then it might even seek to provoke a conflict that wargamers convinced themselves Beijing would lose, which is a frightening scenario that can’t be ruled out.

Incredulous given that China has fully operational hypersonic anti-ship missles…

Here in LoS we have been in a heat wave for the last 2-3 weeks. The mercury has been hitting 40°c with many 39°c’s thrown in for good measure.
The humidity has been 40% which exacerbates the temps quite a bit… We don’t ususally turn on the air-con until the 35°c mark; which is usually by noon or one o’clock…
The weather bureau says another 2 weeks until some relief…

On re-reading what I said, I have a lot of sympathy with your statement. Maybe it would be more appropriate to say that the evil puppeteer enables the evil puppets to do their worst.

Thank you for that reply; seems fitting…and I agree…

The evil is not in the puppet, it is in the puppet master.

That clever homily fails in the face of reality; in fact it distorts the truth of the participants actual role/responsibility in the horrors being perpetrated on citizens everywhere…

Certainly appears a Gish gallop of felonies facing Former President Donald J. Trump in court. World is watching TDS (Trump Derangement Syndrome) show the legal system of the United States for what it has become – fraudulent justice. Fair justice is a glue that holds society together through an implied trust in the system; the January 6th felonious use of the courts is a stable Hercules cannot clean, the social glue is dangerously eroded. Republics do not stand for long without a strong social glue. YMMV

    Wow…

It’s really incredible that people can open the newspaper every day, see a story like this – every day – and still just shrug and move on as though nothing unusual is taking place.

But isn’t that exactly the reality of our day to day lives, today? It is in fact our new normal…

VA, I understand the gravity of the use of firearms. What does certification offer?

Certification assures the qualifications of the instructor; and to teach safety and best practices of firearm usage.
Many firearms users would also benefit from a combat course teaching tactical applications for handguns and long guns as well.

Regarding the firearm issue: There are a lot of cowboys out there who are ignorant of gun safety.
I agree with the recommendation to buy a shotgun. A 12 gauge pump-action with a short barrel (18″ – 20″inches) for ease of use indoors.
Most importantly; find a certified instructor of rifle, pistol, and shotgun; of which I am one.
The next most important item is to use/practise with it until you are confident in your ability.
In an emergency one does not have the time to consider how to function; it should be auto-matic and that only comes with experience…
