perhaps the subplot of Agent Smith wanting to convert everything into himself, to look out into the universe and see only himself, is instructive as well.

constituting 25%+ of total post by post-count at times for instance.

Subtracting out embedded or cut&pasted videos & news articles, as of right now, one individual has posted 3,800 words today

EVERYONE ELSE taken together has posted a total of approximately 6,250 words as of my count (factoring out pasted news, quotes, etc)

3,800/10,050 words – about 38% of all conversation

Cool stuff to say, sure, yes, yes. All the more reason, then, to give the bang per buck ratio a bit of thought. Especially when one’s abilities are more than sufficient to improve that ratio. …the point of posting being that others will want to, will willingly, read what one has said rather than scrolling past.

Re: the people saying AFTER the Milgram experiment, that they went ahead with the shocks because they knew it was fake.

Remember that 90’s comedian who did a hilarious bit about the Alanis Morisssette song “Ironic”? …about how the only thing ironic about the song is this woman singing about irony while not understanding it?

Alanis began publicly claiming this was INTENTIONAL, that yes, I was being purposely ironic in exactly that way. Sure, Morissette, sure.

These models have proven themselves wrong more often than right. The banter here, back and forth on the climate issue is based on these models, both ways.

You mean… I put down MY The Science™, he puts down HIS The Science™, and we wrestle each other, like civilized people?

    Into the breach again…

    Ice Ages

1.) Does it look like it is going to get warmer or colder in the time frame of tomorrow-2000 years from now?

2.) Do you see where it was 10 degrees warmer than it is now?

3.) Isn’t getting warmer than it is now a runaway unstoppable feedback loop?

4.) How did it get way, way colder and glaciate again?

5.) Do you see how the same cycle keeps happening?

6.) Did you know we are on cycle 40? FORTY? With the same type of pattern?

7.) What specifically is going to stop this SCIENTIFICALLY discovered cycle?

8.) How specifically have you determined that human activity is more powerful than the entire planetary, possibly solar, possibly galactic climate?

9.) Why is re-glaciation preferable to a somewhat warmer environment, when SCIENCE shows that such an environment, STABLE, warmer, with more CO2, supports more plants and all of the life (herbivores, carnivores, omnivores) that are part of its ecosystem? If more cold, less CO2, less plants, and less animals is preferable, please explain.

10.) Do you have arguments AGAINST SCIENCE other than:
    A.) Accusations of maximum evil/profane-ness
B.) Superlative adjectives? Horrific? Disasterous? Shall we have a competition of adjectives?
C.) Cherry picked time frames, citing an average from the arbitrary start time rather than acknowledging sea ice (not to mention the polar bear population) has increased recently?

11.) Where did the Vostok Ice Cores touch you?

(And yes, I’m throwing a haymaker in the interests of openness and honesty. Rather than a vague aside, a brief moral put-down, instead of “starting a conversation” as a bad faith actor, here’s an honest to god argument. I’ve lurked on and off on Automatic Earth since, idunno, 2009? [got there from LATOC] and I’ve seen a lot of posters here that I like, respect, and agree with on many things do this weird aside, just little moral pinprick, or admonishing the website owner for not making a Confession Of Faith. It’s weird. So let’s not “start a conversation,” let’s have an argument. Hopefully not a fight, but an honest argument)

‘If the next 75,000-100,000 years are likely to be increasingly MUCH COLDER, why worry about warming it up?’

How about because the rapid overheating that is taking place right now will render most of the Earth uninhabitable for most extant life forms (including humans) by mid-century and the lead-up to uninhabitability -especially the period 2025 to 2045- will absolutely horrific.

We’re 17,000 years into our interglacial. Look at the chart and you will see that it went TEN DEGREES warmer and STILL went glacial after about that time frame.

Why do you assume you can control the climate? On what specific basis?

‘November 2022 compared to previous years

The downward linear trend in November sea ice extent over the 45-year satellite record is 51,800 square kilometers (20,000 square miles) per year, or 4.8 percent per decade relative to the 1981 to 2010 average. Based on the linear trend, since 1978, November has lost 2.28 million square kilometers (880,000 square miles). This is equivalent to 1.5 times the size of Alaska.

Figure 3. Monthly November ice extent for 1979 to 2022 shows a decline of 4.8 percent per decade.

    https://nsidc.org/arcticseaicenews/

You’re picking where to start and averaging it out over all the years to ignore that sea ice has INCREASED recently.

And again, within the same approximate amount of interglacial time, you can see the CLIMATE going back into a GLACIAL PERIOD despite having been TEN DEGREES WARMER.

    will absolutely horrific

instead of citing quasi moralistic quasi religious magic terms, please specify.

Do you expect a TEN DEGREE increase? Explain why OUR ten degree increase would be “horrific” and recent past ones were not?

Please explain previous predictions that it would be “HORRIFIC” RIGHT NOW AND SEVERAL YEARS AGO

Please explain why climate “scientists” have meddled with data, models, etc – ie LIED. Why did they need to do that?

They lied before. And the horrific time period previously predicted is past. Please explain specifically how we know they are not lying NOW.

Please explain how these Predictions Of Horrific differ from predictions of the End Of Days calculated by various religious whackos. Please explain how specifically we tell the difference.

….the posters of this kind of misinformation will keep posting misinformation until they can’t…a bit like the nutcases who declare that Ukraine is winning in its dispute with Russai over the cold-blooded murder of Russian-speaking people (and others), and also a bit like the cabal of psychotic, fascistic, totalitarian sociopaths who….

..and were the Vostok Ice Cores misogynistic racist antivaxxers on top of all that perhaps? Was a hitler mustache found to be clinging to the 350,000yr stratum when it was pulled out or something?

boscohorowitz, as far as “stop the hate,” that’s the mode that has been tried increasingly for decades now.

It reminds me of the recent Amazon “lord of the rings” fiasco, where into not-Galadriel, not-Elrond, and not-Gil-Galad’s mouths, their hack not-writers stuff pronouncements of how fighting evil makes everything eviler and worserer.

