ParticipantI think VietnamVet said it best yesterday: “The US government is dysfunctional.”
I would add to that the term “corrupt”, because they operate in a system of perverse incentives in which public service occupies a position near (or at) the bottom of their list of priorities.
“Don’t Count On Vaccine, US Scientist Warns (G.)”
How did this article get past the censors? Doesn’t this scientist watch the news? That we are looking at the V shaped recovery? That a cure is just around the corner? That he should load up on stocks now and avoid the last minute rush?
“Sweden Had Highest Coronavirus Death Rate Per Capita In Last Week (Tel.)”
I don’t understand why this is a problem. Isn’t it understood that Sweden is taking a different path through this pandemic, the price being to pay with a higher death count up front in order to reach herd immunity quicker and thereby reestablish normal social and business functioning? We should all realize by now that every nation is an experiment in progress, and that the final results cannot be assessed until the pandemic runs its course. Then we will see who was wise and who was foolish.
I still think the HCQ story is a fascinating one, and has the potential of some major public blow-back. From all appearances there appears to be a concerted effort on the part of Big Pharma (and possibly other hidden players) to torpedo its use as a treatment. Fake scientific studies were also rushed into print in order to muddy those waters as well, hoping to put the last nail in the HCQ coffin. But it keeps hanging on, and someone somewhere is going to announce the results of a randomized, double-blind placebo study using HCQ + Zinc, and we will finally find out where the truth lies. That is assuming that Big Pharma doesn’t find out about it first and send in a squad of ‘active shooters’ to destroy it.

“Was there a problem for the banks already when the bailout was given? What will happen when people stop paying their mortgages and car loans? Endless bailouts?”
Short answer: Yes. The precedence is already well established, and the skids were generously greased with the Dodd-Frank Act. It happens to be the easiest way to steal wealth from the greatest amount of people with the least amount of effort (and I might add the least amount of awareness).

ParticipantIlargi,
Was going to write this first thing in the morning, but my mind was still foggy and was worried about sounding too much like a fanboy. Have been feeling a lot of gratitude all day, and hours later it just hasn’t let up. Not that I’m complaining, mind you, but very much the opposite.
Is it any wonder that we are admonished to “count our blessings” when we feel low? Gratitude, I believe, is underrated. What a wonderful warm softening glow it elicits, one that penetrates to the very heart.
So here I find myself again, with the need to tell you how much I appreciate all the work you do to keep up this site. All your thoughts and ideas, and those of your many contributors. It’s a pool I look forward to splashing in each and every day.

They certainly are destructive, going out of their way to destroy a perfectly good vehicle just for kicks. Or is there something I’m not seeing here? Left behind fingerprints or DNA evidence perhaps that could be used to put the authorities on their trail?
In a related story, it appears that during the week of October 14-19, 2019, there was no cellphone activity around the Wuhan Institute of Virology or any of the roads leading to it, almost as if an emergency containment perimeter were set up around the lab after an accident had occurred. Of course, I’m sure it was nothing, and that there is a good explanation coming from the CCP. Possibly an emergency street fair or gay pride parade while the local cell towers were being recalibrated?

So what? I’d much rather listen to my neighbor ramble on about how bad the weeds are this year than anything Barry has to say. This first has some value, whereas the second is a complete waste of time.
Like many others I bought into his ‘Hope & Change’ sloganeering, but was jolted out of that illusion when he let the mortgage bankers off scott-free immediately after assuming office. No, it was worse than that, they were essentially rewarded for their fraud and criminality with additional wealth and power. But don’t get me started on that, because it ushered in a new era of unbelievable theft that is now encapsulated in today’s free-running and unaccountable Fed policies.
Obama’s administration went downhill from there, terminating with the Oval Office acting as the control center in an attempt to destroy the political opposition’s campaign. No, I don’t care what he says. He’s a social-climbing sellout, who once upon a time was given the chance to make a real difference in the world and wasted it on himself.

ParticipantFor those who may have missed it, Chris Martenson gave an excellent presentation yesterday on the origins of the new Covid-19 virus. For a guy who normally goes out of his way to remain objective, doing his best to leave emotion and bias out of his analysis, he makes the claim that the top virologists are lying to the public about the virus being a natural occurrence.

This particular regimen for Covid-19 is pretty easy to find on-line, so I feel safe in passing it along. I’m not a doctor, and don’t pretend to know what is best for others. Therefore, do your own research and use your best judgement:

I’m very curious to see how this ‘therapy battle’ plays out over the length of the pandemic, and whether anyone from Big Pharma, WHO, or the NIH will be thrown under the bus before it’s all over.
As for me, after researching HCQ a few weeks back, I made a copy of the HCQ/Azm/Zn regimen that I plan to demand in the unlucky circumstance that I catch the virus before this battle is settled. I feel quite determined, enough to stake my life on it.

