It is a truism among truckers that if their feet are on the ground, they aren’t making any money. Left unsaid is that if truckers have their feet on the ground, ain’t nobody getting nothing, either.

Is there any group more powerful than truck drivers right now?

You can fake a lot of jobs in the professional sectors, but ya gotta be able to actually drive a truck to be a truck driver.

When Billy Joe Ray Bob decides to drive his rig, fully loaded, back to his little slice of heaven- two acres with a single wide on it-and park it under the shade tree next to his house, ain’t nobody getting what’s in his trailer.

    Your source is Vice.

I think they are more entertaining than a source of the way it really is.

“Jen Psaki, sneering avatar of an aristocracy that regards working Americans as less than dirt.”

My understanding is that having a healthy cardio-pulmonary system helps you survive Covid. Or not die as easily from Covid?

Jens people closed down all of the gyms, remember? Fined the owners if they opened them? Arrested them? Threw them in jail?

So we couldn’t stay healthy like we used to. We were locked down. So a good work around? Buy a piece of exercise equipment for your home or apartment, right?

Jen mocked the reporter when he suggested the current shipping crisis (yes, a crisis-because that is what it is) was slowing down the arrival of home exercise equipment. Tsk, tsk. She said. Because die at home- you people don’t belong to our people.

Could the red line Psaki drew be any brighter for the rest of us?

    Take the jab because health.

But never mind about your body’s physical health. Or mental health, either. No Church for you. We don’t want you feeling as though there is hope, or god forbid, belonging to something larger.

Jabbed or unjabbed, Raul has created a group that is bigger than each of us. Thank-you Raul.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Thursday called a special session of the Florida Legislature to pass legislation banning COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

Covid mandates are the children’s game of Red Light-Green Light.

    Writ large.

Your example is one study. Done in Argentina. Grasping at straws? A virus that is 95%-100%% survivable.

What happens when you and yours run out of Greek letters to describe the mutations? Go alpha-numeric?

At the end of Rickovers speech:

Certainly no one likes taxes, but we must become reconciled to larger taxes in the larger America of tomorrow.

It means that we must reconcile ourselves to continuing higher taxes to build up and maintain at decent salaries a greatly enlarged corps of much better trained teachers, even at the cost of denying ourselves such momentary pleasures as buying a bigger new car, or a TV set, or household gadget.

An ever larger share of what we earn must go to solve problems caused by crowded living – bigger governments; bigger city, state, and federal budgets to pay for more public services.

You’ll have nothing and you’ll like it.

    Ilargi,

Help me with this, please. Is covid 19 a gain of function virus? My understanding is that gof is modifying a virus that is not transferable to humans to become transferable? Also gof increases the virulence of the virus?

If the answer is yes, did Fauci have anything to do with this?

    Thank you.

So why not give Americans a tax credit for getting vaccinated? Get the jabs, get $50,000 USD tax credit. Use it as you need it to reduce your income tax? Allow for going back 3-5 years and file amended returns to capture tax paid on your income for those years? And carry it forward until it’s used up? Doesn’t this kind of fit the President’s infrastructure plan anyway? Incentivize getting the jab.

Although literate, apparently he knows nothing about guns. But he lives in California, so how would he? No sir, no, it’s not. Unless you’re shooting villains at 200 yards in a Mad Max movie, the AR is definitively NOT a good home defense weapon. The .223 will go right through your house, your neighbor’s house, and has a fair chance of hitting anything nearby, but is NOT safe for self-defense in any inhabited neighborhood, but worse, stands an off chance of shooting through the hallway into the kitchen and garage even if you’re the only house for miles. That’s not it’s purpose.

Would this be the same “Patrol Rifle” that local law enforcement uses throughout the US? To respond to calls to your house or your neighbor’s house?

91 comments in yesterday’s thread. That may well be a record. How does one read all that? I don’t

You must be right over the target(s)?

Can we call all of these book deals what they really are? Payola? Money-laundering? Or am I just jealous that all of these fascinating people just happen to have political influence?

    @Zero sum,

The biggest killer of truth for seniors is the web.

I would have thought that most seniors would be educated enough at that point in their lives to suss out the truth for themselves? The internet to me has just become the next iteration of the boob tube.

That’s why I find myself here, at Mr. Mejier’s blog- here is a fair-minded man with fair-minded commenters!

They’re killing off your culture. You’re being cancelled.

Raul, re this and your previous post. I was in a classroom last month, filled with 5th graders. The class notes said that the leader for the day would lead in the flag, salute, and, If I chose to, the class could then sing along with a “patriotic song” chosen from her play list. I chose “Yankee Doodle Dandy”. Not to be mean, but, well, maybe. Fifth graders and Yankee Doodle Dandy? In this day and age?

They sang. They knew the words by heart. All 5 verses! I didn’t know there were five verses! I was expecting Jimmy Cagney to burst through the classroom door and dance across their desktops. I had tears in my eyes when they finished.

Their conduct was deplorable. See what I just did there? Heh,heh.

There are some teachers and a school keeping our culture alive. I can attest to that.

President-elect Joe Biden has affirmed his support for erasing some student debt “immediately.”

Is this how it really is?

Or Biden/Warren come to aid of money lenders. Destitute college grads unable to pay back loans. Biden/Warren make lenders whole by transferring debt to US taxpayers.

Good to know that Vietnam will be able to provide test kits for everyone in America. At ten thousand kits a day we should have everyone tested in about a 100 years.
