ParticipantHere’s how to solve the old Capitalist vs Communist argument.
1. Obtain a very long boat.
2. Put the Capitalists at one end of the boat and the Communists at the other end of the boat.
3. Place one battle ax in the middle of the boat.
4. Sink the boat.D Benton Smith

I wonder, did they mean that to be pot roasted, barbequed or raw? There are several ways to read their ambiguous motto, and all of them creepily sinister.

ParticipantIf I ever need a sedative strong enough to not just calm my nerves but at the same time send my brain off to some soothingly secret sanctuary of somnolence (and my soul into suspended animation) then I will find out what pharmaceutical James Howeird Kunstler is using and take the same one. . . . but at a small fraction of his dosage.
Jim is sounding the All Clear now that the Biden Pseudo Psy Op is winding down to its ignominious ending and stalwart McCarthy is at the helm of Congress America’s Ghost Ship of State will forthwith unsink itself and return to safe harbor.
Sure it will, Jim, and by the way, what’s the name again of that trank you’re on?

ParticipantSo why call it “Capitalism” ( proper noun, complete with capitalization of the initial letter) instead of just calling it “uncoerced trade”?
Obviously there is more to it than that. The thing, Capitalism (proper noun, initial cap) has become an impossibly complex sociopolitical construct , the description of which has filled libraries with books and the arguments over has filled graveyards with corpses. I think we need a re-think on this definitions thing.

ParticipantThe latest from Davos is that Greta Thunberg is now accusing the Davos Crowd of being at the core of the “Climate Change” (formerly Global Warming, until the Ice Age started) crisis. She calls them greedy and selfish and laments that the solutions to climate crisis will apparently have to come from the bottom up, by the unwashed masses demand change from those who profit from buying selling and selfishly consuming gas and oil (and coal, too, I suppose.)
Sad, but perhaps it is one small step in the right direction for her spiritual growth
Greta Thunberg is now one half-witted epiphany closer to understanding how she is being a useful idiot for the folks who financed her rise to fame and glory. The Davos Crowd are war mongers, and she is one of their myriad of brainless tools. That inbred clan enriches and empowers itself by first using other peoples’ power and riches to stir up and advertise a war over a problem that they themselves promote, and then profiteer from the conflict by extracting money from all of the warring sides. Works like a charm every time, but it would never work if it weren’t for attention starved morons like Greta.
It is also highly unlikely that dear dumb Greta will have that enlightening realization anytime soon, because her own fame and fortune comes entirely from the the lucrative and ego stroking little war that she is helping the Davos Crowd to monger at the current moment.
The world is built of such broken straws.

ParticipantEvery Ruler that I’ve ever heard of has been ruled by the need to protect the power to protect that power. Even the ones who swore that they were seeking and protecting power for the sake of using it to benefit the welfare others.
That is the one truth that no ruler will ever tell the truth about, because without that lie they would not be empowered to rule. [ “Hey, Joe, I want to have the power to do whatever I want to you whether you like it or not. You’re good with you, right?”] And they do, demonstrably, want to rule. As evidenced by their doing so. They are a ruler. They will of course maintain that to help you and to protect your interests they will of course need to have the power to create and enforce rules and other instructions that would have to be followed by everybody. They might even believe this self-referencing circular nonsense themselves. The good ones all do, and many of the bad ones do, too.
That sort of moral and cognitive circularity has a strong propensity for breaking the brains, the hearts, and the moral compass of all who try to accomplish it.
So, what was that lie again? The lie is that rulers seek power for the sake of the well being of others. They do not. They seek power. Whether that power is intended for good, for bad, or just for fun . . . . it is first and foremost simply power. And by definition power is the action of imposing one’s will over some other person against (or without) the informed consent of that somebody’s free will.
In other words, they want to do what THEY want to do, regardless of (or maybe even in opposition to) what that SOMEBODY else wants.
Now a few of you guys will undoubtedly call all of this tslk as nothing more than sophist philosophical blathering of no material importance or even relevance. Of course you will, because you are so heavily invested in off-shoring your power to others that the very idea that those trusted institutional powers would rather see you dead than let you exercise your own power (or take some of theirs).
The situation battering down our doors right now is that power run amok. That’s certainly undeniable. And stopping it from succeeding in consuming you and/or your loved ones is going to take SOME kind of power to counter-pose it, isn’t it?
But just you remember this: the powerful rulers that created and supported to protect you and yours from the insane rulers who have run amok, are by that very action BECOMING what they say they are seeking to oppose. Can’t dodge that fact, either.
You are personally, already in that mix whether you like it (or even know it) or not. Be careful! the balance is as delicate as it is vitally important. If you abdicate power you will remain a slave and endure or succumb to whatever comes at you, and if you resist and fight you thereby run the risk of becoming your enemy.
So why risk anything?
Because once you get the balance right you will discover who you really are, and at that point the game gets WAY better than you think it is now. Maybe even better than you had imagined or thought possible.