Tolkien understood how evil engages in doublespeak. The Orc torturing Frodo in Cirith Ungol yelling up to his cell about how he must be “up to something” as if HE’s the criminal. Or the Mouth of Sauron before the Morannon, speaking to the Captains of the West as if they are underhanded rebellious scumbags.

It does not follow that because orcs and evil sorcerers pretend to be righteous, that He Who Smelt It Always Dealt It.

In the soy and prozac infused “hate has no home here” world of today that enables and supports evil, demonstrably, with a track record of decades, I completely appreciate someone who holds and shows some legitimate anger at evil, especially with some panache, as some of our posters have.

…and funny, those times we see on the chart where temps are almost 10 degrees warmer than now

We all know as Established Science that getting warmer is an irresistible runaway feedback loop that leads to the end of absolutely everything. So we should be seeing the Earth turning into Venus as of 340,000 years ago and 125,000 years ago at the very least.

Which way do you think temperature will irresistibly head in the future?

    null

and by “coming off an ice age” I mean the little one in the 1800’s

    Little Ice Age

    https://www.usgs.gov/faqs/how-long-can-we-expect-present-interglacial-period-last

How long can we expect the present Interglacial period to last?
No one knows for sure. In the Devils Hole, Nevada paleoclimate record, the last four interglacials lasted over ~20,000 years with the warmest portion being a relatively stable period of 10,000 to 15,000 years duration. This is consistent with what is seen in the Vostok ice core from Antarctica and several records of sea level high stands. These data suggest that an equally long duration should be inferred for the current interglacial period as well. Work in progress on Devils Hole data for the period 60,000 to 5,000 years ago indicates that current interglacial temperature conditions may have already persisted for 17,000 years.

Whether looking at the shorter or longer term temperature wobbles, I haven’t been convinced the forces causing those wobbles are weaker than human activity.

And the downward cycles seem to last for about 100,000 years – and look where we are (top graph) We’re going to be able to stop that, will we?

Stopping it for the purpose of… going ahead with a new glacial period?!?!? Uh, why?

What was the reason we were hand wringing, educating, and informing? Was it our concern for humanity? How does re-glaciation help humanity? Assuming we could even stop it with our activity.

    Glaciation 2

We might start a massive downward temperature trend today or it could take a few thousand years. So let’s Stop Oil Now, so we can freeze right now and not miss it?

If the next 75,000-100,000 years are likely to be increasingly MUCH COLDER, why worry about warming it up? we are, on a geological time scale, an instant away from another ice age. Look at the chart. What IF there’s a warming effect. Look at where we are headed.

An interesting comment from the article I referenced:

“For 500 million years after the Late Paleozoic Ice Age, temperatures were higher than today, and CO2 was TRIPLE today’s level.

Before the Late Paleozoic Ice Age the only life were invertebrates, and single celled organisms.

But after the Late Paleozoic all plants and animals, Dinosaurs and eventually we developed.

Then 2.5 Million Years ago the Earth Cooled into the current, and on-going, Quaternary Ice Age. Sometimes, in the Quaternary, it warms and ice temprarily retreats in an Interglacial, due mainly to Milankovich cycles of the Earth’s orbit. Today is part of the 40th Inter-Glacial.

    Today’s Interglacial is unusually long.

The ENTIRETY of the Global Warming edifice rests on the idea that permanently emerging from the Quaternary Ice Age is less desirable than returning to another glaciation.

That is the ENTIRETY of the point climate science has made.

TOTALLY IRRESPECTIVE of how warming was achieved is the question whether it would be better for life to be warmer with more CO2 or whether it would be better for life if it were colder with less CO2.

And fossil evidence UNEQUIVOCALLY says that if you are a plant, or anything in the same food chain as plants, then warmer with more CO2 is better.”

    top zerohedge comment:
“The other 6 took the jab!”

Why will humans stopping their activities stop a warm-up off of an ice age?

Did it stop all the other warm-ups from all the other ice ages in the past millions of years?

…because humans were totally refraining from industrial activity all those many other times, and the world still warmed up.

Could simply continuing industrial civilization stop an ice age? No? Why would that be?

“The problem is not elemental nitrogen (N2), but rather the various oxides (NOX) that are formed when nitrogen fertilizer oxidizes. It is a very potent greenhouse gas.”

Ok but here’s the problem I have with that.

it starts with “Science tells us that gas XYZ has ___ properties and has been found to behave ____ way. This fits our criteria of Greenhouse Gas that we thought of.”

“we presume there is massive human caused Global Warming. We already decided this has to be because of greenhouse gas. We know what’s happening and we know the cause, now we just need to start finding all the things that match up with our cause”

“THEREFORE, irrefutably gas XYZ is CAUSING Global Warming and is bad”

This is like every religious argument I ever got into in my life.

The choplogic jump from Gas with ___ properties, WE decided to call these properties Greenhouse Gas, We decided massive human caused warming is definitely happening, we decided it is because Greenhouse Gasses CAUSE global warming, ergo, XYZ is CAUSING Global Warming”

The mere categorization being created and applied somehow proves massive human-caused global warming AND that thing XYZ “causes” it. XYZ gas exists, doesn’t it? And our definition of Greenhouse Gas applies to it, doesn’t it? Ergo massive human caused Global Warming exists, ergo XYZ is causing it.

If it were real, such underhanded, sneaky, choplogic-y abuse of language would not be necessary.

If it were real, we wouldn’t keep hearing about “scientists” abusing the scientific method, faking data, manipulating models, etc in the name of “fighting global warming.”

If it were real, we wouldn’t be seeing people argue the point on a totally religious type basis, moralistic, demanding no questioning, demanding no examination, no doubt, no double checking

If it were real, it wouldn’t be protected by massive, all encompassing censorship, destruction of careers, etc.