Participant“With test results all over the place, we need to recognize that having all the world’s top minds on viruses focused on the same issue, does not guarantee a thing. Other than confusion.”
“On Friday, a study carried out in Santa Clara, California by Stanford University and released as a “pre-print” without peer review, found that 50 to 85 times more people had been infected with the virus than official figures showed.”
I remember way back when I first got into microelectronics, and after two years of hard work our first microchip silicon wafers came out of manufacturing. This was back in the Dark Ages when every large company wanted to have their own Microelectronics Division. We all stood around the huge test machine as the first silicon wafer was loaded onto the test chuck. The probes of the test machine were set down onto the first die of the wafer and the test engineer hit the test button. A few seconds later we all whooped and hollered with joy as the green light flashed, indicating that the new microchip had successfully passed a full series of tests.
The test engineer moved the probes to the next circuit on the wafer, again we all cheered as another green light showed that the adjacent microchip was 100% functional. After this scene was repeated several times in succession, the lead test engineer became suspicious. “Hold on a second”, he said, “lift the test probes from the wafer and hit the Test button again.” With nothing but air under the test probes the test button was pushed. A few seconds later the test machine’s green light flashed success once again, but this time to the groans of all assembled. It seems the test program was faulty, and always produced a positive result a few seconds after the test button was pushed.
The moral of the story is that the results of any test are only as good as its measurement tools. In the case of the above study by Stanford University, which tries to prove that “50 to 85 times more people had been infected with the virus than official figures” show, Chris Martenson does an excellent job of debunking in yesterday’s podcast.
As yet, I am not convinced that the COVID-19 virus has already passed through the greater part of an asymptomatic population. Why? Because too many people, especially in finance, want it to be so. They all want desperately for profits to return to their pre-pandemic highs, and will grab onto (or fund) any experimental study that appears to show that the worst is already behind us.

I must admit that I’m a bit burned out on the whole pandemic drama. Much of this is due to the craziness which it has excited: the politicizing, the finger pointing, the ass covering, the conspiracy theories, the money printing, the thieving, the overreach of authority, the fear mongering, the ineptitude, the conflicting reports, etc. etc. Sometimes by the end of the day I don’t know which end is up. However, I still have an evolving picture of the situation that has developed instinctually, and I’m curious to see how well it holds up to how this actually plays out over time. There is remarkable potential for this crisis to alter the course of history, which duly needs altering, but in which direction we as yet do not know. Let us hope that Mr. Gates does not have a seat on the steering committee.
As always, I appreciate the exchange of ideas and shared experiences from Raul, and everyone who comments.

Where have we seen this strategy before, where authorities began back-peddling on the severity of the crisis? That’s right, China. And for the very same reason, get people back to work as quickly as possible to save the economy.
I understand China’s desire to get the world’s workshop back to running at full capacity. They don’t want their customers looking for alternate places to build factories, or god forbid, bring them back home to their domestic economies.
Of course this pandemic is a lose-lose scenario, and that one priority (life vs economy) has to be balanced against the other, and that both are not mutually exclusive. At least China waited to roll out this strategy after their crisis had peaked, and some control of the outbreak had been reestablished. Now when Trump says that he’d like to see people back to work by Easter, knowing full well that the worst is yet to come, it looks foolish, injudicious, and frankly that his priorities are focused not on saving life but Wall Street, the markets, money, the golden calf.
What I find difficult to understand is that with all our spy technology and genius analysts working for all those govt. agencies, we knew at the highest levels what was occurring in Wuhan, China. However, because we’ve had so many false alarms over the years I understand how it would be very risky for a politician to panic the herd prematurely. But couldn’t they have taken steps behind the scenes to prepare? Hell, even I was buying masks and extra food way back in early February, based solely on the evidence arriving through social media leaks out of China. And I’m sure like many of you, I tried to warn friends about the approaching danger, but they were not the least concerned. Why should they be, when every media source they’ve come to depend on was squelching the story?

ParticipantI find myself vacillating between two different virus trajectories. There is a part of me that hopes for a speedy solution to the pandemic, so as to sustain the least amount of damage to those that are most vulnerable; not only the old and the poor, but the small business owner sans K Street lobbyist, who might never recover financially.
The other part wishes for the pandemic to burn through the world with a destructive force, slowly grinding down the populations and power structures of all nations. A planetary cleansing if you would. A global reset that would provide the survivors a space in which to build a better world based on more socially responsible and equitable principles.
The neoliberal disease of unregulated greed already extracts a heavy toll on the planet and its inhabitants. Maybe this is what’s needed to set the stage for something better.