ParticipantThe world still seems pretty chaotic messy and dangerous today. Maybe just an infinitesimal iota less so than last week, but still just awfully screwed up, screwed over and bizarre beyond easy description.
I’m waiting for the second biggest big shoe of all to drop and clear up some of the geopolitical (etc. etc.) chaos that swirls higher with every passing hour and day like a cosmic pressure cooker. This “shoe drop” realization will be the broadly understood epiphany that no organization of noble heroes or miraculously reformed institutions or enforced rule of law is going to come to our rescue BECAUSE it is hierarchy itself, the organized enforcement of rules itself, that is the problem in the first place.
Enforcement (of rules or anything else) implies force, does it not? Well hierarchy is the enforced authority of one or more persons over another or others. By definition. That definition is also is also the description of slavery and tyranny. Ya just can’t sidestep the fact.
Rules, authority, power and hierarchy are part and parcel of the same thing. Just face it. By their intrinsic nature they all involve the suppression (or “overruling”) of free will.
Well, you have free will, and the bad news is that you ARE going to use it. Attempting to not use it can only end in the factual reality that such an attempt is just another way of using it.
Trying to abdicate free will by making or enabling hierarchies or external authorities to do jobs that only you can do is a fool’s game that races itself to the bottom. The only escape from such a dwindling spiral of abdication of responsibility is personal awareness and acceptance of the God who made you. Talk with him or it (or whatever representation that suits your fancy) . He’ll explain it a lot better than I can.

Can’t shoot them from guns in Donbass without shipping the bullets there first and THAT is a bit of a sticky wicket. ParticipantThe spooky connections and “coincidences” that have occurred in my little corner of the Universe continue to just gob smack me.
Here’s another one of them:
The use of networked computers as an interactively two-way tool to both teach and control humans through AI assisted psychological sub-conscious influences ( a la B.F. Skinner style conditioning) was first developed as classified research known as the PLATO Systems program under US Air Force funded contracts (secret at that time) with the Coordinated Science Laboratories at the University of Illinois in the late 60’s and early 70’s.
The program largely depended upon an electronics and computer hardware AND software Wunderkind genius by the name of Paul Thomas Tucker, who they recruited at the age of 16 and who soon thereafter became the de facto director of the Labs when he graduated High School at 18, back in 1966.
In case you haven’t made the connection, this research and development went on to become the foundation from which sprang computer random access memory, telephone modems, the internet, artificial intelligence, military flight and weapons systems control and a host of other specialized technologies all centering around computers and the US Department of Defense ( and Wall Street !), and Paul was instrumentally involved in the design and building of ALL of those products
Paul and I were best friends all through High School and well into college. At one point he even lived in our house for a few months months after his Dad kicked him out of the family home for dating a girl who’s father was a demonstratively rabid anti-Catholic. In fact, I was a key ally in Paul’s relationship with the girl he would go on to marry. Because both her father and his hated each other passionately it was crucial to keep either of them from knowing that Paul and her were seeing one another. So I would ask her out on a date, take her to Paul and then go home. After the date Paul would return her to me and I would drive her back home to her unsuspecting father. Worked without a hitch.
Our friendship faded away in the mid 70’s when Paul disappeared into the bowels of the military Industrial complex and I sailed off into the metaphysical soup of art, philosophy and spiritual questing. Last I talked with him directly he was designing the on-board computer for the flight and weapons system of the F-111 out in California somewhere, and the last I heard of him he had designed the first High Speed Trading System that turned capitalist investment into a computer based alternative reality game.
One other thing about Paul. In addition to being a great guy, best friend and genius he was a complete neurological psychopath who didn’t even know what fear, remorse or responsibility even meant. I once witnessed him stand with his back to a straight 200 foot drop to certain death on rocks below, the heels of his shoes literally on the lip of the precipice. He was laughing and smiling the entire time without the slightest hint of concern. His viewpoint of designing fighter jet weapons was that the science was fun and cool and paid well. He didn’t see how what the jets and missiles were used for had anything to do with him whatsoever. When I told him straight out that what he was doing was evil it didn’t even break his good mood. Not his department so not his problem. Didn’t resent my blunt criticism in the least.
I say all of this because in a very real and material way, much of the work product that he contributed to the monsters who are determined to kill us was the technological output of my old friend Paul. And here I am now trying to do something about it. Ain’t that something.