If it were real, then we’d see practical, easy, common sense solutions being tried and we wouldn’t see self-defeating non solutions that make things worse being tried on a massive basis.

And if it were real, humanity-wide humiliation, suffering, and death would not somehow be the overarching obsessive solution. If we aren’t concerned with the welfare of humanity as the underpinning motive for “fighting global warming” and are obsessed instead with its opposite? What? We’re now telling children grade after grade their existence is an evil offense against the universe, that’s fine right? Are we concerned for HUMANITY in terms of gradual global warming, therefore we will DEFINITELY starve and freeze right NOW?

I’m sorry, but I don’t give a damn at this point about wandering around in the weeds over “scientific” minutia. They are going to have to overtly, publicly, repeatedly, walk ALL OF IT back and then start over bearing the burden of proof from scratch if they want me to give them another minute of courtesy after decades of this.

“but by our own arbitrarily created self recursive criteria, there definitely is massive human caused global warming! it *exists* within our language-construct! by definition! OUR definition!” After 20 years of increasingly mad/malevolent antiscience, suicide pods, eat the bugs, no. just no.

Start over from scratch with obsequious apologetic courtesy and respect towards anyone who might be listening, having removed the devoutly religious anti science censorship.

Questioning the science IS the science. I don’t believe a word until science comes back.

Looking at a temperature chart, I can see we’re coming off a cold period. I can see what temperatures have tended to be for millions of years. Millions. What the #%#^ makes someone think the titanic forces that tend to bring the world to its scientifically verified TYPICAL overall temperature can be resisted? What makes someone think you can halt post ice age warming? Can you jump out of windows and waive the law of gravity as well?

And what makes people think the titanic forces that keep the world from heating PAST a certain level can be overwhelmed by human activity? Temperature charts on TV in the summer showing colors indicating entire continents must be on fire. Quasi activists everywhere “educating and informing” that it is an immanent “firestorm”

20 years of the intellectual equivalent of kicking you in the crotch over and over while insulting your mother while pretending to be Joan of Arc. There SHOULD be some outraged rejection at this point.

Don’t farmers plant giant fields of alfalfa to pull nitrogen out of the atmosphere and into the soil? But they’re going to put the farmers out of business and stop using that land for farming???

Since you can drive the entire world batty enough to inject themselves with poison, wear useless paraphernalia in ways contraindicated by the written instructions that CAME with it, and generally believe crazy things, couldn’t you, I don’t know, drive the entire world so batty that they want to plant all their lawns with a nitrogen fixer instead of grass? Get all those municipalities and HOA’s to stop stopping people from doing that? Since they got everyone to be crazier at greater expense, yes, obviously yes with metaphysical level certainty.

Wouldn’t more be accomplished by getting people unreasonably, self righteously, mouth frothingly enthusiastic about passive solar heating and planting trees? Picking up garbage in the neighborhood? Walkable neighborhoods? Apartment buildings with useful things on the ground floor? (as opposed to alternately nothing or filling the ground floor with wine + pottery painting and cupcake shops? or was zoning only for annoying people?)

    If ONLY it was feudalism.

But feudalism would come with a few things. Ownership, for one. You don’t come home from work in the evening and smash all your own plates – to demonstrate that you have full spectrum dominance over your kitchen – ending with, hands on hips, head thrown back, a long, evil villain belly laugh. Because those plates are YOURS.

But the Masters Of The Universe definitely DO do exactly that. Are doing.

It’s as if the quasi satanic principle that one will FULLY indulge oneself leads to indulging one’s BRAIN STEM instead of oneself. Oneself fades in comparison. A bit like the fading if you put on and succumb to The One Ring.

It’s as if your primitive side says, “All this stuff about stewardship, management, making things work for myself, this is all to complicated. All this give and take and having to understand things. Too much.”

And so they go into a basic mode of interacting with the world akin to the flat-headed Homo Erectus. A very effective raptor like predator, but its understanding of the world was wandering the savannah extracting resources. There was no sense in which the savannah was theirs in the way that your kitchen, your house, your land, your farm, YOUR barony, dukedom, or kingdom would be.

There’s just the world and there is stuff in it. Which you wander around and take.

Once you have full spectrum dominance (ie “we take stuff whenever wherever we find it and want it”) over money, the money is worthless. The moment you have all the money (and if you control it all, whether you “have” it or not, you have it,) the money becomes meaningless.

If you’re a feudal lord with peasants, freemen, artisans, merchants etc attached to your lands, you don’t think of them as disgusting vermin infesting your land. Obviously. They’re a big, big part of any wealth and power you have. You don’t obsequiously adhere to a new religion that it’s all those common people who ruin everything unless you can’t understand where all the stuff comes from. There’s just stuff in the world and I take it, what’s the problem???

If you can get a setup going where you wander civilization taking from it like you’re Homo Erectus wandering the serengeti, well, you CAN, so long as SOMEONE keeps managing and maintaining it, but not if you manage to enforce it as a worldwide system, just how things work everywhere.

For years, I told myself, when looters and whackos infest stuff to do with nuclear safety, we’ll be firmly in a Bad Place, but the people in charge won’t let THAT happen. Having taken control, they’ll have enough of a sense of ownership of what they’ve taken to put competent people in there and maintain a base of competence, even if only as a small island in society. Sigh.

Have we reached peak “climate” insanity. Probably not.

I mean, they openly want us to feel so awful that we think we shouldn’t exist, then starve
and freeze while humiliatingly eating bugs before, on their advice, committing suicide, even depressed children, but yeah probably not peaking.

Tried to watch a nature show last night. It was about scientists in Antarctica.

The guy they interviewed for this show talked about the large ice sheet sitting on WATER in the southern hemisphere melting and causing a 42 foot sea level rise, saying “It’ll wipe everyone out.” Uh, hey “scientist” …Archimedes? displacement? He literally said 14 metre sea level rise!

THEN he went on to say his team was going to be the first ever to explore the Ross Ice Shelf. Like that Hunger Games girl saying she was the first ever female action hero recently.

