    Trumps latest news conference to steady the markets. He is obviously listening to Pence. paraphrased but really really close — its going to be like a miracle and just disappear” It may get worse for a little while or it may disappear nobody knows. So is he admitting that the policy for dealing with the virus is a miracle

    I for one feel much better now.

    Mike Pence – the guy who does not believe in science. Really? does he believe in the existence of viruses? I would not feel secure in that appointment. Really Mike Pence in charge of communication and defense against the virus. Prepare to get your information thru an interesting filter. The press conference with Trump and the cdc was hilarious every point trump made was completely countradicted by the CDC doctors on the same stage

    Sadly, their culture is now one of dependency.

    Yeah, we might be headed that way too, except can the natives support us?

    I agree mishandled from start to finish . Even if they could would they?

    I hope we have a different future. We would have to start making changes soon.

    Do you think that after the virus has run it course and the 45 million uninsured not to mention the millions of underinsured that do not seek medical treatment and become carriers, spread the virus far and wide even the republicans will support medicare for all.

    I realize many people cannot get to a farm or know how to find a farmer willing to sell direct. even under the best of circumstances It takes some work. We have been seriously poor in our lives and lived for a time on turkey eggs which the local farmers sold 6 dozen egg flats for a dollar. We are still quite frugal We almost never eat out. do not own a working cell phone, but we also have no debt. For the most part people are poor through no fault of their own but some small part of it is choice. In our current circumstance the meat is cheaper than the grocery store. Only one person needs to make a profit. We have lived rural and urban and living rural has some advantages one of which is access to better food. We are blessed. My only thought is that we have excepted the Walmart, factory farms and Amazon embraced them even.I am as guilty of this as anyone. The thing is how do we stop supporting companies and practices that we now know are damaging. The only thing I can think of is those that can should.

    How many test kits in Africa? How many people are being tested 3-4 times to make sure a negative is a negative. Good luck putting the Genie back in the bottle. Ready or not here it comes.

    Trumps is doing so much damage to the environment. Anyone would be better.
    But he does not have the entire market on money over everything else. Young Justin learned some stuff.

    To V Arnolds point yesterday
    The factory farm model is seriously flawed. the world with chemically raised food is a huge threat to the health of people now and in the future, as those chemicals do not disappear, not to mention the potential to spread disease at a tremendous rate. Feed lots that feed animals any available low cost filler and then fill them with antibiotics because the feed is making the animals sick. Antibiotics don’t work as well because we are eating them in our food.

    I urge anyone to try buying beef that has been raised humanely and fed what cows are meant to eat (grass) best if you can actually go to the farm to get it. Grass fed beef from a supermarket is not the same thing. Huge difference in taste and my personal experience is that I feel much better after making the switch. It all matters. how the animal is raised and how it is killed. Cows that are lined up and killed one after another are so full of adrenaline that the meat is effected. Best not to eat meat but if your going to eat meat do the right thing.

    It is in the hands of the consumer. If we keep buying the factory farm crap they will keep selling it to you.

    If the russians were behind the Iowa caucus dont you think Clintons accused russian agent would have at least 1 delegate. Think DNC not KGB the .1% wall street and lobbyist are not fans of progressives.

    We just got an email from our niece, the local news is reporting 4 more cases being monitored for the virus in Dane county Wisconsin. Wisconsin is one of the last places to have the first case. It would be interesting to see the number of cases being monitored.

    2 days to get caucus numbers it is obvious to me that bernie is getting burned again. Wall street and the elite do not want a Bernie president. the dnc does not want bernie or gabbard or warren they do not want a well a democrat they want Clinton not Johnson. and lets face it the pendulum has swung too far and we need a liberal democrat the income inequality will not stand not for ever either politically or thru revolution it will change.
    shutting down the worlds most populated country for a flu – either it is much worse that 30000 people much deadlier than 500 people or it is a distraction slight of hand for something we are not seeing

    The msm and the Clinton machine hate her — all the more reason to support her. The idea that we should not be supporting a religious state by spending trillions and trillions of our USA dollars and killing our USA youth not to mention all the innocent middle eastern people. The money that is being made on death for the elite will make sure Tulsi never really sees the light of day.. I really dont have much hope left for the empire anymore.

