    Carol:

In the not too distance future, the death rate in Quebec and Ontario will fall rapidly once the coronavirus has finished visiting all of the nursing homes. Then there will be no more old folks left.

Our socialist leaders have the same plan as the coronavirus. Kill off all the old people.

It will be very interesting to see how India giving the anti-marlaria med to everyone, works out!

Since India produces this med in great amounts, it is a proven safe med, what do they have to lose?

One morning, while waiting with my kids for the elementary school bell to ring, one kid proudly displayed his own cell phone.

So, I asked him if he had to carry the cell phone with him all day long. He replied, yes.

Then I asked him if he had to answer the cell phone if it rang? Yes, he replied!

Then I asked him what would happen if he didn’t answer the cell phone? He replied, his parents would be mad at him!

Then, I asked him if he went to a friend’s place to play did he have to phone his parents? Yes, he replied. His parents wanted to know where he was at all times.

Then I said to him it seems to me like this cell phone is quite a burden for you to carry. He asked, what do you mean?

I said, well it seems like this cell phone is like having a steel ball and chain attached to your leg all the time!

The kid then said, yeah, I see what you mean!

It doesn’t really matter how the coronavirus gets into nursing homes!

Once in, it spreads like wildfire!

At this rate, the coronavirus will soon run out of nursing homes to visit.

Sadly, the coronvirus death rate will only fall when it runs out of victims.

Glad to see you have kept your sense of humor!

I left the rat race 19 years ago, so 2 years ahead of you!

Mind you, I probably got a head start at the ripe old age of 47!

The usual cycle of life goes something like this: You are born, you grow up, you go to school, you get a job, as you gain work experience supposedly you move up the ladder until you reach your level of incompetence, then your grow old, then you retire, then in your golden years you lose your marbles before regressing to your childhood, then you end up in a nursing home, then you die. These days of the coronavirus, of course!

So, you start life being a dependent child and end your life being a dependent child.

Because I never reached my peak, I got an early start, regressing toward my second childhood!

I have certainly lost all of my marbles! However, I still have a few lose screws!

So now you know how I got an earlier start, regressing to my childhood, than most folks!

I think what you are trying to say is called a state of confusion!

If you listen to what a person says and then watch what they do, this creates a state of confusion because they don’t match!

Naturally, to undo this state of confusion, you just watch what they do, and ignore what they say!

    Karl Marx in person.

In 1983, I got to see, first hand, how the Russians pulled themselves up by their bootstraps!

Well, first of all their boots didn’t have any straps. At least not in Siberia!

Maybe if they had tried pulling up on their ankles, it might have worked better?

Carl Marx’s solutions did not take into account basic human nature.

You see in Russia, everyone was waiting for the other guy to do the heavy lifting to get to worker’s utopia!

The problem was the other guy was waiting for them to do the heavy lifting!

So nobody was doing any lifting, heavy or not!

Since they all worked for the government, nobody could be held responsible!

If from drinking the Kool-Aid, you foolishly insisted upon working, the rest of your co-workers would soon make you stop, one way or another, because you would make them look bad!

Doesn’t that sound pretty much like how our government doesn’t works?

Another unexpected surprise this weekend is my wife and I are finally free to talk to each other again!

Ever since my daughter came home, from her coronavirus closed university, we have had to be as quiet as mice, so as not to disturb my daughter studying for and writing her final exams online.

My wife has a quick temper, and so does my daughter! I wonder where she got that from! Not wanting to be the jam between two slices of bread, I naturally try not to get caught in the middle!

My wife is also rather forgetful, so she would start trying to talk to me in the kitchen where I hang out as the family’s short order cook! My daughter would then get mad at my wife for making too much noise!

(My daughter tolerates me better simply because I feed her!)

It also doesn’t help that my deaf wife likes to talk without her hearing aids on! That means she tends to shout rather than talk! Now you see why my hearing daughter gets upset so easily!

Oh, yes I almost forgot! The reason we can finally talk again, is my daughter wrote her final exam last night! Hurray!

    Thank God for small mercies!

Today, for the first time up here in Toronto this spring, I broke quarantine and spent several hours raking dead leaves in my backyard, trapped last fall by the arrival of winter snow.

It was a nice sunny balmy 13 degrees Celsius or 55 degrees Fahrenheit outside!

Sad to say, the exercise proved what a couch potato I am!

A Lesson on the value of Time and Money.

Working in Africa, I once naively asked an native African why he didn’t work harder?

In broken English, he replied, “Little money, little work”!

It hit me like a bolt of lightning, but I grasped instantly what he meant!

If he worked harder, he then needed to consume more food! The amount of money he received didn’t allow him to buy more food.

I soon realized from further experiences, nothing happened quickly in Africa.

If you wanted to make something happen quickly, you had to pay!

    Thus time is money.

I had the money. They had the time!

    I had a choice!

I could trade money for time or not!

I have never forgotten this lesson!

Here in Ontario the coronavirus death rate seems to be leveling off (i.e. not increasing) mainly because the coronavirus is running out of nursing homes to visit.

    Same for Quebec.

A few days ago I read about three women coming up with a simple smell test for people who might have the coronavirus but show little or no symptoms.