At that point I exclaimed “I’m not listening to any more of this religious claptrap!” and turned it off.

The wife said “hey, I just want to see the nature cinematography”

Oh ok, how about we find a well-filmed quality show sympathizing with creationists. You don’t mind hearing about how evolution isn’t a thing, the end times, and the 8,000 year age of the earth while we watch scintillating nature footage, do you?

I’m not having it anymore. I’m not having idiots proselytize their moralistic superstitious nonsense to me anymore. I won’t accept it as a tax I pay to watch footage of nature. There was a “documentary” about big cats we saw a few months ago that explained them ENTIRELY based on marxist theory. Not joking. I was like wtf. No science in it. Just vague nature show ish filler and marxist theory explanations of nature.

We watched a documentary on Cousteau the other day. As an aside, the 20 year old narrating said Cousteau crusaded and gave talks regarding CLIMATE. Uh, do you realize YOU are older than Climate Change, kid? COUSTEAU was talking CLIMATE CHANGE? What, was he saying the world would get COLDER? because that’s the climate change that was accepted back then. (pretty sure he was concerned about pollution)

Like, let’s just retroactively hand off all the massive honors due to Cousteau, all his virtue, to Climate Change. Cram Cousteau under that pedestal to make it just a BIT higher.

And that’s kind of the other thing with Feudalism – a sense of honor, of higher virtues. Based on some sort of reality. But our Masters Of The Universe continually propound anti-honor, anti-virtue. ACTUAL virtue must be handed over to the meme-complex that says everyone is awful and should just be humiliated and then die.

Within the structure of Feudalism, there typically is SOME sense that the owners ought to try to be better, regularly succeed in being better, which would be what makes the Feudal system worth it. And from ancient Persia to medieval Europe, the idea that virtue lives within the specific virtuous person, exists integrally to them, seems to be a constant.

Knowing who my Lord is – what specific person – and swearing an oath with him spelling out our specific responsibilities and duties to each other would be a damn relief at this point.

The funniest thing about Glomar Explorer was that the CIA dudes got obsessed with a Saturday morning cartoon visualization of a CLAW descending to grab the Soviet sub and bring it to the surface.

Their highly-experienced deepwater professionals told them that this was NOT the way to recover materials from a deep water wreck. But they were so obsessed with the idea of a cartoon claw, that they ignored all expert advice and went ahead with it.

As predicted, the sub broke apart as they attempted to lift it with The Claw, forcing them to finally do what the professionals had advised, but with the wreck now broken apart and scattered on the sea floor.

My own experience in the corporate world reflects that same mentality. BEFORE I experienced a series of mergers, my call center had a Director who, at LEAST once a month, would pick a cubicle, log in, and take customer care calls all day. ANY customer could maltreat her, berate her for failings in the organization, the products, whatever. Open to whatever direct feedback customers felt like giving, rational or irrational, customers who had no idea they were talking to someone 6 levels up from my own position.

Years later, after a series of mergers, nobody did that shit anymore. I once told someone several levels up that they need to log in and take calls all day – oh dear, you would think I had run over their dog. I’m quite sure the look in their eyes would NOT have been more mortally offended and revolted than if I’d delivered some crass personal insult. Like, if I’d suggested the company take up a policy of genocide, MAYBE their disgusted, horrified, angry look would have approached, but not equaled, what I saw. And all I was suggesting was a way to DIRECTLY tune in to reality.

Incidentally, there was a time I was in a position charge of anywhere from 30-70 people at various times and I made SURE to log in and take calls where people under me could SEE me do it AND then never, ever EVER bring it up. Never pat myself on the back, never wax self-righteous. While management was ordering me to bring them mylar balloons and ice cream. “For morale.” Which I refused to do. I ASKED them how it made them feel and they told me it offended them as patronizing, condescending.

By the end, of course, they thought it was appropriate to force me to inject poison while listening to Ibrihim X kendri tell me the thoughts I know I think, the person I’ve been is a FALSE self but HE has access to my TRUE self, which I cannot perceive, and whatever my false self, the one I’ve been intimately familiar with all my life, does, HE sees my TRUE self, which I cannot see, which is horrible in all ways no matter what my false self has always done or thought.

Thanks, employer. Surely, it is Corporations who should take the same role as the medieval catholic church and teach us morality and do so as a monopoly.

…but before that insanity, 2 trends seemed to dominate management:

1.) The frontline employees ruin everything. They Must Be Stopped. Practically every policy and process seemed to be formulated ultimately upon the idea of They Must Be Stopped. They Are Ruining Everything.

2.) Management would get silly ideas in their head. They’d imagine they had a solution to item #1 above, a simple thing that would solve it and immediately full-bore enact it as prioritized above all other concerns. Like dreaming of a cartoon claw grabbing a Soviet sub. And it would f everything up until we discovered all the necessary workarounds, which we would not inform management of, and eventually the new initiative would fade from memory.

I’m not entirely sure our Masters Of The Universe haven’t screwed themselves up in some essential fashion. What with their revulsion for interacting with reality at a base level and a revulsion for having to interact honestly with people who DO, what with their paranoia that it’s everyone else that ruins everything and their cartoon dreams that XYZ Thing will be The Answer…

Did they already add rudimentary brain chips, upload themselves, try to alter their own dna, try to add rudimentary brain-augmenting nanotech? Engage in weird permanently psyche damaging rituals or brain damaging “enlightening” chemicals?

Their continual trying and re-trying stupid crap. Their hate for basic human things like common sense, 2 sexes, eating meat, children, families, 2+2=4 etc. If they have high IQ’s, they are still “cognitively challenged” like a cluster B on steroids. weird insect reptile robot weirdos. Like they bootstrapped themselves into worse idiocy by first getting into the corporate managerial mindset, but then applied some Glomar Explorer cartoon claw solution to THEMSELVES, just so in love with the idea OF – finally THIS will be the answer.

