mattress to hide the cash in -no cash. The bankers would make even more. For really the first time in my life I do not know how to preserve our meager savings. I know I do not want to give money to the banks and we buy things that will reduce future expenses. solar power green house. but where from here?

I was fortunate enough to work in manufacturing all my life. Started on the factory floor as a piecework operator and later a machinist 16 years mostly night shift learned skills and changed companies the next company reimbursed for college and I went to night school took 8 years to get a degree. Then I joined large corporate America. Here’s the point MBA’s are taught to maximize share holder value period. I eventually walked out because another plant was moved to Mexico and the vp of operations was holding the hourly workers to 1 % raises knowing that the move was coming. I worked side by side with these people and these hardworking people busted their ass every day and this asshole just lied and lied. I could have stayed would have been promoted but I just could not. He was making 30 times what they were and the company was extremely successful. Still is. — just heartless.

first what is with those feet? Hobbit?

Try an experiment. buy local as much as you can. Most food is pretty easy. Furniture is harder but possible if you can afford it. It takes work but look for a dehumidifier. there are several made in the usa hard to find but they are there they cost twice as much but last three times as long according to the reviews. Shipping so many items as resources and bringing back finished product is crazy. automation will do most of the underwear making anyway. So why not make them locally.

I hope you are wrong about Gabbard but I think you are correct. The DNC will shut her out and most of the people will not care. But we will. If Biden or Harris is the candidate we may stay home so will many others. After 4 more years of Trump. Gabbard will look pretty good. Maybe Gabbard should go Green or Libertarian. or like Canada form an NDP. Trump is the worst environmental president I can remember. But it seems like the Democrats and Republicans are owned and the rest of the world is getting tired of it. In hind site Jill Stein may have been the best choice.

Canadain health care for all its flaws is still a lot more efficient than the us and the doctors doctor. no insurance, no paper work, no bankrupcy for health issues, no bills, tiny admin department, no billing department. you get the idea. no parasites or at least fewer parasites. It has to cost less to focus on health care and not sick care. (another Gabbard point in the last debate)

They report that she is polling at 3% but who knows they are not counting the polls where she does better than 1.4. and almost 1/2 the respondents have never heard of her. I think if she can stay in the debates and in the media with her actual message and not the brutal treatment she is getting from the media. She may appeal to the masses. Maybe not. the interview from Colbert and the View were extremely bias for the never ending wars. I imagine ole Megan nearly had a seizure when Gabbard said regime change is bad. I wonder how many refugees would be in Europe and heading up from south America if the CIA just stayed home.

Gabbard is the dark horse who knows maybe she splits the Russian vote so we get a fair election. The DNC hate her so she gets my vote. keep her in for nothing else but getting the 5 trillion dollar forever wars in the public eye. If Biden is the chosen one many including me (for the first time) will stay home and Gabbard will look pretty good after 4 more years of Trump.

    What to do
Plant trees. add solar panels. buy local supplied food and products. The more people do the right thing the we can have have some altho small impact on the destruction. but the thing is these things are also a good investment we are happier, safer and wealthier for doing these thing. it is a win win

Our solar panels since april have supplied 5mwh they are paying way way way better than government bonds and are a safer investment.

Local grass fed beef, free range eggs, fresh caught fish and organically raise vegetables are changing the way we shop and eat. Grains are hard to find we still buy grains for the supermarket but we buy local fruit in season grow some of our own and have started to turn our yard into a forest garden.

a few more things stop using roundup and weed and feed on your yard and garden and farm. Stop buying from those that do. Factory meat feedlots use a variety of feeds that cause increased gas for cows grass fed cows make less methane make the switch to local grass fed humanely raised and killed animals and it does make a difference.

The first thing to do is stop voting for this idiot. I started with this but my wife talked me into starting with the important things that you can do now.