First, you take a sniff of vinegar! If you can smell the vinegar you still have some sense of smell! If not, your smell buds are truly and badly fried!

Second, you take a sniff of peanut butter! If you can not smell the peanut butter then your smell buds are in the process of being or have already been fried by the coronavirus!

    Speaking of oil (drugs).

    1. I suspect there is some kind of deal between ALMO and Trump regarding the Mexican 300,000 barrels oil cut that the US is doing for Mexico.

Mexico had a problem. They had successfully hedge their oil prices at higher levels so naturally they didn’t want to cut oil production. So they made a deal and the US will cut oil production for Mexico!

Obviously there are some strings attached! How about helping the US put the squeeze on drug supplies! The Mexican/US border remains closed! Notice the sudden large navy presence in the Caribbean and off of Mexico’s Pacific coast!

Trump is squeezing the deep state where it really hurts!

    2. It looks like the Saudis are very serious about oil prices this time.

They are purposely flooding the world with cheap oil!

Just too make doubly sure the cure for low oil prices is low oil prices, they are busy filling up all of the world’s oil storage facilities!

How are they doing that, you say?

They have reserved storage space in all of the world’s unfilled oil storage spaces! The US, Europe, and Asia! Plus every available oil tanker in the world! In a few short weeks there will be no available oil storage space to be had anywhere!

Yes, I do think the Saudis are deadly serious about oil this time!

    3. So oil countries like Iran (infrastructure issues), Venezuela (heavy oil, infrastructure issues), Nigeria (crime, corruption), Canada (tar sands), US (shale), Russia (arctic) will soon be shutting oil expensive production down even if they don’t want too!

Some shutdowns can not be reversed once shutdown as the damage is permanent! Canada’s tar sands and Russia’s arctic oil wells are examples of this.

The political reign of many countries’ goverments may get toppled as a result of running out of money! Venezuela and Iran come to mind!

Another reason why I think the Saudis are deadly serious! They have a little war going on with Iran that isn’t going so well on the ground!

They are likely out to kill two birds with one barrel of oil!

    On drug supplies hurting.

I think Dr. D nailed it. To cut off funding to the deep state.

Part of the “open borders” deep state are Democrats and some Republicans too. They depend greatly on the drug cartels for funding.

That is why they champion “open borders”. It is not for the good of the American people. It is for their own good. Thus no money for building a border wall.

The so called small business rescue plan was specifically used by big business as an opportunity to put many small businesses permamently out of business!

Afterall less competition is good for big business!

The initial political intentions may have been good, but one needs to understand how the sausage (nod to Bismarck) is actually made!

The actual legislation is not written by the politicians but delegated to the lobbyists via the Chamber of Commerce. So who might these lobbyists be? Small businesses can’t afford lobbyist. So that leaves the only lobbyists in town, big business, to write the legislation!

And well connected big businesses like Shake Shack, Harvard University, got most of the small business’s money!

This reminds me of what Germany did to France’s businesses after conquering France in 1940. The Germans decreed that no business could layoff any staff and had to continue to pay them despite having no business! Most quickly went bankrupt and then the German bankers swooped in and legally bought those businesses they wanted for pennies on the dollar!

Economic warfare by any other name!

One thing I expect the coronavirus to do is bring deaths forward (earlier than expected), such that later the average levels of deaths may temporarily fall for a few years in the future.

Here in Ontario, I think they have simply given up on increasing their testing capabilities from about 3,000 per day. Nobody even mentions testing rates in the news anymore!

I guess Sweden’s model is kill off the old folks quickly so they are no longer a burden to the social system.

Then the death rate will peak and fall.

Ironically the coronavirus has the same model.

    Re-your smog comment.

The last of my English ancestors left (escaped at night actually) England in the late 1890s because of the coal induce pollution. (The rest of my ancestors left much earlier, again all in very unhappy circumstances!)

It was so bad that people ended up sick with black lung!

Once when I was visiting an old historic British army barracks, I was surprised to find all of the army beds were elevated similar to a lawn chair.

I asked the tour guide and was told that most of the British solders suffered from black lung from the burning of coal.

The only way the soldiers could sleep without coughing their brains out all night, was in an elevated sitting position to keep the fluids at the bottom of their lungs.

So as bad as we thing pollution is today, 100 years ago it was much worst!

P.S. Don’t forget the horse poo everywhere plus flies!

I see that you share my views on scientists and their modelling efforts!

The only modelling I trust somewhat are engineering models that have been tested against reality.

When I was doing electrical circuit modelling, our results were usually within 5% to 15% due to circuit component tolerances. But at least we got to test the model against a real circuit and adjust accordingly!

The big problem with modelling is garbage in usually ends up with amplified garbage out!

With all of the wall to wall news coverage of the coronavirus, nobody covers what it is like to get a milder case of the coronavirus, no requiring hospitalization, and the length of time it takes to recover.

That is a pretty big gapping hole!

The few comments I have seen suggest that recovery can be long and exhausting. Many face recoveries in months not weeks.

Recoveries consists of recurring bouts of illnesses that seem to come in waves. One minute you feel like you are recovering, only to then be hit by another wave. Exhaustion and lack of energy is commonly mentioned.

That would help explain the lagging recovery statics.