It is in the nature of Cluster-B, Narcissistic personality disorder types, to, having pretended to adopt “the mantle of _____” to assert that “I have as much dirt on YOU as you have on me!”

This is because Narcs have trouble with apprehending context. Meaning, being an emergent property of context, they have problem with meaning. Which is why, despite tending to test a little bit higher on IQ tests, they are evaluated by psychologists as “cognitively challenged” or similar. Stupid if cunning. Cannot apprehend meaning.

If Narcs go around proclaiming morality while DOING evil, then an observer COULD say oh em gee. People who do evil proclaim morality. (what we do is equivalent. I proclaim good and act evil. Now you proclaim good, therefore I have as much dirt on you as you have on me from my perspective, it’s the Jedi who are evil, etc)

This isn’t all that hard. Entities, groups etc who openly go “Moo haa haa haa we shall be evil” are incredibly, INCREDIBLY rare.

The recent Kanye/Ye thing, case in point. A certain toothbrush faced fellow grabbed onto a bunch of ongoing concerns. Crony capitalists looting the country. Weirdos doing objectionable weird things in the culture – film, books, theatre, music.

So Kanye notices this. Er, that is a regular thing I see on the internets. People that read toothbrush faced fellow’s stuff and say holy cow wait, these are real things, was he trying to be a Good Guy? Uh, OF COURSE he cited real concerns. Of course. How else could he get any traction??!?!? You jump on and ride the horse that is standing there, conveniently, as an opportunist. Obviously. Obviously you don’t purely try to base your grift on imaginary shit. How could that succeed?

So a typical Cluster-B/Narc will claim sanctity, goodness, righteousness, ALWAYS. And THEN if you stand up for Good, will say, hey I am saying THE SAME THINGS, therefore I have the same dirt on you as you have on me and we are at least at an impasse, checkmate.

    But they actually aren’t.

I want Free Play. And I sure as fuck want to impose it on everyone.

In High School, I became INFINITELY happier when I decided life was NOT a John Hughes movie

When I pictured the school and the world as a place where everyone was freely doing their own thing, saying and doing whatever they liked, with no “popular crowd,” everything was cool. If a “popular kid” has 20 friends who attend keggers at houses while parents are at their 2nd or 3rd homes and a band geek has 80 friends, who is the popular one? And who cares? Maybe popular isn’t important.

I pictured a world in which everyone was responsible for, to the extent that they could, for doing their best to perceive reality correctly and then make their OWN decisions, recognize their own mistakes, and make their own corrections while engaging in FREE association, hanging with who they wanted and avoiding who they didn’t.

I figured the whole thing, taken together, was kind of a huge problem-solving engine. Everyone doing their own thing, accepting the responsibilities involved, correcting, and ultimately, pragmatic solutions being the result. People who screwed up could re-evaluate the actions of the winners and recalibrate, act again, and win too. A huge game with the goal that EVERYONE wins.

But of course that would involve free speech, free association, free action. The problem solving machine doesn’t work otherwise. Would I “impose” free play on everyone else? Yep. Would I laugh at cluster-B’s/Narcs saying “From my perspective, it’s the Jedi who are evil!!!!” Yep.

The Jobs “Boom” Isn’t So Hot When We Remember Nearly Six Million Men Are Missing From The Workforce
    Zerohedge Article

How Many Men Are Out of the Work Force?
    graph

I’m aaaalmost to 100 job applications with just 1 interview at a 50 employee company.

I’m beginning to think I need to declare myself to be a trans lesbian, stay married to my wife, keep wearing jeans, tshirt, flannel, baseball cap, and combat boots, and I’ll at least get another interview somewhere. Wife already accuses me daily of wearing “lesbian chique” how much difference could it make at this point?

Wife works at a small company, so probably can’t benefit her career from saying she is lesbian, although we could join some book clubs or something so we can be “that brave married lesbian couple.” (who gives a f what the BOOK is…) D&D went woke, maybe we can start one of those groups. Not sure I can put up with clerics using swords or “wizards,” whatever they are. Maybe they are trying to say magic users.

But anyway, the main thing would be that we would be Brave And Stunning and, judging from the current Youtubes of people playing 5e D&D, using our own bodyweight in hair gel daily. That is SO old school D&D. Possibly. I don’t know THACO not because I started too late, but because I started too early. I missed the super-gelled green hair. Must have been a thing though. Surely. Now pardon me I am off to be that unemployed guy playing Gauntlet at the local hobby store.

Aside from sugar and HFCS, one should consider all the various drugs and things entering the water supply. And the unknown quantity of endocrine disruptors, hormone mimicers, etc surrounding people all day.

Remember that 80’s Batman movie? People were mysteriously dying all over Gotham. They suspected poison, but couldn’t find any.

Then it was discovered the constituent components of poison had been added to a variety of personal care products. When combined on/in a person, it created poison, but no poison was in any of the products.

Aside from HCFS, drugs in the water supply, disruptors and mimicers in products, it would be difficult to tell if it is a combination of these things that causes a problem. Certainly we know combinations of prescription drugs cause reactions not found when taking each one individually.

When guitarists want to use an amp to rock out without deafening the neighborhood, it is necessary to use a load box – to take the load a speaker would have taken. No speaker OR load box…. problems. I feel like I totally and completely understand the power grid when I visualize it as a 1.21 gigawatts guitar amp.

“But no one really cares. Everyone seems to be in a fog. Including me I suppose.”

If you are inebriated, but consider what a reasonable sober person would do, you can still model that and then do it, which is weird, because if you JUST made a decision while inebriated, it would be an inebriated decision, but you can model sober behavior while inebriated and do that instead.

Imagine yourself at your non-foggiest, your canniest, your shrewdest. What does your sharper, braver, more ruthlessly principled, confident self do, if you ask yourself, what would I do if I were that?