According to the main stream media and the dnc the only way we are going to get a fair election is to nominate Tulsi Gabbard that would split the Russian vote. and make the election fair. So I don’t understand why the DNC is fixing the polls so Gabbard can’t get in. I see the New rich guy is buying his way in so there is that. I am sure the young people and the 99% will be so inspired they will probably start a revolution to get him elected all those young voters supporting another rich old white guy. Perfect

The DNC is screwing with the polls I have no doubt it is the same bullshit they pulled with Bernie I have been posting the anti war message from Huffington post to the burning platform and I have to say that there are hundred and even thousands of supporting comments. I can not believe that the DNC will not let the debate continue. I don’t know if she would even make a good president but her being in the mix moves the window on anti war just as Bernie did on several issues. My wife and I are discussing not voting for the first time in our long lives. We strongly oppose what trump is doing to the environment but Biden wont change anything. The DNC needs to wake the fuck up. 1968 handed Nixon the prize -2016 handed trump the price 2020 – gonna hand it over to Trump again.

Dr D, I owe you an apology I was pretty tired when I read your comment and I misinterpreted it. You are correct we need to move to sustainable farming practices. I will say one thing it will not be quick two years ago I bought some straw for chicken bedding. after it served as bedding I put in on the garden and last year almost nothing grew, in the spot were the straw was, I did not realize that it was sprayed before I got it. this yearr the garden came back but not to the level it should be. 30 day half life my ass. at least Miami has banned round up. Miami for gods sake. but the rest of the west is paying a large and long price.

Dr D with all due respect and I do enjoy reading your comments. I do not think factory farms keep the price of food 20x lower. In fact the overall cost of poisioning the land and the oceans and transporting food across the world could be far more than the savings we think we are getting. The food system is broken. Lots of parasitic hand in that pot. Feed lots and factory farms are a crisis against anything near being humane. We can feed the world without destroying it.

We started purchasing as much food as we can locally from family farms . the cost is maybe 10% higher but the food is 50% better. Grains are certainly still an issue but less grains seems to be better for our health. My wife has suffered with stomach issues for years having a couple of surgerys and constant meds for stomach issues. We suspect the chemicals are to blame. Her stomach issues have been improving and I lost 6 lbs just in the last few months the only change being not buying factory meat and vegetables

As much as I support Tulsi Gabbard I think the empire has won that battle. It is a shame the war machine is just too strong.

Here is a running list of Trumps policy to destroy the environment. If you hunt fish garden farm walk out side breath eat or drink you have to care at least a little. Now he as removed the endangered species restrictions. and oked the use of cyanide bombs against wild life WTF

Raul was correct again. I am afraid that Gabbard has been shut down – regardless of the poll results she wont get the required 2% in four polls. But you are correct she speaks truth to power and if they cannot destroy her credibility they will stop her some other way. Trump is doing dramatic and incredible harm to the environment we may never be able to undo the damage he is doing and rewarding the idiot in brazil for decimating the amazon in crazy. but if they run Biden and its the same old bullshit I may skip voting for the first time in my adult life.

Still Solar Cells pay considerably better than a 30 year bond. — safer too

It took us way too long to move our food procurement to local organic farms the only thing is I wish we would have done it sooner.

The environment cannot handle four more years of Trump. Would be nice to see him reap what he has sown but the cost is far too high.

The book an omnivores dilemma is a good primer. Cows eat grass but to make more money we feed them grain and antibiotics. They have trouble digesting corn and all the other crap we feed them and make a lot more gas. Oh by the way eat the beef from a grass fed cow and the grain fed are a poor substitute in taste and health. I think I remember a commercial from maybe a fast food resturant about grain fed beef. what a lie. look to local family farms for your food it is possible and quite amazing really we now buy local beef , pork, eggs. fish. produce all from local growers and fishers. Most are young families looking to make sustainable future for there own kids. I would encourage you to find local family farms. it may cost 10 or 15 % more but the benefits are wonderful. We just made the switch about a month ago (we had a fairly full freezer of factory farm meat) and I know I feel better and have lost about 5 lbs. There is something there worthwhile.