ParticipantOne of the most difficult things in the world to do is to really, and truly, set aside personal preference and bias and think clearly, without prejudice. It may, indeed, be virtually impossible.
Be that as it may be however, let’s hypothetically suppose that it WAS possible and that some unlucky bloke had actually done it (maybe by accident.) That poor guy would then face the apparently insurmountable task of communicating his findings to other people who had not yet personally experienced and benefited from that particularly rare miracle. In other words, practically EVERYBODY else (other than a few saints who are totally ostracized and ignored because everybody thinks them to be crazy) will dismiss what he says because they know better than he does.
Ugo Bardi is my intellectual superior. In a thinking contest he would be putting the groceries away in the kitchen cabinet while I was still trying to fight my way out of the paper bag that they came home from the store in.
I’m not being modest. I’m not even being falsely modest. I’m simply stating an obvious fact that would be easily and immediately verified by a 30 minute IQ Test. (why waste two hours when a short-form test will conclusively prove the same thing?). He’s smarter than me. And that unfortunate fact present the both of us with a REALLY big problem.
The smarter guy will decide if the dumber guy is right or not, and rest upon his intellectual superiority (which is demonstrably verifiable) as judge and jury. Case closed.
But here’s the deal, see, his brain power does not make him right, any more than my lack of it makes me wrong. A fact is just a fact regardless of what either guys thinks about it. Therefore when a dumb guy tries to factually inform a smart guy that the smart guy has reached a very very badly wrong conclusion because of the erroneous assumptions of supposed facts . . . problems arise.
And therein is the friction rash that nobody is very good at relieving. The cognitive differential is not the problem. It is the very MECHANICS of communication that is the problem.
Not all facts, you see, are intellectualizable.
Some facts simply ARE, and there ain’t nothing you or anyone else can do about it.
The existence of God, for example. Is He or ain’t he?
He is. Whether you like it or not.
You may have noticed that there is a Universe all around you. It’s His. He has granted (God only knows why) to you the free will to share the Universe with Him and with each other.
YOUR only job is to share it well. Kindly leave the rest of it in his more competent care.
God will decide, and make abundantly clear to all concerned, if and when He decides that there is too much population, or “too many people”. Perhaps He’s doing that right now. Perhaps there are too many people and the numbers are about to be catastrophically reduced by an internecine war between the minority smartypants who believe there are too many humans, and the hoi paloi who believe that it is not within ANY human being’s authority to make that call.
The fact that almost every intellectual fails to grasp is that the OPERATIVE factual reality of the existence of an infallible, omniscient and omnipotent God which they hold to be at best a sort of vaporous “fringe” theory . . . is INSTEAD the single most fundamentally operative fact underpinning and making manifest the Universe they all exist in and pride themselves at being so superior at “Sciencing”.
So what is my point of contention with Mr. Bardi ?
It is his proposal that it is somehow humanity’s responsibility to determine how many people is the right number of people. That conversation is off limits if you’re even REMOTELY going at it with the notion that you should have some say-so in changing the numbers against the will of any human being effected by that “conversation”. Talk is fine. Chatter away. Action committees and secretive high casualty rate “solutions” are NOT okay.
I maintain that it is NOT humanity’s responsibility to determine how many people is the ideal number of people. My position is that this Universe is God’s creation. The Supreme Being made it and put life in it and is the unchallengable authority of how much of both there should be.
Our job description is to make the best of the situation (life) that we find ourselves in. The job starts with a small few simple but difficult rules that everyone intuitively understands (so I needn’t repeat them here yet again).
But I do have one earnest and sincere question to pose my betters. What makes you so sure that your abstract reasoning (your own personal AI modeling machine) is better than actual reality or could arrogate to itself the right to improve upon it?