Since then it’s been off to the races, allowing greed and fraud to run unchecked. If that weren’t bad enough, the Fed, like Casey Jones reborn, continuously pumped more and more financial fuel into the supercomputer algos and board rooms that game the system every nanosecond in order to skim wealth from the unworthy and unconnected.
And when the mortgage industry blew a gasket in 2008, our glorious media did a wonderful job of providing cover. I couldn’t believe how many of my acquaintance were clueless as to the real cause: massive and systemic fraud. This cover kept all those bewildered citizens (victims) from ringing Congress and demanding in fits of rage to have the guilty thrown in into the darkest dungeon. And just in the nick of time, the silver-tongued sellout, Obama, let the bankers transfer all that private debt to the public, setting the stage for the ‘everything’ bubble we have today.

Nice essay! One can only hope that Alexander’s vision of the future is correct, in that this pandemic will be the catalyst needed to break up the old, corrupt institutions which are currently blocking the birth a more equitable and socially enlightened era.
I’m reminded of Max Planck’s famous statement that “science advances one funeral at a time”, meaning that the old guard are generally hostile to new ideas, often doing everything in their power to suffocate them in their cribs. As paradoxical as it may seem, even the sciences have their high priests who rigorously guard the status quo, determining which new ideas will be blessed and which will be cast into outer darkness.

Nice set of pandemic karmic consequences for the US to chew on!The Chinese certainly have some questions to answer when this pandemic finally burns out, however long that takes and whomever is left to pick up the pieces. Maybe we’ll get lucky, like in the movie Contagion, and some scientist will develop a vaccine in time to avert a major die-off. Maybe not.
In the meantime, it’s been fascinating watching the CCP shuck and jive their way through this thing, since their leaky information firewall has forced them to change stories several times already. Choosing between the virus and the economy (either way resulting in a tidal wave of public wrath) they are caught between the proverbial ‘devil and the deep blue sea’, a lose-lose situation only made worse by their continuous lying and stonewalling.
Lately, I’ve had the sneaking suspicion that the US is one of the least prepared nations to deal with this thing, especially with a mostly service-based economy running on printed money. What happens when all those fast-food restaurants and coffee shops have to close because of quarantines? There go half of US jobs with their respective tax revenues. If that happens you are going to see some shuck and jive that will put even the Chinese to shame.

Yes, and many years ago the high-tech industry went from a “sick day” benefits model to a “PTO” (Paid Time Off) model, effectively lumping both sick time and vacation days together. What effect did that have? Well, who wants to waste that time off when you’re sick with the flu during the winter when you can save it all for those sunny days of summer? And while we’re at it, Russia is really just another name for Putin, the real boogieman of the US empire. There I said it. Putin, the subduer of oligarchs and the reconstitutor of the Russian Federation. Putin, the Harry Potter who stopped the Dark Lord and his rapacious hordes from assuming their rightful place as rulers of the world. Not that long ago Russia was just dandy when good ol’ Yeltsin was at the helm. He was our man in Moscow don’t you know, Time Magazine’s Person of the Year.
I have an idea, let’s have Putin fly to DC and address a special session of Congress. Maybe he could convince them to give up their dream of world conquest and settle for a multi-polar world of mutual cooperation. Good luck with that!

ParticipantOn Feb 4 and investigative journalist was able to trick a Wuhan funeral home into divulging their crematorium workload. It’s a fascinating exchange, not least because the supervisor was at her wits end from fatigue.
Based on her data, I penciled out a quick graph of the workload between the dates of Jan 23 – Feb 3, assuming that the workload began to increase quadratically starting on Jan 23. With only 11 of 18 ovens functional they had cremated 116 of the 127 bodies delivered on Feb 3, which she complained was 4-5X their normal workload. Using a conservative estimate, I calculated their normal workload for that 12-day period at 348 bodies. This left 488 that must be attributed to the virus, totaling 836 altogether.
The supervisor stated that the nearby Hankou Funeral Home had a much larger workload than her funeral home. Assuming that her funeral home had an average workload, and that there are 49 crematoria in the Hunan area, 488 x 49 = 23,912 virus deaths just for the Hunan area. Just sayin.

ParticipantI am another one who is following the virus story closely and have noticed that the numbers don’t seem to match the extreme measures taken by the CCP. Neither do they correlate with the non-official reports escaping censorship here and there via social media. Don’t 800 people choke on their eggrolls each month? 400 Million quarantined, the world economy put at risk for a few hundred? I don’t believe it. What pikers those Chinese, we in the US lose 40,000 to opiates each year without batting an eye.
What’s worse are the charts and graphs seen on so many sites using the official data from China. “Oh, notice how the graph is starting to flatten, this shows how the quarantine is taking effect.” “Everyone should be back to work soon.” Blah, blah, blah. It’s painful to watch all the wasted time and energy put into their analysis. All based on numbers having no reality content. Made up out of thin air, like the Iowa Caucus delegate counts.