    Maybe Bernie will figure out that the independent voters like her and pick her as a running mate.

    I greatly respect Raul and this is one of only two sites I rely on for news. both political parties are really really corrupt. the lobbyist and military run the country. Trump is a terrible president but he knows he wont live long enough to reap what he is sowing. His environmental policies alone are horrible.
    https://www.nationalgeographic.com/news/2017/03/how-trump-is-changing-science-environment/
    the democratics are completely missing the message. No one is going to get fired up about Biden and the impeachment is stupid. the only person who made any sense in that debacle was Gabbard.

    Just a rambling thought.
    I have an 80 + year old neighbor sharp as a tack but I would not want him to be president.. There should be a max age as well as a minimum age. A president should have the live long enough to see the mess they made. If your smart and you live long enough to make it to 70 you have to be smart enough not to want that job. If you do want it at that age you probably should not have it. I know at 62 I was more capable at 50 and maybe even at 40 .

    I understand people are pissed off. The MBAs gutted middle America with factory farms in the 70s and 80s and moving manufacturling first to the southern states then to mexico then to asia. the computer and technology advancements take manufacturing jobs out in vast numbers and service jobs are next cashiers and drivers are close to being eliminated. The MBA across the world were taught the same lessons– cost reduction no matter what the cost. but you cannot put the Genie back in the bottle. technology caused the great depression, a tractor could do the work of 20 men,. and it will cause the next one (already did in 2008 we just fired up the printing press to wallpaper over it.)

    Trump is an old fool he is trying, very poorly, to make changes we talked about on the factory floor in the early 1980s. That Genie is not going to fit back in the bottle .but we could make the genie dance. the whole country could have solar panels if we decided to stop blowing up brown people for a few years. we could look to a future that the next generation to be born would be proud of. (its not coal) we could stop poising the planet with roundup and plastics. you get the idea we could chose to do the right things. You know start to leave it better than we found it.

    In her own words
    REP. TULSI GABBARD (D-HI): That our Democratic Party, unfortunately, is not the party that is of, by, and for the people. It’s the–it is a party that has been and continues to be influenced by the foreign policy establishment in Washington represented by Hillary Clinton and others foreign policy, by the military-industrial complex and other greedy corporate interests. I’m running for president to be the Democratic nominee that rebuilds our Democratic Party, takes it out of their hands, and truly puts it in the hands of the people of this country, a party that actually hears the voices of Americans who are struggling all across this country, and puts it in the hands of veterans and fellow Americans who are calling for an end to this ongoing Bush-Clinton-Trump foreign policy doctrine of regime change wars, overthrowing dictators in other countries, needlessly sending my brothers and sisters in uniform into harm’s way to fight in wars that actually undermine our national security and have cost us thousands of American lives.

    These are wars that have cost us as American taxpayers trillions of dollars since 9/11 alone, dollars that have come out of our pockets, out of her hospitals, out of our schools, out of our infrastructure needs. As president, I will end this foreign policy, and these regime change wars, work to end this new Cold War an arms race, and instead invest our hard earned taxpayer dollars actually into it serving the needs–

    PARKER: –Thank you–
    GABBARD: –Of the American people–

    PARKER: –Thank you, Congresswoman–

    GABBARD: –Right here at home.
    Enough said.

    the trillions of dollars spent on stupid wars could pay for Solar panels and heat pumps
    none of it may matter but it may be one of the few time when doing something is better than doing nothing.