I know many think there is some vast difference but it seems like both parties are owned, I was actually quite surprised to read the strong military and pro intervention on both sides of the aisle. If that is the case there really is no hope. The only chance is for a dark horse, It wont be Tulsi as I read now that the Russian hackers are helping her and we cannot go thru another Russia gate. Seriously someone has to spark the youth but there are no protest songs allowed. The democrats blew it in 68 too. The hardest part is knowing the huge problems we are facing and knowing that the resources to solve them are being squandered and misdirected. The media is maybe as culpable as the evil doers, Vietnam was protested at least partially because every day on many news broadcasts there were death counts. 2100 Viet cong killed 340 US troops killed everyone also listened to the same few radio stations and those stations played protest songs. I don’t know how that can even happen now. why would basically liberal minded people like Cobert and Whoopi Goldburg be pro war?

Gabbard “bring them all home within a year” Stop regime change. Stop the endless wars. The only vet on the stage. She flustered Harris, and her quotes was repeated in the morning news cycle but interestingly her name was not mentioned . She is the one they do not want in office and they do not want her message out. I will look at Williamson — too many candidates. Elections are all we have the only other option is certainly much more unpleasant. So if corporations use the government to control the country is that not Fascism?

John Day — Thank you could not agree more. The world is Mad. I don’t want to sound like a broken record ( it is what we had before digital music and some us still use them) But I think it is important for Tulsi Gabbard to stay in the race as long as possible. She has been slammed by the MSM – even Google shut down her site during the debate when her anti war speech at the last debate garnered the most searches. I did not even notice her until the Military warmongers and both the liberal and conservative media started bashing her. That got my attention. I heard it again today on the CBS news how we have to protect Americas interest with a strong military. Colbert and the View both dismissed her in interviews that America just has to have endless wars. If we stick to our own knitting (another thing from before the internet) We could actually solve some of the problems that we have.

We have done some homework and written to our elected officials about the glyphosate the response was that it was reviewed and approved. below is a portion of the email and more information.

    A personal solution
Because of the round up in everything, The factory farm system, The horror stories of the treatment and feeding of animals in the feed lots, the waste of transporting food across the world, antibiotics in meat and poultry and a variety of other reasons this last year we decided to purchase the vast majority of our food from local farms. It took some work to find the people that sell directly but they are out there. We found local sources of organic vegetables, beef, pork, eggs, fish. Some items are less and some are more but all in all we pay about 10% more. The food looks and tasted better. We could not be happier with this decision.

Here is a portion of the email sent to our government officials. We are in a fishing community hence the ocean focus.

    1. Glyphosate is a weed killer and is stronger when in the ocean
because it has a salt base. Plankton and coral reefs are the bottom
    of the ocean ecological pyramid.,

    2. At the current time we are losing many species of plants animals
and insects. While Glyphosate may not be wholly responsible it at
    least plays a role. .

    3. Glyphosate has now been found to be a cancer causing agent.

    4. Five countries have already banned it to get ahead of future lawsuits.
Even Miami banned it. Miami for Gods sake !

Here is some reading on the subject this is only a miniscule sampling
of the evidence and papers available.

This is an excellent article that explains the miss from health Canada

    https://www.theglobeandmail.com/canada/article-canada-dead-wrong-to-allow-use-of-weedkiller-glyphosate-american/

    https://permaculturenews.org/2012/11/01/why-glyphosate-should-be-banned-a-review-of-its-hazards-to-health-and-the-environment/

    https://www.naturalnews.com/2017-09-30-five-countries-have-banned-glyphosate-in-the-wake-of-recent-lawsuits.html

    Effect on Oceans:

Why is glyphosate’s run-off so deadly to our oceans? Glyphosate’s
half-life, or the rate at which it breaks down, is dramatically longer
in the ocean than in fresh water. This is because glyphosate is a salt
and in the presence of ocean salts it acts as a preservative. Even
worse, it gathers strength over time leading to massive plankton and
aquatic die-off. Unfortunately, this news is not being reported.
The studies say: “The half-life for glyphosate at 25°C in low-light
was 47 days, extending to 267 days in the dark at 25°C and 315 days in
the dark at 31°C, which is the longest persistence reported for this
    herbicide.”