Anybody remember, just before the “pandemic,” that news story that kept going for at least a couple weeks, the one with video selfie footage of various SJW-ish, mildly satanic looking, tattooed pierced purple haired black lipsticked people opening various products – food and hygiene – licking them and then putting them back on the shelves, or swishing mouthwash, then spitting it back in, closing the bottle, placing it back on the shelf, stuff like that?

I wonder, if we were to look back at social media and “news” media, would we find a bunch of different such things going on, activating people’s disgust/hygiene circuit? Not so much germophobia probably as disgust/filth?

But that which is too stupid or crazy, a waste of time, is the most invisible thing. Some sort of Darwinian filtering here. If something is too crazy/stupid/wasteful to put effort into, it can operate with impunity. Weird.

    Anecdotal field report

Everyone is reported getting Covid at the wife’s office except her. She has rather bad reactions to any comment about the injection that does not vaccinate, so this was not the time to cite figures, statistics, negative efficacy. But when she exclaimed “Everyone keeps getting sick at the office” I did nod sadly, thoughtfully and say “everyone keeps getting sick.”

That’s my take these days, when SHE exclaims something, I’ll repeat the most telling words sadly. “Her neuropathy is way worse now.” or “he started having fainting spells” etc

When her brother got boostered AGAIN and soon after needed shoulder surgery, I wondered aloud, sadly, which arm he got the most recent injection in. Oh boy. Major yelling. “CONSPIRACY THEROY!!” I replied “Hey, it’s just that I Believe In Science” and explained there is a statistically measured incidence of shoulder problems after ALL vaccinations. I offered to pull up the medical/scientific info for her but she declined.

Still trying to get a job. Coming up on 100 applications, still only 1 interview request. I did notice a feature on the website that shows how many applicants there are. I’m seeing things in job listings like:

US Intelligence Chief Predicts ‘Reduced Tempo’, Waning Morale Of Russian Forces Entering Winter

“Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines has revealed the United States intel community’s current assessment that it expects the intensity of the Ukraine-Russia war to wane going into the winter months, only to ramp-up again during counteroffensives in the spring.”

“She further assessed that while the cold winter months will have a greater impact on Russians’ morale…”

so according to our Director of National Intelligence:
1.) Russians are demoralized by winter in their own country. Not used to it, apparently.
2.) The proper time for launching an offensive in Ukraine is in the Spring

    gotcha

I guess she wants to comment about a mechanized land war in Ukraine without reading anything about the most recent mechanized land war in The Ukraine?

Just pick a German general’s memoirs. Gudarian, Manstien, whoever. She’d get the stories of entire trucks, tanks, halftracks, horse and cart teams, etc sinking below the surface into 15 foot deep mud. She would see every general referring to Fall and Spring as Mud Season and mentioning a halt to offensive operations. She might even read about a bunch of winter offensives that were launched by both sides once the ground hardened in the Winter.

But she thinks operations will be suspended UNTIL Spring? UNTIL Mud Season?

Why would she lie about what is likely to occur this Winter or why would she keep herself this ignorant on something she chooses to speak on?

“Or does he at some point recognize that he’s incapable of doing what it is he intended to originally and sort of downscale what it is that he’s willing to accept?” – Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines

I too was wondering how Putin could conceive of accomplishing any military objectives in The Ukraine with triple to quadruple the forces as originally deployed and with The Ukraine’s infrastructure, hardware, and manpower seriously depleted as compared to Feb 2022. Surely, Putin is practicing the tactics of defeat.

It’d be nice if the Director would at least tell us what he was planning to do, so we can gauge his degree of failure at it.

“She further assessed that while the cold winter months will have a greater impact on Russians’ morale, she hasn’t seen the Ukrainian side lost their will, despite devastating missile attacks on the national energy grid meant to impose additional collective suffering.”

If Russia has tons of power and heat and Ukraine does not have much of any through the winter, the Russians will be more greatly comparatively demoralized. And it won’t occur to the Ukrainians that they had water, light, heat, roads, trains, electricity, sewers, and internet for 8+ months, right up until the Kerch and Nordstream incidents. They will draw no conclusions from this. Gotcha.

“Additionally she underscored that Putin is at this point more keenly aware of Russian forces’ “lack of performance and the fact that they did not accomplish more” but yet still may not be fully accepting of “just how challenged they are” – particularly the poor performance of ammo supply and logistics lines.”

with a continual hail of missiles and MLRS rockets for 10 months along with daily reports that Russia Has Run Out Of Ammunition for 10 months, Russia’s major setback is ammo supply and logistics lines. THIS is the thing they are “particularly” poor with? Everything else, they’re doing EVEN BETTER?!??!?

Who is this even for? Who cares if average Americans and Europeans think Russia prefers to launch offensives in the Spring, has bad logistics, has worse morale than Ukraine, can’t handle Winter? Why even bother saying this garbage? Is anyone even listening?

Why wait to say all this so close to when a Winter offensive would start rolling? It could start THIS WEEK depending on ground conditions, with her “analysis” still fresh in everyone’s mind. Is she TRYING to discredit her agency?

…but their WORTH comes from their traditional place in society.

    Lawyers, Priests, Doctors, Journalists

They have a special place in society because of their level and type of education, yes. Also their jobs, yes. But not really. IF that were the case, any number of other ethics-less jobs would be just as respected. But they have not been. A hedge fund guy earning 10x a doctor has been, in times past, been seen as LESS of a man than a doctor. Less valued, less respected by far.

The privacy with client, confessor, patient, or source is not mere humdrum commonplace. They are the pillars of civilization.

A doctor who acts as an obedient bureaucratic functionary is not a doctor. They are a bureaucrat. A Mandarin who has done the proper schooling to get a secure position, but has no code, no ethics. NOT a doctor. Someone who looks at a computer screen, reads from it, and sends you out for tests or specialists depending on what the screen tells them.

The value of doctors is AS doctors. Just as the value of journalists is AS journalists.

As they fail to exercise their special powers, they lose them, until they become obedient, valueless functionaries.

