Re severity of outbreak in NZ. 3 out of 22 cases on hospital. One was in before testing positive, none are serious.

These lock downs will become as endemic as ‘the new flu’

4 new cases here in auckland. 1 a fully vaccinated Healthcare worker at our biggest hospital.
At least our PM is admitting now that vaccines aren’t as good as promised.

20 deaths reported to VAERS, 15 ruled out, 2 not enough info, 3 under investigation, not including <6 miscarriages. At least children are not on the hit list yet.

Disclaimer. Unvaccinated and intend to stay that way

Woke up to a nice surprise on this first morning of our nationwide lockdown here in NZ, $4200NZD deposited in my bank account after filling in a few fields on an online form. I’ll certainly be making a recurring donation to TAE (whom I’ve been following since we briefly met here in 2012).
    Keep up the great work.7

Sometime ago, I can’t remember where or when I read about an analysis of the average temperature in the US over a few days after 9/11. I thin the result was a 1 to 1.5 degree C increase due to the shutdown of the airlines. No planes in the sky, no high altitude exhaust particles.
With the global shut we are having, as well as the industrial shutdown, I wonder what we might experience in the coming weeks? Less particulates in the atmosphere means more incident solar radiation = more heat.

2 confirmed community transmissions and New Zealand goes into lockdown.
I’m glad I saw this coming as I’m a long time lurker on TAE.
I’ll be spending the next 4 weeks of mandated ‘stay at home isolation’ on a small sparsely populated island far (enough) from the maddening crowds.

At 17:30 NZDT (4:30 AM GMT) I made some predictions based on magnitude increases for the worst hit European countries. Dates are close of the countries reporting day.

Italy 19 March 100,000 total cases, 24 March 10,000 deaths

    Spain 23 March 100,00 cases, 22 March 1,000 deaths, 30 March 10,000 deaths

    US 18 March 10,000 cases, 29 March 10,000 deaths

    France 18 March 10,000 cases, 25 March 100,000 cases, 24 March 1,000 deaths

All these countries as of 16 March have a 10 fold increase time of between 6 and 9 days.

    All care but no responsibility.

The BBC had this pegged back in Sept 2017.

They even have an app for it:

The BBC Pandemic App could be key in preparing for the next pandemic outbreak. In order to better understand how an infectious disease like flu can spread, researchers need data about how we travel and interact.

The data collected between September and November 2017 was used to simulate the spread of a highly infections flu across the UK and predict how many of us might die – the results are revealed in Contagion! The BBC Four Pandemic. The data collected between December 2017 and December 2018 will contribute to this new gold-standard data set for use future simulations and in wider Pandemic research.

    BBC 4 Contagion Simulation 2017

I’ve not yet watched it, but I wonder if “Herd Immunity” is the preferred option…

“Eatng a corn chip produced from Bt corn might transform our intestinal bacteria into living pesticide factories, possibly for the rest of our lives.”

What may happen when the Bt DNA transforms the mitochondria in all of our cells… Which is ancient bacteria hosted by animal cells ever since energy was required by said cells. No energy, no life

“These people are delusional, wasted bags of flesh…”
@v_arnold – are you talking about the city, state and federal policy makers or the unfortunates who have had forced upon them, or for some chosen a life on the edge of what you consider normal. Homelessness is so much more than just the people not in adequate housing.
But that money sure would house a lot of those in need rather than pay some graduate policy anal ysts salary
