How do you make a good propaganda film? How do you expose it before it wins a truth-telling award and embarrasses the prize-givers — before they discover it’s a pseudo-documentary that has been nominated for an “Oscar” – before the white envelopes are opened before millions of people on Oscar night, March 12th?

“Navalny” is a slick production full of easily-documented fabrications, disinformation, with lots of clever visuals to distract and manipulate viewers.

    … and the winner is, … :

“Navalny,” documentary nominated for March 12th Oscar, is disinformation

    Crooke’s weekly, … biggish snip:

Just as with lockdown, governments have used behavioural psychology to instil fear and isolation to mass large groups of people into herds, where toxic sneering at any contrariness cold-shoulders all critical thinking or analysis. It is more comfortable being inside the herd, than out.

The dominant characteristic here is remaining loyal to the group – even when the policy is working badly and its consequences disturb the conscience of members. Loyalty to the group becomes the highest form of morality. That loyalty requires each member to avoid raising controversial issues, questioning weak arguments, or calling a halt to wishful thinking.

The ‘Groupthink’ allows some self-imagined reality to detach; to drift further and further from any connection to reality, and then to transit into delusion – always drawing on like-minded peer cheerleaders for its validation and extended radicalisation.

So, it’s ‘goodbye’ to traditional Intelligence! And ‘welcome’ to western Intelligence 101: Geo-Politics no longer revolves around a grasp on Reality. It is about the installation of ideological pseudo-realism – which is the universal installation of a singular groupthink, such that everyone lives passively by it, until it is far too late to change course.

How Could Western Intelligence Have Got It Wrong, Again? They Didn’t. They Had Other Purposes

@ Dr. D. – Atlantic doing a victory lap for how there’s no recession:
    __________________________

Fools! Reality is that letter “r” ( recession ) has been just superseded by the letter “s” ( stagflation ), … and The Atlantic never noticed even a glimpse of this change, …

… anyway, the headline for the article should haveread, The Reason the Stagflation Hasn’t Happened Yet, … than, the article should have been Re formulated on the basis of following:

According to FactSet, 94% of S&P 500 companies have reported numbers, with 68% beating estimates. That “beat rate” was primarily a function of the rapid cuts to estimates since June of last year. If analysts were held to their original estimates, roughly 100% of companies would have disappointed expectations.

    … or something alike!

    Helmer:

For Russia it would never have turned out this way if President Boris Yeltsin had decided to run for a third term, ruling as medically incapable as President Joseph Biden, but deferring the succession until after Mikhail Khodorkovsky had sold the Yukos oil company to the US, and the other Russian oligarchs created by Yeltsin had followed suit. Heart, brain, and liver disease stopped the Yeltsin part of that. The Vladimir Putin succession plan then failed to deliver what had been intended.

What has remained of the plan of the destruction of Russia from those days is what there is today.

    Surveying optimistically stupid!

    … and the survey says:

Nearly three-quarters (72%) of Gen Zers believe they’ll become wealthy one day, making them the most financially optimistic generation. Overall, 44% of Americans think they’ll be wealthy in their lifetime, though that’s down from 51% in 2019. The past three years saw millennials’ expectations of wealth drop, from 66% in 2019 to 59% today.

Millions of barrels of Russian crude and fuels have been switched between tankers just a few miles off the coast of Greece, one of a series of workarounds that traders have used to overcome European Union sanctions against Moscow.

At least 23 million barrels of Russian crude and additional volumes of refined fuels have been transfered from one tanker to another in the Bay of Lakonikos since the start of this year, according to tanker tracking by Bloomberg. Greek authorities say their scope to intervene is limited because the activity is happening outside of a six-mile limit to the country’s territorial waters in the area.

Re Brandon visiting Kiev, … CBC is currently showing footage of him walking with Zelenskyy near St. Michael’s Cathedral in Kiev as well as Biden participating in a wreath-laying ceremony at the memorial wall outside St. Michael’s Cathedral. All marked as on Monday.

    Further, CBC is stating:
White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan said that the U.S. notified Moscow of Biden’s visit to Kyiv shortly before his departure from Washington “for deconfliction purposes,” in an effort to avoid any miscalculation that could bring the two nuclear-armed nations into direct conflict.

Yes, a sure sign of oil on melting snow and water. It’s typically from cars leaking oil, … or someone dumped used oil into rain gutter. Happens often. Now, vid indicates that it’s on all surrounding streets. Alastair CROOKE:

“The axis of states “at war with Russia” stand at the edge of an economic precipice. Living standards are collapsing at the fastest rate since WW2. Anger, slow to ignite, is now burgeoning. The British and EU political classes have no answers to this crisis. The Ruling Class try to sit tight, and trust that the people will accept all ‘things’: Spiralling prices, jobs priced out by higher energy costs, empty spaces on shop shelves, the energy spikes – and the pockets of system dysfunctionality (i.e., at airports and on transport systems) that confound the smooth running of society. It’s the same for Americans.

The flunkies charged with the management and the running of ‘the system’ are confused. Their (high) self-esteem until now has rested on their articulation of ‘correct views’ and espousing the ‘prescribed causes’ – more than manifesting any particular competence in their work. Now they do not know what to say, or which cause is ‘correct’. Narratives are falling apart; the Twitter revelations have disrupted the former ‘equilibrium’.

@ Dr. Day : “Here is a song that I feel is appropriate in every way to all of “our” discussions here in recent days, about War, …
    _______________

    Lyrics:

The grave that they dug him had flowers
Gathered from the hillsides in bright summer colors
And the brown earth bleached white
At the edge of his gravestone, he’s gone

When the wars of our nation did beckon
A man barely twenty did answer the calling
Proud of the trust that he placed in our nation, he’s gone
But eternity knows him and it knows what we’ve done

And the rain fell like pearls on the leaves of the flowers
Leaving brown, muddy clay where the earth had been dry
And deep in the trench he waited for hours
As he held to his rifle and prayed not to die

But the silence of night was shattered by fire
As guns and grenades blasted sharp through the air
One after another his comrades were slaughtered
In morgue of marines, alone standing there

He crouched ever lower, ever lower with fear
They can’t let me die, they can’t let me die here
I’ll cover myself with the mud and the earth
And I’ll cover myself, I know I’m not brave

    The earth
    The earth
    The earth
    Is my grave

The grave that they dug him had flowers
Gathered from the hillsides in bright summer colors
And the brown earth bleached white
At the edge of his gravestone, he’s gone