ParticipantPreemptively killing the top bad guys by carpet nuking Davos does have a certain appeal , but it would do little to solve the problem because the problem is not primarily the bad guys nor what the bad guys do. The problem is our own personal responsibility in ENABLING those bad guys to do what they did (and still do). The core problem is our own personal passivity, gullibility, short sighted selfishness and other similar chicken hearted errors. Lopping the heads off snakes does little good if a new heads are easily generated . . . . which they ALWAYS ARE when the vast majority of ordinary people are being so passive gullible short sightedly selfish and chicken hearted .
Now it may well be (and I think it is) that a large number of snakes will have to be killed (in the good old fashioned sense of the word) by lopping off heads in various violent ways . . . . but for that to work it will have to be accomplished by less passive, less gullible, less short sightedly selfish PEOPLE on a very large scale. Otherwise the snake’s head just regrows in an instant and we’re all right back where we started. For every psychopath high on the food chain there are dozens of apprentices just itching to step up a rung on the ladder and to replace their late unlamented boss. That sort of “field promotion” is an easy thing to do when when the vast majority of ordinary people are being so passive gullible and short sightedly selfish. After all, who would stop them from just doing what they’ve been doing ? (albeit minus a few big shots)
But dirty business as usual would be an IMPOSSIBLE thing pull off when the vast majority of ordinary people are being LESS passive LESS gullible and LESS short sightedly selfish and chicken hearted.
In other words, to get the job done and have it STAY done for a good long while then the PEOPLE are going to have to do that job themselves themselves.
That means you, me, your sweet old Aunt Matilda and everybody else (or close enough to everybody that the battle is won rather than lost).

ParticipantFloods occur primarily in flood plains. They’re called flood plains because millions of years of seasonal flooding creates plains. Flood plains become very very wet when flooded. If you don’t like being wet then don’t go to or live in or build on a flood plain. If you don’t mind taking your chances (because there are many advantages to living there, too. Like ample water and fertile soil) then go for it & good luck to you and yours.

ParticipantHere’s the thing about privacy vs surveillance that keeps getting overlooked. Yes, the surveilance state wants to know EVERYTHING about you (in real time) but it’s got NOTHING to do with whether or not you’ve been naughty. The surveillance state doesn’t give a shit about your private crimes and dirty little secrets (you are FAR too insignificant to them to be worth blackmailing). That’s not what it’s about AT ALL.
The purpose of mass surveillance of the micro details of your every tiniest move is to provide MASSIVE TROVES of real-time behavioral data streaming in to the Artificial Intelligence systems which then parse that behavioral data and analyze it to enable CONTROLLING it through the manipulation of the information that reaches you through the communications systems which the AI ALSO controls.
Given enough data about what your strings are, and what sorts of information will pull those strings without you even suspecting it, then that AI can play the society it self like a troupe of marionettes.
The Artificial Intelligence systems are owned by the self appointed puppet masters (that I call the Cabal) who . . . . quite unfortunately . . . . have drunk of the same Kool Aide that spews forth from their AI. Due to the basic nature of insanity the Cabal is incapable of factual introspection) the Cabal are blind to their own suicidal obsession with Power. Consequently, the control they intend to impose upon the unwashed masses will (if consumated) kill themselves as well as the masses who they think are the target.
To allow or enable the Cabal to continue along this mad course of intended action is to bid farewell to homo sapiens. Of course that will not be the case because EVENTUALLY (and we’re not there yet) the question of “kill or be killed” will have an immediacy that will not , can not, and shall not be ignored.
When that day comes you are going to choose, and there are strong and honorable cases to be made for both choices. It would probably be a good idea to prepare in advance for how you’re going to play it when the time comes.
That’s the plan, Stan.

ParticipantThere’s all kinds of stuff that we all know, but which doesn’t get said because “Hey, there’s no need to say it because everybody already knows it”, and so it floats on down the river of time into the memory sink-hole in a swamp somewhere. It’s easy to hide scum in a swamp.
That’s quite a trick. Very adroit. Almost Taoist in a really twisted sort of way, and a super-slick means of avoiding doing anything about it.
Here’s one: the putative President of the United States is a complete moral reprobate of long duration, lifetime career criminal and a complete piece of shit. The preceding statement is gross understatement. He is also a child raping mass murderer in the good old fashioned sense of those words, like they meant way back in the day when language was primarily a means of communicating facts instead of a tool-set for merchandizing lies intended to ravage the good in service to the evil.
His son Hunter is a chip off the same block.
History is replete with their ilk. That’s nothing new. But I’ll tell you what IS new. It is historically unprecedented that a planetary civilization is being ruled over by an organized mob of such creatures, their heinous and bizarre perversions are openly espoused, promoted and even praised as being the correct and desirable way to live.
And yet that is precisely what is being espoused and promoted around the world, isn’t it?
Why should millions of people agonizingly die in violent horrible ways so that a handful of monstrously defective criminals can gratify the urges of their own mental and spiritual illness ?
Just asking.