The only doctors and nurses we know for SURE are real doctors and nurses are the ones who got fired.

Those are the only ones I trust.

Certainly everything was done to make informed consent impossible.

And most of the doctors, everywhere on the planet turned out to be obedient bureaucrats, not doctors at all, since informed consent was such a basic concept for them to understand. Part of their schooling and oath.

My GP said he could not help me with a medical exemption and HAD to recommend the vaccine because of “strict guidelines.”

After the visit, I pulled up the FDA website and read their guidelines for discussing, recommending and administering the injection that does not vaccinate in full several times. First and foremost, it said he had to inform me of the side effects and he had to inform me that it was not mandatory. He did neither of these things. (he told me the opposite, really) He did NOT follow the guidelines.

He meant the internal corporate guidelines of his employer.

How long did it take me to check the FDA guidelines vs his behavior, twice? 10 minutes? 15? Certainly he had a responsibility as a doctor to check at least the things I checked ….but then I, owning my own life, clearly had a responsibility to check for myself.

But this is not just your job, mr doctor. This is your career. This is your life and identity. You will always be either the person who shut off their brain and followed guidelines, hurting hundreds, thousands? Killing how many? Or the person who wouldn’t do that. This is YOUR life and who you will or will not BE.

Many years ago, if I saw someone behind me looking at their phone in traffic, I’d pull aside and get back into traffic to get someone NOT on a phone behind me.

Several years ago, I had a commute home from work in which I TRIED to get away from people driving looking at their phones and could not. I pulled out and back into traffic 5 or 6 times. No matter how many times I tried, I couldn’t get away from them. The non phone-looker was now the outlier, not the phone-looker.

I’ve thought about the people looking at their phones in traffic and the people taking the shot.

The late Roman Empire had a Manpower Shortage. Always scrounging for troops. Various writers from the time period fretting, gosh darn it, the manpower shortage, the manpower shortage.

I’m not sure I buy depopulation, because there was a real issue with people cutting off their own thumbs to evade military service. And certainly the giant crowds in the major Roman cities, the ones the rulers feared would riot, remained.

In some sense, people don’t believe they own their own lives. So why focus on driving? Why check info about an injection? And they don’t own their jobs, their towns, their anything.

They couldn’t get people to fight for Rome because it wasn’t THEIRS. And to be fully accurate, Rome wasn’t the rulers’ property either. Rome could be understood in a more primitive way, as a stretch of Serengetti, the rulers as a hominid wandering it, extracting resources from it.

And so we’ve had a mysterious “manpower shortage”. And businesses open or don’t open depending on who can bring themselves to go in today. I keep hearing about it locally where I am.

Decades ago, I went to a local fireworks show. Something went wrong. Fireworks started falling into the crowd that had spread out on blankets with picnic items. After several had already landed in the crowd and gone off, resulting in some alarm, (yells, screams etc) one rather large one fell perfectly centered into the middle of a family’s blanket.

one of the more disturbing memories of my life, in a way

A husband, wife, and 2 toddlers turned to the firework, almost sleepily, as if in a dream. And, oddly, as if synchronized, as if controlled by the same marionette by strings, all leaned forward and OVER the firework cannister.

Over and over in my imagination, for decades now, I have imagined myself as the father, grabbing the nearest toddler and rolling away to gain distance from the explosive and put my body between it and the child.

But in my memory, they always replay in a trance, family of four, leaning towards the explosive.

Before they could get their faces directly over it, it went off, VERY loudly. The toddlers started crying. Maybe they all had hearing loss. I think it sprayed its bits at the ground, otherwise it would have sprayed upward and blinded all 4 probably melted their faces off. It was a bit larger than an extra-large folgers can. A non-negligible amount of explosive. Maybe some of it got burned up before it landed.

I feel the same kind of sick to my stomach sensation thinking of them and thinking of everyone who went along. There should have been some sense of preservation, ownership, and responsibility, to grab a child and roll. To yell “get back!” or something, anything. Both then and now it has a nightmarish surreal quality to it.

lol wtf is it with objecting to Germ’s tone to this extent? HE isn’t injecting anyone, pressuring anyone, ostracizing anyone, blocking anyone from social or economic activity. He’s just understandably angered and embittered.

And it seems to me, the thing he returns to again and again, is that for people who preferred to blank out and say this can’t be happening, the very people who made all of this possible, the chickens are increasingly coming home to roost. Their comfort-seeking fugue state will be rendered temporary by reality. It was an IMMORAL mental state to put themselves in.

Yeah it isn’t classy, but hell man, it’s all still happening RIGHT NOW

Like how is his real and justified anger and embitterment over real actual bad things and bad PEOPLE even a problem, really?

Let me ask you this Germ – what about people who realized their mistake after the fact. What about people who regret the shot, regret going along, and are now refusing boosters and won’t go along with new lockdowns? Same attitude towards those people? Or different and if so, how?

Like, I don’t see how people going along with malevolence in a netflix/prozac/soy infused haze are ok but someone angry at them isn’t.

I’ll try to define “what they had to do” then…

First, I’ll reiterate that it was BECAUSE OF COMPLIANCE that anyone’s anything was at stake. Compliance was THE CAUSE.

My understanding of what has happened 2020-2022 is one as old as human storytelling.

Some decent guy, maybe has a family, is doing his own thing, working hard, not bugging anyone and along comes something bad. Maybe barbarians, brigands, an invading army. Maybe a greedy governmental official or rich man.

They steal your movable property. They root around and try to find your hidden property. They steal your land. They force you to flee – by ruining your harvest, cutting you off from water, blocking you from transport, the ability to do your trade, whatever. A powerful, legitimately immoral force comes in and ruins everything you had going on. Maybe even wastefully. (evil that is to stupid to even properly profit!)

