“There is nothing more certain and unchanging than uncertainty and change.”
The silence on the part of MSM here is er, ah,,,deafening?
Oh, well, I guess he who panics first panics best?
Until we receive accurate stats on this virus thing, we can only speculate,,,,,and be left on our own to draw conclusions upon which to act.
That said, ya’ll do what ya gotta do, and good luck. Myself, I’ll give it until next Wed to convince me that there ain’t nuthin’ to see here. If still unconvinced, I’ll be heading for the cabin out in the boonies.
ps, be advised that sometimes .gov action can be as bad,,,,or worse, than what ails us 😉
Since we are speaking of the Constitution, and it’s assorted components, the 2nd amendment comes to mind. You know, the one that guarantees all the others? Ultimately, and unfortunately, if unchecked, the ever accelerating political dissonance in this Constitutional Republic will reach such a crescendo, that last resort attempts at solutions will be directed toward the true intent of said amendment, that of protecting the people from the injustices imposed upon them by an errant government, all other options having been exhausted.
Humm,,,maybe those ‘ol’ boys were smarter than some people give them credit?
“The trouble with practical jokes is that very often they get elected.”
To sum it up, the only way man seems to be able to absorb any prudent, though “unsavory” message is, through the assistance of a 2×4 upside the head,,,,ala, something along the lines of a scenario laid out in Kuntslers work “World Made by Hand.”
Certainly, as a cure for whatever ails, granting consensus to “Authority” to “fix it” isn’t a panacea at all. 😉
Refreshing read, in lieu of the scourge that is politics these days. Would be nice to see more of the “old” TAE, and less of the futile quest for “Sanity in politics,” which is akin to discovering a skittle shitting unicorn.
Seems some folks have, over the years, traded Liberty for Security. And now, the consequences.
Well done, Ilargi. Another ongoing testimony to the age old premise that central planning doesn’t work.
“A dream….I was trying to explain to St. Peter, and was doing it in the German tongue because I didn’t want to be too explicit.” Mark Twain
Enlightening series. Thanks Ilargi! I’ll be chewing on that brain food for quite a while yet.
Aside, it looks like politics is doing what politics always does,,,it stirs controversy and tweaks perceptions. Must be an election year.
@ V. Arnold, perhaps of interest. This guy has depicted the essence of the sea.
Read about all this back in ‘84, so, no surprise.
Maybe the solution isn’t another “ism” after all?
But of course, special interests will never let this gain a footing,,,,,
How wrong can things go? Well,,,,Murphy’s law?
A most astute observation and elucidation of the state of affairs we find ourselves in. Yesterday being gone, and tomorrow being blind, about all we can do is try and stay clear of the tracks upon which this Central Planning train is speeding towards the cliff. As Tverberg put it, “An economy is a self organizing structure.” Something that, to remain efficient (functional), can’t be tweaked or meddled with. Parasitical power has nearly killed it’s host. When there is no more blood to draw, the parasite falls off. That’s when things will get messy. Might be prudent to have something shiny to carry with us over that bridge to the “Other Side,” when the time comes to cross it?
@ Arnold, another site sporting nice artwork, and some provocative food for thought,,,,https://www.woodpilereport.com/
And isn’t ‘Assured Mutual Destruction’ a wonderful humanitarian concept?
No one is going to stand between the stampeding herd and the cliff. Just going to have to let Natural Selection sort it all out.
As for the Ruskie panic,,,,,Well,,,,
For sure, I see the MIC chomping at the bit to replace all those consumer goods crossing international borders, with bullets.
Government approved “Freedom of Association,” and Centrally Planned “Liberty,” just ain’t my cup of tea.
Guess only our Potent Directors can save us now? But I’m still not convinced all this “Nationalism” is a healthy thing. Au Contraire.
But then, this administration will soon be gone, and another will spring to “action” and give the thundering herd some other “crisis” to chew on for a while.
Two kinds of people on this dirtball. Those who want to live their lives their own way, and those who want to tell others how to live. Governments and their enablers fall into the latter category.
Score another one for Pareto’s Lions and Foxes.
Though I have never had addiction problems, other than being helplessly drawn to websites such as this one, among my friends are a few with addictive personalities. 2 out of 3 have found solace in realignment of perspectives. Looking inward for a starting point, rather than expecting external solutions. There is something to this approach: https://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/all-about-addiction/201110/mindfulness-meditation-and-addiction

Aside from that, Akaw! That Megaphone chart looks like a cleanup set. Don’t lose your baggies!
Chart Porn. A goal-seeked elucidation of what “really” happened yesterday. Extrapolate it out to future expectations and,,, well,,, see how that play’s out. Of course it will give one an opportunity to edit and update the charts.
To wit, the past is gone, the future is unknown. Looks like that only leaves the present. But then, Americans spend most of their lives preparing to start living. Just like the best days for fishing are always yesterday and tomorrow?
If they aren’t careful, those Islands are going to find themselves neaped.
“The more material we lose, the less we have. The less we have, the more we win.”
Bond Vigilantes? But, we were told by all the Blog Gurus that they were extinct?
Unfortunate that Elon himself would not be at the wheel of that car. How many homes for the homeless could have been constructed with the costs of such hubris?December 24, 2017 at 6:40 pm in reply to: The Automatic Earth for Athens Fund – Christmas and 2018 #37904

@ Arnold and Oxy,,,,
Nice Dharma Talk, there Doc. To quote Tinkerbell,
“All you need is faith, and a little pixie dust.”
Christmas frenzy,,,,Praise the lord and pass the Mastercard.
“but this is how the crypto market has acted for all 9 years of data.”
Must be why they call it a market. Reminds of back in 01 when Au was in the 200’s,,,,and it actually exists, useful for, if nothing else, a good doorstop.
But, alas, the good thing about Bitcoin is, if you drop it on your foot, it won’t hurt 🙂
Pit the Rule of Man against the Laws of Nature,,,,my bets are on the latter.
Ghost of Gann?
Yeah, well, if his “System” was all that credible, his followers would soon have all the money, now, wouldn’t they?
Economies being self organizing structures, predicting “markets” is akin to predicting the next direction of a herd of cats. Assuming that is, someone doesn’t throw a cherry bomb in their midst.
Nothing “New” in the “News” anymore,,,, all is just one big assed regurgitation of assorted political agendas. iNoise.
Even the news aggregators are in sync these days, distributing the same politically motivated bs widely throughout the intertubes.