loved the video I understand the batteries will not work in the giant hauls trucks – A couple of thoughts We should be using fossil fuels where they are the only thing that will work. not in lawn mowers and gas guzzling suvs and to my earlier point not to haul beans thousands of miles to put then in a can and ship them back. there just has to be a better way. the second thought is batteries are sometimes not needed I lived in Chicago and they had the elevated electric train that went all over the city. I am just saying there are out of box solutions that smarter people than me could figure out. People know the resource is limited and critical to our existence yet it seems like we as a people are not focused on solutions. The main reason is that the solution is too big for a corporation to profitably address. To Jim Knustlers point in the long emergency, We may have to get closer to your video and out of the suburban style drive everywhere life style.

Nuclear Energy is fundamentally flawed in the low opportunity very high loss risk assessment. I think in terms of what to do in 10000 years they think smarter people and technology will fix it but in fact IQs are getting lower every decade.

I am struggling with the concept that renewables cannot impact fossil fuels. I understand the sun does not alway shine. We purchased solar panels this year and from a purely financial standpoint I could not be happier.  The payout is way more than  double the payout with a 30 year bond at the current yield  And what could be a lower risk investment. I know there are a lot of anti solar arguments but the fact is that solar panels can generate enough power to reduce coal and fossil fuels. Unless I am missing something I think if every suitable home had roof top solar there would be so much power that less efficient methods for storage will still work. heat and turbines. flywheel or some other method beyond my understanding. If we stop wasting the oil that is left we should have enough to continue to make renewables.
I agree that the cluster**** we made out of oil as energy makes the unknown risks of low cost power scary. I dont understand the laws of thermodynamics as well as I should but I think you are saying that the effects are unknown. And given the propensity of greed in human nature a high risk at that.

I agree Raul the last drop of oil will be wasted trying to kill someone over the last drop of oil.

Waste is part of the system but it seems to be most of the system now.

On another website there was an argument that we would never reduce the amount to fossil fuel and would have to build 3 billion electric cars.

We should not build 3 billion electric cars. We should change the way we think about moving people and things.  We do not need to ship a container of beans to china so they can put it in a can and ship it back. everyone does not need to drive a SUV.  I certainly don’t know but maybe we can use technology  to a point where travel is a pod that links to other pods forms a train so the power used is a magnitude less.
There is greedy vested interest in keeping the oil flowing. I realize without oil the world population would likely be 1/2 of what is or less. frankly we could use 1/2 the oil we are using and be just as happy it would just be different.
I cant speak to the green new deal  I have not read it. but there should be a plan and people thinking outside the status quo to find solutions. There should be incentives to adopt a cleaner more renewable lifestyle.
Just like the system of railroads, highways, the space program, the public library system. and heath care in most developed  countries.  The solutions are too big for private companies to deliver and still make a profit.
It is undeniable that the environment is suffering in big and profound ways because of the way we choose to live. the factory farms, the never ending wars that make a few rich and the rest of us poor or dead, the oil lobby and lobbyist in general that will eventually destroy democracy. The overwhelming waste in the system.  I am quite sure if there are future generations they will think us quite a selfish generation.

solar panels are a better investment than 30 yr bonds. -safer too.

Do you think the barrel of oil today is more or less valuable then the a barrel of oil when the world is almost out.? The last country with oil wins???

Do you think a healthcare system that has doctors and support staff cost more or less than a healthcare system that has insurance companies, administrators, billing and collection departments, lobbyist, attorneys and other parasitic waste in the system?

So tired of the way both parties are servants to the greedy war dogs imagine what we could do with all those trillions. The Dems really need to pull it together. Maybe they will wake up and actually let Gabbard run a campaign . Trump looks like the princes lap dog in his veto of the Saudi arms deal. One of the few things that both the house and senate agree on is not selling arms to Saudi. Yet here’s Trump actually using a veto to keeping the slaughter machine going.
