As for the last two comments, one would hope that people use their lockdown time to think about exactly those questions: what are the good things we can take away from this. But before you say: fewer cars, less pollution, do realize that those are the things that keep our economies afloat. And all those birds I hear singing all the time all of a sudden do not.
the economic model we had was not sustainable. One of the things I was going to say in my earlier post was that we could build things better. The concept of built in obsolescence should be stopped. I actually sat in meeting where people brainstormed ways to make a product last one month past the warranty period. I have a 1956 farmall tractor that runs almost as good at it did 63 years ago. In that 63 years we have made advancements and we have whiz bang cell phones but think about the 63 years before that tractor was built. I know I will take heat but the green Idea and putting people to work on projects that make sense for both the advancement of society and mother nature make sense. local small family farms, transportation that makes sense – electric – fuel cell – automated. and stop making junk that has to be replaced in a short time.
We have to value more than money.I am having a very hard time with the biden trump choice so I spent some time looking at the green and libertarian party and found a couple interesting canidates. Jesse Ventura said he would run for the green party and that would make an interesting debate. then I found Vermin Supreme libertarian and said to myself hell he couldnt be any worse than the others so why not. At the end of the day I may be writing in Gabbard.

I agree with Kimyo99: Trump may or may not be an outsider and he is correct on a few items but he has been absolutely horrible to the environment and his obsession with undoing Obama is crazy. and costly some of the departments he eliminated may have made a real difference if he had listened to them. He is a distraction and a dupe as far as I can tell. The .1% love him The war mongers love him and the lobbiest love him. He is a man of low integrity when the opposite is needed. To Wes’s point that is not to say that Biden is better he is also a man of low integrity and may be even a worse warmonger. The country needs a real leader. Gabbard seemed to have merit but the elite wanted no part of that and crucified her.

Solar power is awesome. We have had our system for 1 year this month and have generated over 10mw of power. On the same amount of money in treasuries we would have generated about 10% of that in cash. like getting a monthly t bond coupon.

As I am typing this the Canadian news is on the the minister of infrastructure is on. She is preparing Canada for quickly getting people back to work after the pandemic. – She is researching FDR’s shovel ready program. and working with the provinces and cities to establish projects to get people back to work. For a facemask why would’nt people just use a half face 3m respirator. I worked in a battery plant for years and wore one 10-12 hours at a time. does not fog up your glasses. p95 and p100 filters are available. Much better at filtration much more comfortable than a paper mask. Easy to check fitment to make sure it is working correctly (block filters and breath in.) I hated the paper masks when I traveled to other plants. and the paper masks do not fit well, are uncomfortable and fog up eye wear.

a couple of years ago we bought a bidet seat – paid for itself in less than 6 months. Some of them even come with blowers. My wife cuts up old towels to wipe the water off. we now have them on every toilet. rarely buy toilet paper anymore. A 60.00 bidet will pay for itself in no time. I really dont know why more people dont use them. that really goes for heat pumps and solar panels too. Heat pumps save a ton of money even the guy who used to supply our firewood has one now. and solar panels vs < 1% government bond WTF our first year in we saved $2300 on a 16000 investment.

Battery assembly mid 90s – a 5 person line could assemble 500 batteries a shift by the mid 2000s automation a 3 person line could make 2000. 80% of the labor force is no longer needed. — what do you do with all the people left over? That said work is important to the ego. People without work often find themselves with other issues(opium and alcohol for example). For most of us our minds need to be occupied. There is a lot that could be done to improve the current reality. Have you have ever been to some of the parks built by the CCC and the work done by the WPA during the depression. Now it could be solar panels on government buildings and more green new deal things. . Not sure where I stand on it but keeping people working and the pride that comes from accomplishment and earning a paycheck means a lot. The other alternative is we could teach people to enjoy learning and exploring and be self motivated. not sure how to do that even with myself some days. sorry for the rambling I know what is currently happening with 1% owning so much is not sustainable. The revolution will happen it can be Bernies or it can be something far less civilized and the rich have no one to blame but themselves (you get a tax cut and you get a tax cut.)