You asked, “Maybe it’s the “dawning of the Age of Aquarius”…
What would be the “darkest-before-the-dawn” moment, I wonder… “?I’ve never been real big on prophecy except in the broadest sense. And of course the devil is so often in the details. In my own experience by the time I firmly grip precisely and exactly what’s going to happen next there is not much that I can do about it except duck and cover.
In other words, my inadequacy seems always to be that of details and timing. . . . so I do the best I can in the broad sense, and prepare to duck and cover on very short notice.
Getting back to your question of , “What would be the “darkest-before-the-dawn” moment, I wonder…”
I can only reflect on my own experience of those darkest moments, and note that they all contained a particular element that was always there in some form and always the same in its essence. It was the moment that I was forced, by reality, to admit that I had been hanging on to a falsehood, a mistake, or a lie, or bad deed, and that the only way out of the downward spiral was to face the truth and stick with it despite anticipated consequences. Not a good feeling, actually. And not a situation I would seek out willingly. Nevertheless, so far it has worked each time.It will probably get me killed one of these days, but it better hurry because I’m old enough now that Nature’s built-in escape clause is already past due and could be invoked without further notice at any time. Cheat the firing squad, that’s my motto.

ParticipantThe weaknesses of Deep Underground Military Bases (DUMBS and converted salt mines, etc.) are very much like the weaknesses of policy based on lies. They work fine until they are found out. After that they become first a cyst and then a grave.
DUMBS are just as much exit proof as they are entry proof. Maybe more so. Find and block the access and egress and it’s game over for everyone stuck underground. Same goes for the water, power, air and communication with the outside world.
The only difference between a DUMB and a crypt is information. Once an adversary knows where the keys are what looked at first as an impregnable escape suddenly starts looking more like a mass burial
Same goes for policy based on secrets. When people find out that THE SECRET has been that our government does, indeed, explicitly and as a matter of policy and law, murder its undesirable citizens on purpose and in windrows . . . . it starts looking less like a legitimate law and starts looking more like an unforgiveable confession.

As a species homo sapiens is observably configured to venture perilously into the yang trap. Our vocal apparatus, fingers with opposable thumbs, even our Brains neurology and endocrine systems are purpose built to design, build and use “devices” to assist us in using abstract reasoning and mechanisms to prevail in the competition for life. Millions, if not billions, of years of development (evolution?) were required to achieve our current repertoire of skills and abilities to put those internal and external tools to best use. By which I mean to say, it weren’t no accident. It were done on purpose . . . . and for a LONG time.
Balance, NOT total hegemonic victory over an adversary, is the only answer that I’ve ever come up with . . . and I’ve been hard at it for most of my life. But brother, that “balance” thing is one toughie to get the hang of.

I think both of you are right, and therein is a big clue about what might be an effective survival strategy going forward.
Every move the bad guys make will fail, and will take some time to fail, and will have fairly predictable sub-failures along the way as it does so.
The survival strategy is to separate from dependence upon those things that the bad guys control, or maneuver to control, or even touch. These acts of separation will (in the conglomerate) build an alternative system of everything, which as it grows will simply eclipse and replace the failing system that will shrink until virtually nonexistent.
That is going to be a delicate game, dicey and gradual because the bad guys still do control the gas pumps, electrical grid and all sorts of machinery, but the outcome (in the conglomerate) is as certain as the conclusion of a B Western movie. ParticipantOne theory about the Joe Biden document stash is that Joe is being set up as a patsy for the debacle in (and about) Ukraine.
It seems that the impending stupendously humiliating defeat of Ukraine is so huge, and so imminent, and so malodorous, that they can’t find a rug big enough to sweep it under , so somebody needs to take the fall. That would be Joe, and his kid.
It won’t work, of course, since so many people are already on to the scam, but it will kick the can down the road for a while (as it is “discussed” at extremely extreme length within the captured main stream media and Halls of of Justice) . That is guaranteed to buy them some time (maybe quite a bit of time, if the discussion of Hunter’s laptop is any comparison) . . . and buying time is what the Clowns are all about these days.
I’m interested in how that works out for them, because if Joe goes down . . . which seems inevitable at this point, then everybody who materially and knowingly helped them do it is eventually going to go down with him.
I can say that with confidence BECAUSE the rest of us (a few millions at least, so far, and our numbers grow exponentially) know beyond the shadow of a doubt that the only way to excise the cancer is to track down and dispatch every single last cancerous cell in the body politic, no matter how long that takes.