This is how great-grandfather ends up leaving his destroyed successful farm, business, or trade in the old country and ends up moving to America where he learns a new language and new humble trade in his 50’s. Because, to sum up, barbarians rode in and destroyed the family farm. This happens. History rolls over you in this way and you’re just the poor guy who was working hard not bugging anybody left with smoking ruins.

That’s what the forces were that swooped in ending many of the normal functions of human life and injecting poison. One of these historical things that rolls over the peasants and burns their productive nice little humble farm down in the process.

So bad people are coming to burn your farm down and steal your cow. Yes exactly.

There wasn’t an ALTERNATIVE. It was NOT a question of the peasant kneeling to a new lord and being spared to go about his business, paying his taxes to the new guy same as the old guy. There was no option to bow to a new religion and carry on. There was NO CHOICE OF THAT TYPE. There was no option given to submit in such a way.

The option was – we burn your farm down OR we poison you and you give us support for poisoning everyone else and burning down everyone else’s farm.

Look I’m sorry if barbarians come burn down your farm and you have to run to America to start over in your 50’s selling pencils on a street corner, but they REALLY ARE barbarians/invaders burning down your family farm.

For the people taking the shot, it seems to me for many it was kind of an incantation intended to transport them sideways into a world where relatively comfortable normalcy continues. The Secret. “Manifesting Reality.”

But I will lose my house? But I will go hungry? But Jr will have to quit college? But xyz thing will be missed out on? YES that is what happens when barbarians, invaders, or other plunderers show up, uninvited, to steal what they can and burn everything else down. And?

Nobody is going to be a good provider with myocardis or any other number of diseases. Certainly being dead makes you a bad provider.

I don’t even say there’s a moral obligation to actively fight. If you’ve got a family to care for, perhaps there’s a moral obligation to flee. My family fled the Bolsheviks with good reason. They didn’t actively fight them. But they didn’t JOIN them.

the only way taking the shot makes any sense is as a magic spell to be able to say “this isn’t happening” but it was and is.

I don’t feel the same vicious “that’s what you get!” that others feel. But when I think of those who complied, I feel ill. I feel sick to my stomach. Because of their credulity, incuriosity, and obedience. Whatever they didn’t know, they knew quite a lot. They knew compliance was what was powering everything happening. They knew they’d been lied to via every respected institution for the previous 6 years, on some level they knew this. ENOUGH people knew this to have non compliance stop it if they had only made their actions congruent with what they didn’t want to know.

What they “had to do” that they REALLY did was to say “this isn’t happening” and having said that, decided to have the farm not get burned down, support the barbarians, and take an injection of… (blank out. this isn’t happening. This can’t be happening.)

I did consider getting a fake shot. A very real option. Fire up the ol Tor browser and find a solution. Or just ask the $18/hr non doctor in the tent – “Do you like money?” waggle a $500 wad of $20’s and point at the needle and then the trash can.

But faking compliance would have supported everything going on as much as real compliance. So I didn’t. I could not pretend that the horde of horses standing there in my ruined fields in front of my burning buildings wasn’t actually there. I could not bring myself to ignore their existence, what they were doing, or the help I would be giving them.

Nobody needs to provide personal details, as if they were on trial, to someone else’s judgment, to justify some expression of their bitterness towards the compliant. Especially considering the behavior for YEARS of many of the compliant.

Those who went along bolstered destruction of nation, institutions, culture, freedom, families, friendships, as well as the murder of tens of millions and the injury of billions.

    Moreover, FOR WHAT?

For the ability to travel. For the ability to socially mingle and shop freely. To keep a job.

But of course it was those complying that were the very ones putting these things at stake. If no one complied, or enough people didn’t, NONE of these things would be at risk.

If you want to morally equivocate, say that the people with contempt for the compliance that led to all the wrongs that happened AND ARE STILL HAPPENING is just as bad as the pro injection which does not vaccinate people hoping to dance on the graves of people who did not comply, then state YOUR case rather than pretending you can put someone else on trial for feelings – rather justified feelings. The burden is on you. Go for it.

When I refused the jab which does not vaccinate and lost my job, it was because I recognized a duty to not comply. REGARDLESS of whether anyone “goes along” with me.

For those who took it and persecuted those who did not, ie those who WENT ALONG… of COURSE, to do it if nobody would go along did not compute. Integral to their psychology.

Funny, the peeps selling “overshoot,” limits to growth, etc, are the same people that insist any nation with negative population growth figures must accept unlimited numbers of people from positive population growth countries to facilitate further population growth. …thus continuing population growth in countries that would have started shrinking and enabling further population growth in other countries?

Are B52’s flying round-the-clock missions out of Diego Garcia dropping condoms and family planning leaflets on positive population growth countries? Are the streams of migrants providing pressure-relief to positive growth countries being turned back, blocked, to force an end to further overshoot? Is international aid being made contingent on achieving a stop to population growth? Is the machine that demonizes Russia and gloats that its population is shrinking demonizing positive population growth countries at least as hard?

And the “experts” leading us by the nose towards the solution never go first. Never. You first sir. Go on.

And the ones wanting to “bring justice” and “make things fair” through a cutting-edge, better-reasoned, materialist system are the ones who retreat to the oldest governmental systems — the ones that Sargon, Cyrus, Nebuchadnezzar, Clovis, or Alaric would have no trouble recognizing, understanding, and running. The most unfair, corrupt types of systems, ultimately based almost purely on pecking order and pull. And kickbacks and bribery. And nepotism.

…justified by, essentially, religious moralistic excuses. At least Odovacer recognized he was taking over useful sophisticated structures. Obvious to an invading barbarian but not a “materialist.”

It’s almost as if self-proclaimed materialists get frustrated at the nuance and complexity of balance of powers, live and let live, rights… the sophisticated structures, the complexity of interrelation, the constant need to give-and-take, is what “materialists” seem to truly rebel against.

…which makes things awkward for an atheist such as myself. 2020, more than any previous year, I looked around and thought about who I am definitely NOT with. Apparently that includes people screeching that they are “materialists.”