    IThe question is: Does it matter any longer who is in office?

    dont know if it matters the military money machine is so huge that it will probably overwhelm anyone and everyone. But what is the alternative. The wars and the corporate welfare will bankrupt the American empire as virtually all previous empires have ended. Anyone can see that it does not have to be that way. If what you are doing is not working try anything else. At lease Gabbard will keep talking about the wars and the corruption. Just calling out Hillary as a warmonger and Harris as a Devilish DA is worth sending her a few bucks in my opinion

    Have to disagree with RT on this one. There maybe money being made going green but look at all the money made in not. Organic food makes sense the level of pollution and soil destruction is incalculable. Plastics are everywhere and the impact of them is also incalculable. We clean up 500 ft of beach several times a year and get a ton of plastic from a low population area. Solar makes tons of sense as long as there is one coal / nuclear plant making power on your grid. We installed our panels in April and have not had a power bill since. The current subsidies to oil companies alone would pay for a good portion of the transition. Once you truly look at the way our food and energy systems work you can see the insanity of the current system. Not to mention we waste millions of tons of food because the cauliflower may be a little green colored or a carrot may not be straight. insantity.

    Dr D got me remembering and the whole thing is worth printing
    Desiderata
    Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
    and remember what peace there may be in silence.
    As far as possible without surrender
    be on good terms with all persons.
    Speak your truth quietly and clearly;
    and listen to others,
    even the dull and the ignorant;
    they too have their story.

    Avoid loud and aggressive persons,
    they are vexations to the spirit.
    If you compare yourself with others,
    you may become vain and bitter;
    for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.
    Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.

    Keep interested in your own career, however humble;
    it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.
    Exercise caution in your business affairs;
    for the world is full of trickery.
    But let this not blind you to what virtue there is;
    many persons strive for high ideals;
    and everywhere life is full of heroism.

    Be yourself.
    Especially, do not feign affection.
    Neither be cynical about love;
    for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment
    it is as perennial as the grass.

    Take kindly the counsel of the years,
    gracefully surrendering the things of youth.
    Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.
    But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.
    Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.
    Beyond a wholesome discipline,
    be gentle with yourself.

    You are a child of the universe,
    no less than the trees and the stars;
    you have a right to be here.
    And whether or not it is clear to you,
    no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

    Therefore be at peace with God,
    whatever you conceive Him to be,
    and whatever your labors and aspirations,
    in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.

    With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams,
    it is still a beautiful world.
    Be cheerful.
    Strive to be happy.

    — Max Ehrmann, 1927

    Well there are many parks and roads and public lands that were built by the ccc and the wpa. Probably better than people starving in the streets. And I think you are correct John for lack of a better term we are facing the fourth turning and corruption and manipulation of our corporations and governments have reached the point where the greed will become our undoing. the media has become babel and to Rauls point the hero’s are silenced. There is no longer a collective consciousness in journalism so even if Ali or Brando did talk his words would be lost in the babel of the fake news information age. By the time his words were repeated and massaged he would appear to be an insane person. Too much boxing for the old boy wouldn’t you say? Why Mr Brando has appeared to lose his mind over having a wounded knee or something. I am afraid for the future of what we have become/ I want to believe that we are capable of solving the problems of the future and we are but not if a few greedy people control the means to solve them . On another more positive note our solar panels have produced 6 MWH since april 18th Our all electric for our home and small shop has been supplied and our power bill for the last 2 months in negative 92 dollars. way better than money in the bank. but as we sit here right at this very moment there is a power outage and my grid tied system leaves us sitting in the quiet of no power while generating 6.7 kwh of electricity every hour that goes nowhere. just came back on

    I don’t know if it is true about Gabbard it does not really matter. I know the DNC will not let her into the debates. She cannot speak to the forever wars without media coverage and cash. Disappointing and sad that our political parties are so rotten. The election is a long way off and all of these voices should have a place until the convention . But what do I know. I was a quality engineer and manager for years and there is an adage in quality that you will get the level of quality you accept. What is a qualifying poll look it up I cannot find it. and there are over 160000 people who believe in her anti war message so a poll of 400 people matter more and there were only 2 qualifying polls after the second debate and she got over 2% in 26 polls but the dnc did not count those the dnc sucks the best candidates are not going to be in the race and that will hand it to trump which may be what the war mongering democratic party wants.
